Chapter 551: Back To Base

The truck ride was quiet as everyone was lost in their own thoughts.

Brittany was still both feeling the high from having killed Robert while also feeling the low that comes from now being without purpose. Revenge had been the only thing keeping her going after the death of her lover and now, with that gone, she had no idea what to do next. She had never even considered that she might have lived to see the day after Robert’s death and yet here she was.

Amira was in a slightly better place, but the harshness of taking lives wasn’t something she was coming to terms with easily. Sure, she had seen people killed before, but she had never pulled the trigger herself, so to speak. Still, she didn’t regret it and not because of Laz’s helpful words, but because she knew that if she was going to survive in this world with her abilities, she couldn’t be afraid to kill when the situation called for it. Thanks to Laz though, she would be much better able to handle having to do that in the future.

As for Laz, his thoughts were still on Rick and the situation there. While it wasn’t exactly his business to get involved in, the business was run and now mostly owned by his own ’wife,’ Kennedy. As such, he felt it was his responsibility to help with matters such as this. The only troubling point was that he had always blindly trusted that she and the others knew what they were doing and he respected that. In fact, part of him was rather jealous that she was so good as to run a multi-billion dollar operation like it was nothing, while he was just some guy off the street.

’No. Not jealous. Be real with yourself Laz... You’re just worried you’re not good enough for someone of her level. When she was just a small time dealer and you were her protection, you two made a good match. But now? With the kinds of people she can run with and match in the business sector? What are you to the likes of them?’ Laz thought to himself with a sigh.

’Heh... never thought I would have doubts about my own worth, yet here we are...’

Just as Laz was stopped at a light with his turning signal on, he felt a pressure on his right and looked over. Amira had drifted off at some point and began leaning against him. Further over from her, Brittany had done the same.

In the quiet of the truck cab, only the sounds of the turning signal clicking and the girl’s light breathing could be heard.

"Yeah. I guess it has been a long day..." Laz said out loud as he pulled forward and turned, his only companion now the lights of the city as he made his way along, back to the parking garage of the Hearn branch office, a place he wasn’t originally going to return to.

...

Pulling into a parking spot, Laz killed the engine. The girls were still sleeping but the movement of his body woke them up.

Laz didn’t mean to laugh, but watching Brittany have to wipe the drool from her mouth while Amira’s hair was puffed out like crazy made it impossible to hold back.

"What?" They both asked in a half asleep voice.

"Nothing. We’re here. You two can wait in the truck if you want?" Laz said, as he opened the door.

Both women looked at each other and couldn’t help but laugh at the state of one another. The laughter was enough to wake them up though and they followed Laz out of the vehicle.

When they got to the elevator, Laz leaned forward to scan his retina, but found the elevator had been shut down, with the scan failing to proceed.

"Well... this makes things more complicated," Laz said, wondering why the system was shut down entirely. As he was told earlier, when he first came here, the building is operational at all hours of the day with work going on at all times. As such, there is no reason why the elevator of the parking garage would be shut down. Had Laz scanned himself was was denied entry, that would just mean he wasn’t in the system. But seeing that it didn’t even work made the situation seem like it was worse than he thought.

"Hmm..." Laz said, thinking out loud. While the rune wards in place wouldn’t stop him considering who put them in place, the regular security system would cause him a hinderance if it was still active. Even though the elevator was shut down, the lights were still on so the system might be working in other areas. While he wasn’t sure when Rick was putting his plan into place with Deanna, he didn’t think that waiting for the morning and coming back was the best idea despite it already being past two in the morning.

Luckily, there were stairs nearby.

"Let’s go," Laz said, making his way over to the heavy steel door.

"And how do we get inside here?" Amira asked, trying the handle and finding the door locked. While she didn’t have ties to this place and didn’t care about it, she knew Laz did and since she was following him now, his problems were her problems.

"Easy. It’s just a door," Laz said, gripping the handle.

Then, with a slight tug, he ripped the handle off the door. Pushing the door, he found it was still locked and gave it a harder push, causing the bolts of the door to be slowed broken free from the cement wall as the door caved in on itself and swung open.

"Not a problem, right?" Laz said, taking to the stairs with the two women in tow.

"You do know there is probably a dozen alarms going off right now and armed guards coming to stop us, don’t you?" Brittany asked, running behind Laz. While he was the fastest and Amira was an awakened like him, Brittany was still just a chosen and not nearly as strong as either of them, even if she was level above normal chosen now. Seeing this, Laz dropped back, picked her up and began to princess carry her.

"What the hell are you..."

Faster this way, as there are still a few dozen floors to go. And yes, I’m sure this will alert someone. Actually, I will be more worried if this doesn’t alert anyone since it means the whole building has been compromised," Laz responded while running.

"And what exactly is your connection with this place? Is it a person or you an employee of the company or..." Brittany said, just trying to help settle her own brain. She wasn’t trying to get insider information, but was just curious.

Laz didn’t take offense to it, but he wasn’t going to answer her just yet either. While she had proved loyal while going after her own target, as a chosen, she would need a lot more proving before he trusted her.

