Chapter 534: A Bit Of Face Slapping

Laz had the location of the show programmed into the gps that was mounted to the dashboard of the old truck. When he first started it up, it roared to life like a sleeping beast, awakening from it’s slumber. While Laz had asked for an older, tough vehicle, he hadn’t expected this. While not obvious on the outside, the under the hood modifications caused him to not even begin to guess the amount of horsepower this thing put out. As for the body itself, all badging had been removed, but it reminded him of the boxy yet sleek style that was present in the early 90s. It has also been well maintained and reminded him of a truck his grandpa used to drive that he liked to call his ’lightning.’

As for his passenger, she was looking out the window with a lost look on her face, still mulling over the information that had come to them from Deanna. While blurry and in black and white, that creature was enormous and horrid looking, like a demon from hell. It was no wonder why she had felt so nervous since then when faced with the fact that her younger sister might have come into contact with such a creature.

"Did you want me to drop you off somewhere?" Laz asked, wondering why this woman was still following him around.

Amira didn’t respond at first, just watching the street and cars pass by as though lost in her own world.

"Are you going there still?" She finally asked.

"Yes."

"Are you going to kill that creature?"

"Uhhhh...." Laz hadn’t thought about it, mostly because he had no idea how strong it was. If it was just big, that was one thing. But if it was as strong as it was huge, like a real god or something, then there was no way Laz could take it down. He still remembered being helpless before Maya, even if he kind of conquered her in the end.

"I see... I want to come with you..."

"And that is a bad idea," Laz said without hesitation.

"I want to find my sister... no... I need to find her."

"You won’t find anything if you end up getting yourself killed."

"But you’re still going..."

"I don’t plan on dying." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

"Neither do I," Amira said, finally turning towards Laz and showing a look of determination on her face.

"Just because I don’t plan on it doesn’t mean it won’t happen," Laz continued.

"Then why are you still going?"

"Because someone asked me to, someone I couldn’t say no to. Unlike us, she... they... have a strong sense of righteousness within them. Or, maybe if I’m being a bit more honest, I don’t want to see them injured and I know that if I don’t go, they will."

"Sounds like you’re being an idiot," Amira said with a half smile.

"Wouldn’t be the first time, won’t be the last."

"So why would they have to go? It’s not like they’re the government so isn’t it someone else’s job to explore these unknown things?" Amira then asked.

"Because right now this lump of rock floating through space is standing on the edge of a cliff. Something goes wrong or someone makes the wrong move and hell could be unleashed on this planet. Sadly, the government isn’t taking the right steps to prevent this so instead, we have to fend for ourselves most of the time."

"Back in my country, questing the government would be a death sentence," Amira mused.

"Welcome to America where you can say what you want and shit talk who you want... just make sure you pay your taxes and don’t expect anything in return and you’ll be fine."

"Not really a good way of looking at things, is it?"

"Well, I am currently the most wanted man in the country so you’ll have to forgive me for being a bit sarcastic," Laz said, laughing.

"Ha. You? The most wanted man in the country? Spare me..." Amira said, laughing a bit at what she thought was a joke.

Laz didn’t correct her. Instead, he turned the corner, pulled into a parking lot behind a club and parked the old truck. Without saying a word to Amira, he turned off the truck and got out, making for the door. Amira quickly followed behind him.

Standing at the door was a tall, well built man who was easily over six feet tall. Compared to the shorter and less stocky Laz, the man was a monster. He also wasn’t alone as there were two more security guards standing there as well, all of them armed quite openly.

"Invitation?" The man said, his face not changing in the slightest.

"I’m a friend of Leo’s. Is he performing here tonight?" Laz asked, obviously not in possession of an invitation. Incidentally, while Deanna could get him one, it wouldn’t be for tonight unless they physically stole it from someone else. Afterall, they had nothing to do with this particular show despite having their hands in a lot of things. While the venue wasn’t huge, it was sold out months in advance and even for a powerhouse company like theirs that could get tickets, they couldn’t get it at the drop of a hat. What’s more, some of the people attending the show were rather powerful individuals themselves that the Hearn group wouldn’t cross unless it was a damn good reason.

They didn’t think Laz wanting to attend the show tonight before he left town was a good enough reason.

