Chapter 543: You’re Going To What?

"HA! I knew you had it in you. What’s with the mask though brother?" Leo said backstage while a woman worked to get the bit of makeup off his face.

"Our young friend here has need to hide his identity Leo. I believe I’ve told you before about his unique situation?" Max, Leo’s caretaker for lack of a better word, said. While Leo was no longer part of the race for the head of the Hearn family, having walked away from it after their last meeting, Max had stuck with him through it all. The man managed everything about Leo’s life and schedule, taking care of him the way a father would take care of his son. While that wasn’t what either of them intended, neither of them were opposed to it.

"Oh? Right right... the most wanted thing?" Leo said before getting glared at from Max. The young woman removing his makeup didn’t stop at all, clearly not interested in their conversation. Despite this, Max didn’t want Laz’s identity to get around as it could negatively impact Leo.

Sensing this and seeing Max’s eyes drift over to her, Leo just smile.

"Hey, it’s ok. Shelly is cool and doesn’t talk about things like that," Leo affirmed before patting her on the ass.

Shelly, for her part, took a step back and seeing that everything was done, slapped him in the face before turning around and walking away.

"One of your ex’s?" Laz asked, laughing.

"Well.... Yes... and No... I mean... we didn’t actually break up... but since she had a fiancé, we also didn’t exactly date either..." Leo said, faking a hurt look while also rubbing his cheek.

"Why in the hell do you wear makeup anyway? I mean... you like nice enough as it is I guess. Not as handsome as me.... but you’re not exactly ugly..." Laz said, poking fun at him.

"Fuck you, twice. It’s cause without anything on, even the best of skin gets kind of bright under the lights. The makeup makes it less reflective since it gets hot as fuck and you’re going to sweat. Well, maybe not you, but us normal humans to."

"Ah. Makes sense. Got to keep that money maker in top shape since you’ll never get anywhere on just your talent alone."

"This was just a side gig for my sister’s place. She’s recording things to help me put together some videos and doing it for free since we’re splitting the profits. Also.... again. Fuck you."

Both men laughed a bit as Max smiled. While they hadn’t been too close the last time Laz worked for Leo, after everything that had happened, there had been some shared respect there. Now, years later, both men had grown up and become... more. While Leo was great with getting girls, the relationships never lasted. At the same time, he didn’t really have close guy friends either. The guys in his band had all been switched out over the years for one reason or another so while they got along, it was a working relationship and not much more than that. Sure he could drink with his bandmates, but they weren’t at the level of having a bus orgy together as they hadn’t been together for that long.

"Glad you two are getting along. Now lets go. I think your dates are waiting for you," Lessa said, walking up to them. She was dressed in a knee length, red dress with slits up the side that caused the fabric to sway when she walked. What’s more, the way she moved made one’s gaze fall on her back side whether they wanted to or not as it’s sway was hypnotic. Despite knowing what she was, Laz couldn’t help but admit that she was quite beautiful.

"I shall take my leave then. Have a good night young sir, young miss, Laz," Max said before bowing a bit and turning to leave.

"You can come hang with us old man. It’s not a problem," Leo suggested.

"And you’re no longer a family butler Max. No need to be so formal," Lessa added.

"It’s alright. Besides, he seems to have someone waiting for him... oh? Two someone’s eh? You old hound..." Laz said with a grin, causing Leo and Lessa’s eyes to go wide.

"It seems young Laz’s senses are rather extraordinary as the reports say. While I don’t know much about your kind, It seems I really don’t have to worry about their safety with you around."

"Of course not. Go enjoy yourself. I see they are both quite stunning... Hopefully you can get out of bed in the morning..." Laz laughed, causing even the older man to turn a bit red. After all, it was true the women were quite a bit younger than him, but still old enough to be mom’s to teenager’s themselves. And he just happened to have a rather good reputation among that crowd. After all, one of the women he knew... the other... he was going to be ’meeting’ for the first time tonight.

When Max finally left, Laz turned to look at Leo and Lessa and noticed they were still surprised. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"What?"

"It’s just..."

"Yeah. Uncle Max with women... huh..."

"He’s a guy after all. Not like he doesn’t have needs. No worries."

"Guess you’re right. So then, how’s about we go upstairs and meet these friends of yours?" Leo suggested before they got up. Backstage, there was a special elevator allowing them to go to the top floor without needing to walk around in the crowd.

