Chapter 539: The Concert Crazy
Laz didn’t know what to say. He didn’t know this girl, didn’t owe her anything and considering what she was, should have hated her. But something inside made him want to help her.
Was it because she was pretty? Well, that didn’t hurt her case. Not that he wouldn’t have helped a not so attractive person, it just was easier when the person was beautiful. As for why that was? A beautiful person usually has far more pride and ego and when they beg, it triggers a dominate nature in the one they are begging. That’s not to say that an unattractive person can’t be prideful or egotistical, just that the sense of domination doesn’t exist so the feeling of wanting to do so doesn’t affect the decision as much.
Did she have something he wanted?
That really was a no. He didn’t need money or her connections. With the strength he had, there were few things that money could offer him that he couldn’t get himself if he wanted. As such, he found that there wasn’t much that he really wanted.
The more he thought about it, the more it came down to one very simple fact... she should be his enemy, but she wasn’t. At least not in this instance. Not only that but she seemed to be able to control herself, something he had not seen from the other chosen who all seemed to have a screw loose. So perhaps the domination feeling was in effect, but he couldn’t say it was just that, instead, he felt like there was something more happening in the back of his mind.
"What was it? The enemy of my enemy is my friend?" Laz said softly, but out loud.
That’s what triggered it for it, the feeling of helping her. She hated one chosen enough to want to kill him, so how many others were there that hated those who oppressed them? And while the awakened weren’t much better in many aspects, the strong having sway over the weak, due to being enemies with the world, most infected were far more united and less prone to take advantage of each other.
Laz reached out a hand to her and set it on her shoulder. When Brittany looked up, she saw the smile on Laz’s face and she knew he would help her.
The tears started flowing again and she couldn’t stop them.
The whole time Amira just sat off on the side, looking on like she was watching a drama play out right in front of her. It wasn’t that she was immune to Brittany’s suffering, it was just something she had grown used to thanks to where she had lived and the stories her parents used to tell her. Amira counted herself lucky that she had stayed out of trouble as long as she had, but as she grew older she knew that things wouldn’t always go her way. She considered herself pretty enough and knew that if someone stronger than her ever got their hands on her or if she was ever found out to be an infected, her life would be worse than hell at that point. It didn’t help that her parents constantly chastised her about the way she dressed and the choices she made and also tried to set her up with a husband repeatedly.
’At least he was only ten years older than me this time, unlike those fifty or sixty year old men they had tried to in the past. God I’m glad we moved to the states otherwise I would have never of been able to say no...’
Laz didn’t encourage Brittany to stand or even tried to hold her this time. Instead he let her cry herself out and compose herself as she could. When she sat back down, she told Laz everything she knew about the man in question.
His name was Robert and was part of the higher ups in the area. His money was about as shady as the businesses he ran, but he did have a lot of it. Thanks to his position and his ability to generate funds for the church of the chosen, not only was he strong himself, but he had several strong helpers as well. As for how strong he was, Brittany couldn’t answer that since even six months ago, she wasn’t anywhere near his level.
"He’s in the third VIP suite I think, the one farthest from the door, but I’m not really sure..." Brittany finally admitted.
Laz sent out his sense slightly, just touching lightly upon the people in the room next to him. Seeing that there was no response, he then slid his attention to the room at the far end. Laz had to hand it to Lessa, this entire place was pretty incredible. There were even private bathrooms in each suite so no one would have to leave the room if they didn’t want to.
As for touching the third room, Laz halted as soon as his sense cleared the wall. There was no denying that several people in that room had the aura of a chosen and since Laz didn’t want to alert them despite not having met a chosen with an activated spiritual sense, he backed away quickly. He noticed that several auras in the room belong to normal people and from the looks of things, they were not having a good time, but he couldn’t dwell on it for the moment.
"There is someone over there, several some ones and they are pretty strong," Laz said out loud before laying back and getting lost in thought. Seeing this, Brittany was worried that Laz might now refuse to help, but since he hadn’t done so right away, she didn’t say anything.
After a little while of waiting with no response from Laz, Amira called back in the young bartender and ordered more to drink, with Brittany by her side, getting the strongest thing she could think of in hopes of taking the edge off her nerves.
Just then, the show started.
With the lights fading and the boom of sounded echoing across the floor, Laz focused his attention on the stage.
The first thing he noticed was that Leo had changed. He no longer had blue hair no was he dressed trendy. Instead, he had taken on a more hardcore vibe with black hair and even several new tattoos. As for the music, it was no longer some light and positive melodies or even upbeat dance beats. Instead, it was harder, with an edge that spoke to some obvious problems he had been through in the past few years. While he didn’t look like he struggling just from his complexation and body language, the words he sang spoke to some deep feelings he had inside.
But either way, he looked to be in good health and that was a good thing for Laz.
The girls both seemed to be drawn into the melody as Leo sang and it seemed like they were in a trance.
After the first song ended, it seemed like they both woke up. Strangely though, they didn’t go back to their own seats and instead sat on both sides of Laz, forcing him to the center of the love seat. While Laz didn’t mind, he ended up finding it a bit crowded. Since he didn’t have anywhere else to put his hands, he ended up laying them on the back of the couch, effectively draping them over the two girls. While they both seemed startled at first, they both ended up leaning into him, obviously being slightly influenced by their drinks.
Brittany leaning on him kind of made sense, but Amira was a surprise. When he looked down at her, she looked back at him and smiled, not one of suggestion, but more of one of enjoyment. Laz got the impression that she was just enjoying the moment and the new environment she was in.
As the songs progressed and the crowd started going wild, Laz felt a shift in the overall atmosphere of the club. It was like there was a special magic that was in the air. Laz had never been a big one for clubs, especially having worked in one before. But even he was feeling in the mood.
Like being drawn into a current, Laz felt Brittany’s hand on his tight. Looking down at her, she looked back at him, a hint of hesitation in her eyes. He then felt another hand on his other thigh and looked over, seeing Amira’s eyes gazing up at him as well.
’What?’ Laz thought to himself.
Amira moved her hand up and touched Laz’s cheek, then brought his head down for a kiss. It felt like a wild expression, something she was new to and clumsy with, but one that she was totally into. When the wet kiss broke, Laz felt another hand on his other cheek and turned to see Brittany moving his head closer to hers.
"I thought you were only into women?" Laz barely managed to asked, wrestling with the feelings coursing through him.
"Just shut up," she said, none of the sounds of submission she had before.
After breaking that kiss with him after a long several minutes, Brittany noticed Amira’s gaze on her and leaning across Laz, the two women then began kissing one another, the beat of the music in perfect rhythm to their hearts.
After another several minutes of this, both women broke the kiss at the same time and sat back, shocked as though having been electrocuted.
Kissing Laz had been like bathing in lava; scorching, burning and mind numbing.
Kissing each other had been like being hit by lightning; body rocking and heart stopping.
"More..." they both purred as they both rushed to claimed Laz’s lips again.