They reached the second to the top floor in record time. The whole while they ran, they didn’t hear anything from any of the halls they passed, nor were there any signs of alarms ringing, furthering Laz’s feelings of unease.

As they reached the floor that Deanna’s office was on, Laz didn’t even bother trying the door, instead choosing the kick right through it.

As the door hit the ground, the lack of light was a clear indicator that something was wrong.

Laz spread out his spiritual sense to check what as going on and found that there was a huge commotion happening on the roof.

"Let’s go," Laz said, turning back into the stairwell and heading up to the roof, bypassing the private top floor that Laz’s wives used when they visited the area.

On the roof was a helicopter pad upon which was a heavy transport chopper and several men loading bundles into the flying behemoth.

Watching over the whole thing was Rick, along with several armed guards and two people dressed in long robes, their faces covered by red hoods to their point where their eyes weren’t even visible.

Tied up on the ground was Deanna along with her awakened body guard, a woman’s whose name Laz didn’t know.

"Oh? We have some company?" Said one of the robed men.

"Impossible. The entire building is on lock down. No one can even get through the runes, much less the security system. And everyone who is here is already trapped within their areas while we do a terrorist drill..." Rick said, bring up his phone to access the building’s security system as it had been on silent while he had been enacting his plan.

Even before the unlock screen could be cleared, the strong, metallic double doors that lead to the stairwell burst open, revealing a slightly annoyed Laz along with his two companions. Laz had put Brittany down before kicking it open.

"Rick! How nice to run into you again. Sadly there was no one to greet me in the parking garage so I decided to let myself in. Seems like I might have come at a bad time," Laz said, eyeing Deanna who was currently tied up and squirming on the ground, her body wiggling in weird ways that didn’t seem like she was fighting her restraints so much as she was trying to do something else.

"Hey bud. Far be it from me to kink shame... but your girlfriend here didn’t seem like the type to enjoy an audience while being tied up and gagged. Course what do I know, right? And... are those people in those sacks your transporting? Alright... I’m at a loss as to what kind of kink this even is anymore. Guess I’m just going to having to bring everyone inside and get to the bottom of this..." Laz said, striding forward. Of course he already knew what was happening when he was down below, but for all his strength, he had to admit that Celes had a gift when it came to runes so even for him, he could only get a general idea of what was happening. It was only after he had kicked those double doors open that the entire scene on the roof became clear to him.

As for his babbling, that was just to by time to get the full picture.

Rick turned a pale shade, seeing that Laz was here. He knew that he couldn’t fight Laz, even if his life depended on it. Instead, he yelled to the guards,

"FIRE"

But before they could even respond, Brittany’s hand shot out, tossing a couple wind blades at the men and ending their lives within seconds by removing their heads.

While it wasn’t the way Laz would have done it, he had to admit it was quick and effective.

"Sir Priests. This one wishes to stop the transportation of the newest converts to the lust god. I humbly request your assistance in stopping his advance," Rick said, turning to the two men in red robes.

Seeing how things had developed, neither robed man showed any signs of irritation but instead turned to Rick.

"If we help, it shall increase the percentage of our cut. After all, we were simply here to facilitate the move, not deal with your lack of planning," said one of them in a very odd voice.

"I understand, dear priest. Thank you for your assistance with this trouble," Rick said, motioning the others to get moving with the rest of the sacks of people.

They stepped forward to stop Laz’s group.

"And who might you two be?" Laz asked, keeping his eyes on the transport. He knew it wouldn’t move until Deanna was loaded, but he didn’t want to risk losing the others.

"We are we. The twin priests of the Lust God, the one who shall rule this world," they said with a bow at the same time... weirdly.

"Heh... Another god wanting to rule this world... Actually... come to think of it... the other gods I met never said anything about ruling the world... I wonder why?" Laz stopped as a few thoughts ran through his head.

"You are strong."

"You should join us."

"You would be most welcome."

"Our god would embrace you with open arms."

They kept going on and on, but Laz raised a hand to them.

"Enough. I’ve got enough gods to worry about without adding yours to the list. And besides, I already met him... them... and I have to say I am not very impressed. It couldn’t even kill me with it had the chance."

"You... BLASPHEMER!!!"

"YOU SHALL PAY FOR YOUR DISRESPECT!"

The two ’men’ shouted before throwing their robes aside.

The first thing that caught Laz’s attention was that one of them was a chosen while the other was an awakened, but there was a strange energy underlying their aura’s one that felt dirty and corrupt.

As for the other thing that got his attention... they were both wearing string bikini tops and super short skirts underneath their robes.

Laz was taken aback at first, thinking that he had mad a mistake. Their voices sounded neither masculine nor feminine, but a combination of the two. Still, with their ’outfits,’ exposed, he could tell that both had a rather nice set of breasts hidden by the thin fabric.

"Oh... Um. I’m sorry ladies... I didn’t mean..." Laz cut off his sentence right away as he noticed something he wished he hadn’t.

As they both both stood there, their breasts heaving in anger; he noticed something else was heaving... well... swinging side to side.

Before Laz’s brain could even compute, Brittany spoke up,

"OMG... Real life fem-boys!"
