Chapter 2139: Chapter 2099: Dr. Smith
The hospitals in America are managed even more strictly than those back home. Ye Qiu was planning to go take a look at Li Xiaofen’s husband, but unexpectedly, he couldn’t get in at all.
"Dr. Ye, you’ll need the doctor’s permission here," said Li Xiaofen.
"Is it that only the nurses can get close now?" Xia Jing asked.
"That’s indeed the case."
If that’s the case, we’ll have to check back tomorrow.
"Xia Jing, why don’t you all check in at a hotel first?"
Actually, if this Mr. William were to die, handling it could be more troublesome, as it would still involve property issues and such.
After Ye Qiu and Xia Jing left the ward, Xia Jing said, "When I was studying, I had a good relationship with her. She always wanted to marry abroad, and she’s achieved her wish. But like my situation, shortly after marrying, her husband had an accident."
"Were the husbands your friends married to old men? Otherwise, how could they die so easily?"
In the West, this kind of situation seems quite normal.
After all, others want your body, and you want others’ money.
This seems like nothing that can’t be said.
"I’m not really sure either."
Xia Jing replied.
When leaving the hospital, there are also high-end hotels nearby.
Originally, Li Xiaofen wanted to arrange for Xia Jing to stay at her place, but the situation at home was more complicated, so she let Xia Jing and Ye Qiu stay at an outside hotel first.
At a nearby hotel, Ye Qiu and Xia Jing showed their passports and visas, as well as their personal identification, and requested two rooms.
The two of them couldn’t possibly stay in one room!
Ye Qiu booked a single luxury suite, as did Xia Jing.
This costs nearly a thousand US Dollars a day, which is quite expensive.
Upon receiving the room cards and heading up to their rooms, Ye Qiu pondered whether or not Miranda could come over?
Currently, it’s night in the United States, and certainly daytime back home.
Ye Qiu still decided to give Xiaomai a call.
"Xiaomai, tell my sister and my parents that I’ve arrived in New York."
He hung up the call with Xiaomai.
Ye Qiu took a comfortable shower.
When staying in hotels back home, you still have to worry about secret filming, but abroad, especially in America, you don’t need to worry too much about that.
After all, if caught, the hotel would have to pay a significant compensation.
After showering, Ye Qiu looked at the moonlight outside and found it quite nice.
So he directly started his cultivation.
Early the next morning.
Ye Qiu’s phone rang; it was a call from Xia Jing.
"Ye Qiu, let’s head to the hospital after breakfast."
Ye Qiu got up to wash up, got dressed, and went outside where Xia Jing was already waiting for him.
"Let’s just eat at the hotel."
The hotel certainly has breakfast, but it’s mostly bread and milk, which Ye Qiu really isn’t used to and finds unappetizing.
Nonetheless, after a quick, simple meal, they prepared to visit the hospital.
To Ye Qiu, as long as the person still had a breath of life, they’d be curable.
Now, having arrived at the hospital with Xia Jing, they saw Li Xiaofen outside, holding her head in distress.
These days, she hasn’t had a proper rest.
Others might think she would be glad, but in reality, she has been constantly worried about her husband’s health.
"Xiaofen, how are you doing?" Xia Jing asked.
"You, you guys are here. I just spoke with the doctors, and they say it’s impossible," said Li Xiaofen.
What they meant by impossible is that her husband, Mr. William’s condition was so severe, they said it was impossible to cure.
According to the doctors here, now it’s just a matter of waiting to die.
Waiting to die slowly under the torment of those western medicines and medical devices.
"Can’t we go and see your husband?"
"The hospital doctors said unless my husband dies first, only then we can go see him. Otherwise, they suspect I might be planning to get his money or something."
What the hell?
How are these Americans thinking?
In Li Xiaofen’s situation, if she really wanted his inheritance, she could just wait until he’s dead, not bring Ye Qiu over.
From this point, Ye Qiu found these Americans really amusing.
"I said I brought over a Huaxia doctor to see my husband, but they simply don’t believe it," added Li Xiaofen.
"Miss Li, go bring over that damn doctor and let me talk to him."
Ye Qiu said coldly.
Xia Jing, knowing Ye Qiu’s temper, took Li Xiaofen to find Mr. William.
About five minutes later, a middle-aged white man in hospital work attire and gold-rimmed glasses, accompanied by two female nurses, walked over.
As Mr. William’s second wife, this Chinese Li Xiaofen had come over with a friend to say she had brought over a skilled Huaxia doctor who could cure Mr. William.
Acing the field of cancer treatment, Dr. Smith, a Harvard Medical School neurosurgery graduate, laughed upon hearing a late-stage cancer patient could be cured.
That’s simply impossible.
Unless it’s early stage cancer, discovered promptly and treated with surgery or other means, maybe there could be some effect.
But now Mr. William is already in the late stage, with brain cancer cells having spread, how could anyone treat that?
When Dr. Smith arrived, Li Xiaofen said, "Dr. Ye, this is Dr. Smith from Harvard Medical School, also my husband’s chief doctor."
"I want to treat him, Mr. William."
Ye Qiu spoke directly to the other in English.
"Young man, are you a Huaxia doctor?"
Dr. Smith asked.
Ye Qiu nodded.
"Did you study Western medicine or Chinese medicine?"
Western medicine or Chinese medicine?
For Ye Qiu, he was neither a Chinese nor a Western medicine practitioner.
However, facing these foreigners, he would definitely claim to be in Chinese medicine.
"Let’s say Chinese medicine."
Chinese medicine?
The moment Dr. Smith and the two female nurses heard this, they laughed.
"Is it acupuncture or herbal medicine?"
Dr. Smith jokingly asked again.
"No medicine, no acupuncture."
No medicine, no acupuncture?
When the three heard this, they found it even more laughable.
"Madam William, where did you find this fraud?" Dr. Smith stared directly at Li Xiaofen.
At this remark, Xia Jing and Li Xiaofen both looked quite embarrassed.
If it weren’t for Li Xiaofen’s good attitude, Ye Qiu would have left already.
Ye Qiu slapped Dr. Smith; Dr. Smith did not expect that the young man would get angry and hit someone.
"You, why did you hit me?"
"You not only insulted me personally but also Chinese medicine."
"You, I’m going to call the police and have this fraud arrested," Dr. Smith said, fuming.
Though there are Chinese medicine practitioners even in America, like the vibrant ones in Chinatown here, however, in his view, Chinese medicine can treat minor ailments, but how can it treat late-stage cancer.
He suspected this man was a fake doctor brought by Li Xiaofen to somehow kill Mr. William and obtain the inheritance more quickly!