"Nice place you got here," Laz said to Lessa.

"While my brother had a club first, this one is my own thing and as it turns out, I’m much better at running one than he his," Lessa joked.

"Yeah. What can I say, my place was a shit hole compared to this. But don’t forget where some of that investment money for this place came from."

"I paid you back so don’t go acting all high and mighty on my now."

"Ha. That you did. So anyway, what are you doing out here in Nevada anyway?" Leo asked, turning his attention to Laz.

"Just passing through. Got some business to do in the area and noticed you were putting on a show. Figured I would just drop in to say hi before heading on my way."

"Business huh?" Lessa asked, a bit hesitant.

"Something on your mind sis?" Leo questioned, but Lessa was staring at Laz instead.

"Oh. Don’t worry. Nothing that will have anything to do with this place... at least not while we are here. Actually, I do have some personal business with one of your guests, but I’ll take care of that after they leave. No need for either of you to get involved. What’s more, that wasn’t my original intention for coming here. Actually I’m heading a bit more up north," Laz said, without actually giving away anything.

Not that not doing so stopped Lessa’s mind from working.

"The strange pyramid and the cult, huh?" Lessa asked, after being silent for a moment.

"You know?" Laz was a bit startled that someone human would know about the things happening.

"What? What are you both talking about?" Leo asked as the elevator doors opened, allowing them in.

"My brother here is obsessed with two things; his career and women. So usually he has no idea what’s happening and where. As for me, I make sure to keep up with every dark secret and rumor that is going around. This little piece of paradise of mine needs to know when to tread lightly and some things we can’t get involved in. As for that place, yeah. I heard some things. But... back to the other matter. You’re talking about the guests in room three... right?" Lessa asked, hesitant.

’Right... Ok...’

"Yeah. You’re about to tell me something about them, aren’t you?"

"What is your personal business with them, if I may be so bold as to ask?"

"Not all of them, just the one named Robert," Laz corrected.

"That doesn’t make it any better. Look, besides being one of the upper echelon of the chosen, his father is also casino owner, land owner and has many government ties and connections. Him and his entourage get the best suite and whatever freebies they want when they are here. If it wasn’t for his personal image and the fact that we are a rather well respected establishment in this circle along with being one that can keep secrets, I couldn’t imagine the types of things he would do with our staff when he’s here. Luckily I have a few connections of my own that enjoy our services so he keeps his hands on his own things. And that probably the only nice thing I can say about him. Hell... the number of dead girls I’ve had to clean up after because if him is just... I wish it were otherwise, I really do. But I can’t have anything happening to him here."

"I don’t plan on doing anything here as I already said. but once he leaves, he’s fair game," Laz said, feeling his anger creep up even more. Sure, he didn’t agree with Lessa helping to clean up the bastard’s messes, but he also wasn’t so stupid as to believe one couldn’t survive without getting their hands dirty, something this city specialized in. They then exited the elevator and walked into the first room suite where Amira and Brittany were getting new drinks from the young server.

’When in Rome...’ Laz thought to himself in the silence.

"So... what do you plan to do to him once he leaves?" Leo asked, still having trouble following the conversation.

"I’m going to kill him. Well... maybe not me personally, but I will make sure he is dead before the sun rises tomorrow," Laz responded without much thought, thinking it would probably be better to let Brittany have her own revenge.

"Wait... You’re going to what?" Leo said, his mind finally catching up.

"After everything I’ve just told you?" Lessa asked, more shocked than her brother.

"Look," Laz said turning around to face them both.

"Remember who I am? It doesn’t matter who I kill because in the end, they all want me dead anyway. So what if his daddy is a casino boss or a fucking mob boss? I fought fucking gods before. I stood my ground against an alien terminator. Hell... I’m about to go square up with a god damned Eldritch nightmare. When compared to all that, taking out some small time piece of shit and pissing off his father barely qualifies as a blimp in my timeline. Hell, if I didn’t respect the both of you, I’d just off him right now and be done with it. But be scared or something? By them? Nah. It’s just not a part of my nature."

It was arrogant to the point of top class ego stroking... but for some reason not a single person in the room thought Laz was lying.

What’s more... As Laz finished his little speech... it almost seemed like he had an aura around him that even the normal Lessa and Leo could see.

One of godlike and regal power.
