Chapter 761: A Slight Miscalculation
Security arrived, making sure the changing room was empty before allowing the women in to change before returning to their rooms. There were reports to be made and forms to fill out. While security wasn’t police, they had extensive training in not only boat defense but also police tactics. And thanks to the on board lawyer, they had everything they needed to make sure things were in process before they even landed in port. Unfortunately for the two women involved, the cruise was no longer going to be the good time they had signed up for with their relationship problems hanging over their heads the rest of the journey, but at least their was also a sense of relief involved since things had finally taken a step forward instead of just waiting for things to explode.
Laz couldn’t help but feel a bit bad for them while watching security escort them away after giving their statements as Rachelle was still talking to the lawyer. There were security camera’s in the studio in case an incident happened, but they would need to be heavily modified before they could be shown to anyone else considering the type of activity that was going on. Needless to say, Laz wasn’t sure he was going to show up for the makeup class, but if he didn’t have anything else to do, he had to admit that the activity was somewhat beneficial for him.
’Not sure how I will be treated... but they all seemed like the friendly type at least...’ Laz thought, wondering why the thought of seeing so many women wanting to gobble him up made him slightly nervous?
’It wouldn’t have been a problem in the past... it’s just that now...’ Laz couldn’t help but think about his arm... as though it made him feel weaker.
’Ah well... fuck it. It’s not like it’s going to devolve into an orgy so why not go? Being seen is better than being a ghost on the ship, that’s for sure.’
"Hey! Wait a second." Rachelle said as she ran up to him.
"Yes mam? How can I help you?" Laz replied with a smile.
"Thanks for helping out with things. Since no fights or anything else broke out, no police reports need to be filled out or anything like that. But if you get a free moment, the ships lawyer would like to speak with you just to clear up your part of things anyway."
Laz got a bit nervous at this since he wasn’t actually suppose to be on the ship. Still, it was a large ship and it was easy to disappear as long as no one was looking for him. Worse came to worse, he would have to use his gaze to mess with the lawyer’s memory of their conversation, but that’s only if it came to it.
"Sure thing. I’ve got some plans but I can come tomorrow night and speak to them before the make up session if they are ok with that?" Laz said, thinking quick. He didn’t want to meet this lawyer in their office or arrange some other meeting around the ship since he wanted to be seen as little as possible. Although the yoga session was a public event, it was still private enough with few enough people to allow him to fly under the radar. He didn’t think anyone here would be looking for him under normal circumstances.
"Sure thing. Whatever works with your schedule. Since they don’t want to interrupt whatever plans you have, they are willing to work around your schedule. Thanks Laz," Rachelle said before the pretty blond in a sports bra and tight shorts leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek before running off again, not looking back.
’Shit...’ Laz said, before making his way to a buffet to grab a bite to eat then heading back to the room he occupied.
It was still early in the night and most couples hadn’t come back to their rooms yet, so no one saw Laz come back. He ended up on his balcony, looking out at the wide open ocean. The energy out here was different compared to on land. It had a different feeling as well, it was more wild and untamed which confused Laz in a way. Considering how far away he was from the Ancient Tree just in relative position, he figured it would normally be less, but the feeling on the water was one of a seething deep energy seeping low below the water line. Sitting down, Laz let his mind go as he spread his senses outward, away from the ship and into the murky deep, bringing the wild energy into his body.
As he circulated the infinity technique, he could feel the energy begin to rush towards him, but willed it to slow so that it wouldn’t attract any unwanted attention. He could feel, within the depths of the ocean, strong traces of beings that even made him a little nervous, despite his god realm.
When one of them caught the fluctuation of his sense and noticed the draw of energy towards him, Laz cut off the connection, not wanting to alert the beast any more. It was then that he heard the sounds of people in the rooms next to him.
Having used a few runes to make his room undetectable, he didn’t do the same thing for the ones next to him since he didn’t want too large of a part of the ship suddenly not being there plus he wasn’t sure just how much of an effect the runes would have. They would make it so no one tried to go into the room and even those looking at it would see nothing but empty wall. So it was all well and good to hide in as long as no one saw him walk into an empty wall. The hard part was not knowing what that would mean as far as ships logs and their computer system. Would it erase the room from the system as well? Runes interacting with technology was something Laz had a lot of experience with so he didn’t want to assume anything. And the biggest problem was that his name wasn’t on the ship’s register anywhere and he wasn’t assigned to the room he was currently in, assuming it existed in the system still. So as long as no one tried to question his room assignment or look him up on any system, he would be good.
Of course with people now on both sides of him, it would probably be harder to come and go and therefore made Laz consider whether he should find another empty room somewhere.
As soon as he had that thought though, the doors on both balcony’s on either sides of him opened up and two women came out on leaning on the railing and taking in deep breaths, almost like they had rehearsed the action.
Frozen in place, Laz just thought to himself that he hadn’t thought to make his balcony invisible as the turned to look at him.
"Laz!"
"It’s you!"
’Oh fuck me..’ Laz thought as he looked both left and right. The women on the left was the girlfriend from the yoga class, her light brown hair blowing in the breeze as the sundress she wore was flowing around her impressive curves. The woman on the right was the wife with the dirty blond hair and impressive cleavage who’s tank top and shorts were something a younger woman would wear, but didn’t look out of place on her at all.
"Oh my god. I didn’t even know there was a room between us."
"I know. But how lucky is this?" The wife asked, laughing a bit.
"Yeah? Who would have known?" Laz said waving to them both to cover his hand gestures to alter the runes on his door, not dispelling them, but altering them slightly so that only they could see the door from now on. He didn’t want someone else moved here but he could no longer hide it from them.
"So I forgot to introduce myself earlier. I’m Helen," the wife said first, extending a hand across the railing to shake Laz’s hand.
"Nice to meet you Helen," Laz said, shaking her hand in greeting.
"And I’m Kelly," the girlfriend said, extending a hand as well, which Laz walked over to and shook as well.
"Pleased to meet you too Kelly!" Laz said, returning her greeting.
"Is your misses present? We should probably apologize about today," Helen said, looking into the room, but not seeing anyone else.
"Ah that," Laz said, thinking quickly.
"To be honest, she didn’t end up coming with me. Originally we had planned this trip, but a last minute problem came up with her work and she had to go overseas to take care of that. Since we didn’t want to waste the tickets, she told me to go and enjoy myself since I hadn’t had a vacation in a while. And while it wasn’t the vacation I would have picked to go on by myself, we did already pay for it so... here I am..." Laz said with a chuckle as though amused at the situation but more because the lie had just come so naturally that he was surprised at himself.
Laz saw both women’s eyes go wide, but then return to normal quickly. In the low light, if it wasn’t because of his exceptional vision, he would have missed it.
"Oh, so you weren’t just coming to the class by yourself because she wanted to do something else?" Helen asked.
"No. I mean... What kind of guy would I be to come on a couples trip by myself? I didn’t want to be that weird guy others talked about... you know?" Laz said, acting a little shy about it.
"Makes perfect sense. I wasn’t exactly keen on getting through these next two weeks by myself either... but it seems like it won’t be so bad now..." Kelly said with a wink.
"I agree. In fact, how about we all go get dinner together? That way none of us will feel out of place? I’ll even charge it to my room. I might not be in my deluxe suite anymore, but at least now it seems like I can have a little fun!" Helen suggested getting an immediately acceptance from Kelly.
Laz was about to say he had already eaten... but seeing the hopeful and positive looks on their faces, he could only agree as all three went back in to get dressed up for the upper class dinning experience.