"Piss off if you don’t have an invitation. You’re holding up the line," the gruff man said, despite there not being anyone behind them. Actually, the reason for the security at the door was so that people didn’t have to wait. And since the only ones allowed in were those with a pass, no one was waiting to get into a club that wasn’t going to allow them in anyway.

"I was just asking if Leo was performing here. It’s a simply question you know..." Laz said, not losing his cool. This man was just doing his job in the end.

"The fuck is with these broke ass fans trying to get into a show they have no business being at. You think just cause you’re fans that your friends with Leo himself? Fucking poor people piss me off," said a man who was clearly in his early 30’s in a white suit with long blond hair who approached the door. On his arm was a way too young woman in a shimmering black dress that barely covered her ass. Compared to Laz and Amira, the difference was astounding. Laz looked down at his long sleeve shirt that was faded and his dark blue jeans and then looked at Amira’s black leggings and thick hoodie. It was quite clear they hadn’t come dressed for the occasion.

"Hmm... I guess he does have a point, doesn’t he?" Laz said after giving Amira a frown which she returned with a scowl that clearly said, "why the hell are you blaming me?"

"Let’s go," Laz said, making his way to the cross walk and crossing the street.

The man in white was laughing as he watched Laz walk away and turned back to the bouncer, giving him his pass. He felt a sudden tug on his sleeve as the young woman was grabbing his attention.

"What the fuck do you want now?" He said, a little annoyed. His name was Chaz while the woman on his arm was a girl that his parents had set him up with, someone from a rich background that his parents wanted to make a connection too. She was a sheltered little girl who had just barely turned twenty one named Brittany that had no experience with men whatsoever as far as either he or his parents knew. She had gone to an all girls school and had just graduated college with a degree in forensics, despite her shy personality and demeanor.

Either way, after dating for a few months now, he was no closer to taking her to bed that when he had first met her, something that pissed him off to no end. Having such a first class beauty in front of him yet being unable to devour her was like torture, especially because he was dead scared of angering her parents. What was more, his own parents kept a close eye on him so that he didn’t have the opportunity to go seek release elsewhere and potentially kill the rewards that would come from their families working together.

After having only his hand to comfort him for a few months, his temper was getting worse and worse. She was a fan of Leo since she had heard his debut album a few years ago and asked him to bring her to this show that was close by since he was notorious for only doing small time concerts. He was going to decline until he discovered the venue was a, upper class strip club, a place he could actually cut lose and maybe get lucky all while she was happy attending a concert of her idol.

It seemed like a win win, but he was still in a bad mood all the same, at least he felt he would be until he could get his dick wet.

"Look," Brittany said, pointing to the large building across the street.

Chaz read the sign on the door and discovered it was a high end designer shop and began laughing when he saw the broke man and his cheap date walk inside.

Stepping off to the side for a moment and watching Chaz figured he could get a further laugh as he watched them get chased out before heading inside.

After several minutes of waiting and not yet seeing them being chased out, Chaz started to frown, wondering if maybe they were being beaten a bit before getting tossed out.

After a half hour though, he saw the door open and several suited man walked out, making straight for the street. They were followed by a well dressed man in a black suit, his jacket accented with silver designs along with a sexy woman, her silver dress coming down to her knees but with a slit that seemed to almost go up to her waist.

The men fearlessly crossed the road, causing traffic to come to a standstill while the two made their way across the street, no where near the cross walk. Once they got across, the couple walked up to the bouncer who immediately recognized them as Laz and Amira, much at the same time that Chaz and Brittany did.

Even Chaz’s mouth was hanging open at the low cut and high slitted dress Amira was wearing, her dark and silky hair done up with a light green jade pin that seemed to glow in the fading light of the evening.

"I’m sorry. Without an invitation, I can’t let you in," the bouncer said, a little weary. He wasn’t an idiot and quickly grasped what was going on. Not only had they managed to get into that exclusive place across the street, but they had been taken care of immediately. That wasn’t the type of service just anyone could get.

"Not a problem," Laz said, producing an invitation from his jacket and handing it to the bouncer before being allowed in.

Amira just glared at Chaz who was watching from the side and laughed as they walked in. After what had just happened, she was feeling that following Laz around might be just the opportunity she was looking for.
