Chapter 51: Results of The Class Exam
In the school auditorium, the floating dungeon entrance swirled. Suddenly, a ringing alarm resounded on the floor. Dean Pooler looked at the time and nodded. He gently pushed his hand forward, moving all the students out of the dungeon.
Woosh!
A moment later, all of the students inside were thrown out, landing on the ground with a thud.
Thud! Thud!
When Zeke opened his eyes again, he realized he was no longer in the colorful forest. His heart turned alert as he looked around cautiously, but when he saw the dean and other professors on the stage, he quickly calmed down.
’It’s over.’
As if to confirm that, Professor Xavier stepped up on the stage. He swept his gaze to the first-year students and spoke on the microphone.
"First years, form a line for each class. We’ll be announcing the results shortly."
His voice resounded on the entire floor, snapping out the students who were still in a daze. The first ones to react were the class representatives of each class. They quickly organized their class and formed a line. A moment later, the auditorium looked similar from three hours ago, except this time, most of the students looked exhausted.
"Haa, it’s finally over... It’s a pity I didn’t get to see the whole class war between Class A and Class B."
Andrei yawned, then glanced at Zeke.
"Do you want to hang out after this?"
"No."
Zeke rejected him flatly.
"Why?" Andrei rubbed his nose. "Don’t tell me you’re training again..."
Zeke nodded slightly, making Andrei sigh. This wasn’t the first time Andrei had invited him to hang out after class, but his daily schedule was always busy with his part-time job and training routine, so he didn’t have time to go along with Andrei’s daily whims.
"You know, I know a guy who turned bald from training so hard..."
Andrei shook his head.
Ignoring him, Zeke turned his gaze to the stage. It seemed the results were finally going to be announced. He gestured for Andrei to stop talking and look at the stage, seeing Professor Xavier return with a tablet in his hand.
Andrei quickly shut up, and everyone else as well.
"First of all, congratulations on surviving this class exam."
Professor Xavier spoke calmly.
"As the sole ranker academy in the Underground, the Herta Academy of Rankers has existed for over two hundred years, and we will continue to exist as long as students live on. We advocate for an education that fosters talented students into the stellar rankers. But as we develop towards that goal, we will not ignore the safety of our students."
"There are no casualties for this exam. Congratulations."
At that moment, the professors on stage broke out in applause.
The students didn’t feel anything special about it. If somebody died, then it was because they were weak.
When the applause finally died down, Professor Xavier continued.
"I’ll be announcing the results now."
"The rules for this exam are simple. Accumulate as much treasure value as possible until the exam. I’ll be calling the 10 students with the highest treasure value from top to bottom. The first one, or the holder of the highest treasure value..."
The students looked up.
"Diana Kaisa, 18,000 treasure value."
Professor Xavier uttered, causing a small commotion in the auditorium. The students whispered among themselves, some disappointed, while some weren’t surprised by the result.
Zeke glanced at Class A’s line and saw the tall, white-haired woman at the front of the line. Diana Kaisa, ranked 1st in the entire first year, and also known as the class representative of Class A.
Diana didn’t seem to be surprised by the result at all, giving a slight nod.
"Quiet down."
Professor Xavier tapped the mic, immediately silencing everyone below.
"The next one, the second highest..."
"Enzo Wraith, 17,800 treasure value."
This time, Professor Xavier continued as is, not giving everyone time to react.
"Isophy Chrysamantium, 14,600 treasure value."
"Anzel Rouge, 14,500 treasure value."
"Hammer Newman, 14,200 treasure value."
To no one’s surprise, the entire list was composed of the top ten students in the first-year leaderboards. But something strange did happen when one of the names was called.
When the name Andrei Nurvech was called for 8th place, many students across all classes gritted their teeth. Seemingly unaware of this, Andrei kept a simple smile as he nodded at everyone looking at him.
Zeke quietly swore to put some distance between the two of them, even if just for the next few days...
"Now that I’ve called all the highest performing students, it’s time to call out those who failed."
Professor Xavier’s gaze turned sharp. The students quickly straightened their backs, and those who already knew the results looked pale. One of them was...
"Franz Evagzikel, 0 treasure value points."
When Professor Xavier dropped the name, shock appeared on everyone’s expressions, like a thunderclap resounding in the auditorium. Everyone was startled by this result, especially those who were robbed by Franz in the exam.
They immediately turned their gaze towards Class D and saw a tall, pathetic man standing in front of the line. Franz’s head was lowered, but from the gap, some noticed how bruised and swollen his face was, as though he had been thoroughly abused. His exuberant arrogance as well as naturally smug expression were gone, replaced by a silent, lifeless expression on his face.
Sensing everyone’s stare land on him, Franz trembled quietly, clenching his hand tightly. But he didn’t say anything, only praying in his heart for Professor Xavier to move on to the next student as soon as possible.
But to those who know, Andrei and Ren, they glanced at Zeke quietly.
The representatives of each class were surprised, gazing at Class D before looking at each other. Even though Franz wasn’t strong, he was still a class representative like them. To rob him of all his treasures, they naturally thought it was someone among them, or perhaps someone at the top of the leaderboard.
But Seralune thought differently. Knowing that a rumor was floating around during the exam, she couldn’t help but think of something...
A familiar figure outlined itself in her mind.
She tried to find that familiar figure on the line, but Class D’s line was far from them, leading her to give up.
Professor Xavier stayed silent for a while longer. Then, he moved on to the next name.
"Jim Rex, 0 points..."
One after another, names were dropped from Professor Xavier’s mouth, resounding in the auditorium like a thunderclap. Those who were called had their faces turn extremely pale, looking more like a corpse than a living person.
"Those who failed. Please meet me in my office for your designated penalty."
Professor Xavier spoke, then paused.
"Next. I’ll be announcing the ranking of each class based on their performance."
"The best performing class is Class A. They shall receive 100 class value."
"The second-best performance belongs to Class B. They shall receive 80 class value."
"The third is Class C. They shall receive 50 class value."
"The fourth is Class E. They shall receive 30 class value."
"The last is Class D. They shall receive 10 class value."
When Professor Xavier finished speaking, a long silence fell over the entire auditorium. The students looked at Diana and Enzo, seemingly gauging their reaction. On Class E’s side, Gilbert let out a sigh of relief...
"That will be all for this month’s class exam." Professor Xavier paused, then continued. "We’ll be reviewing the exam footage only after all class exams are done, so changes in your personal value and class value will only reflect tomorrow at the latest."
