Chapter 2135: Chapter 2095: Brain Cancer
Ye Qiu opened the design plans and was contemplating them when Cao Ling came up again.
She was preparing to return to the Military Region and would have classes at the Military School tomorrow.
"Ye Qiu, what are you working on?"
"Design plans."
Design plans?
"The design plans for my home."
Cao Ling knew Ye Qiu was multi-talented, but this was the first time she had seen Ye Qiu working on design plans.
The area, orientation, and surrounding environment of his family’s land were surely etched in his mind, so he’s sketching out the basic structure now.
"Ye Qiu, you’re really talented!" Cao Ling said.
"Not bad."
"I have to go back now."
Cao Ling said.
Ye Qiu stopped and kissed her on her red lips, saying, "Then you should head back."
This jerk!
Cao Ling went downstairs on her own.
Ye Qiu thought he could focus on drawing the design plans, but unexpectedly, Xiaomai came up.
"Xiaomai, what’s up?"
"Ye Qiu, Miss Xia is looking for you."
Miss Xia?
She meant Xia Jing.
Xia Jing had already moved into the Peach Blossom Source Villa Community, but the two hadn’t met since.
During the National Day holiday, Xia Jing visited Ye Qiu’s villa a few times and found it frequently closed with no cars parked.
However, upon coming over just now, she noticed Ye Qiu’s housemaid and Ye Xue had returned.
"Are you talking about that widow?"
"It should be her."
Ye Qiu came down and saw Xia Jing sitting there.
Admittedly, Xia Jing was well-maintained in all aspects; though she was in her thirties, she appeared only in her twenties, and her attire was quite fashionable.
Anyway, she had both time and money; if she didn’t spend them on herself, where else?
"Is there something you need?"
"Doctor Ye, I’d like to talk to you outside," Xia Jing said, somewhat awkwardly.
The two stepped outside to the yard.
Ye Qiu now looked at the fish in the pond, seemingly avoiding eye contact.
Am I really getting old?
Looking at Ye Xue and Xiaomai, Xia Jing indeed noticed they seemed much younger.
Youth brings a feeling that’s priceless.
"A friend of mine in the United States, her husband suddenly fell seriously ill. She hopes you can treat him; the medical fees aren’t a problem."
Her friend’s husband in the United States?
"Do you think I’d fly all the way to the United States for that money?"
"Doctor Ye, I beg you, my friend is also a pitiable person, much like myself, having married multiple times but each time facing tragedy with her husband."
"Isn’t that fortunate?"
Ye Qiu asked with a sneer.
These women marry several times, and each time something happens to the husband, eventually inheriting most of the estate, getting wealthier with each marriage.
Besides, Ye Qiu always felt that people like her don’t really have feelings.
"Is that how you see us?" Xia Jing seemed very upset.
She thought Ye Qiu perceived her as one of those people and thus didn’t want to interact with her.
However, thinking about it, Xia Jing realized that perhaps the world saw her that way, and no matter what she did, she couldn’t explain it.
Xia Jing felt helpless.
Seeing that Ye Qiu might ignore the matter, she prepared to leave.
"Are you mad?" Ye Qiu asked.
"You know I’m not the type of woman you imagine. I just want a husband who loves me, a complete family. But while fate has given me much, it has also taken much away, leaving me in constant pain. Don’t you understand?"
For Xia Jing, fate indeed bestowed much upon her, including looks and wealth.
However, in aspects like familial bonds, friendships, love, and family, she felt she was truly a failure.
If possible, she wished she were an ordinary person, living an ordinary complete life.
But now, Xia Jing couldn’t and dared not interact with other men, as she knew they wouldn’t survive her.
"Heh heh."
Ye Qiu looked at her and sneered again.
Xia Jing stood up, ready to leave, feeling as if, in Ye Qiu’s eyes, she would always be that kind of person.
"Couldn’t you have your friend’s husband brought to Jinling?"
Brought to Jinling?
Ye Qiu knew how cumbersome international travel was, especially when sorting out visas.
"Let me ask."
Hurriedly, Xia Jing took out her phone to call.
After the call, she looked at Ye Qiu and said, "The situation is dire, in a hospital in America, and the doctors definitely won’t discharge him to Huaxia."
"So I have to fly over?"
"Indeed."
"What exactly is the illness?"
"Brain cancer."
Brain cancer?
It’s certainly a hard-to-treat disease, particularly in the brain. Even the finest Western doctors struggle with surgical treatment, and as for chemotherapy and radiotherapy, they only accelerate cancer cell spread, worsening the condition.
"My friend told me that her husband’s brain cancer cells are showing severe spread."
Cancer cell spread?
"Isn’t medical science in the United States supposed to be advanced?" Ye Qiu asked.
"Relatively speaking, it is. Relative to the world, the United States is quite developed in modern medicine."
But facing diseases like cancer, the mortality rate is particularly high now.
Xia Jing knew that if it wasn’t for Ye Qiu, she might have had to deal with a mastectomy due to breast cancer, risking her life.
"Is a visa necessary?"
"It is."
Ye Qiu felt sorting out a visa was trouble, and he’d have to go to East Sea to the American consulate there.
"I’ll think about it."
Ye Qiu then went back inside, returning to the upper level.
Xia Jing didn’t leave immediately and stayed to chat with Ye Xue and Xiaomai.
She knew them.
However, she didn’t know Lin Xiang.
She learned that Lin Xiang’s a Chinese Malaysian studying at Jin University.
But she could tell that this beautiful Chinese woman surely had a complex relationship with Ye Qiu.
"Miss Xia, you live so close now, why don’t you come over often?" Ye Xue asked Xia Jing.
Ye Xue was aware of Xia Jing’s situation and sympathized with her.
"I’d like to come, but your brother isn’t very welcoming."
Ye Qiu doesn’t welcome her?
Ye Xue and Xiaomai found this baffling.
Though at times, Ye Qiu’s personality seemed odd, and he was very assertive.
However, it was always reasonable; Ye Qiu wouldn’t dislike or despise someone for no reason.
