Chapter 471: Battle Of The Manor (Part 3)

Laz had no idea what was happening in the basement, trusting that they would be able to take care of themselves. After all, he had enough to worry about without having to think about others.

Laz and the corpse man danced back and forth, exchanging blows. While it looked like they were evenly matched, Laz knew he was just one fuck up away from getting his ass handed to him.

The body of the corpse man was proving to be the biggest obstacle, as it seemed like it took no damage. Even when Laz landed a hit that sent him flying, the dude would just climb out of any hole or impression he had just been knocked into and go back at it like it was nothing.

Several times Laz wanted to pull out Sever and see if that made a difference, it’s ability to cut anything would be really helpful, but he felt that might not be the best idea although why he felt that way, he didn’t know.

’So far, he’s only been fighting me fist to fist. But once we break out weapons, who knows what might happen? After all, this armor is amazing and not something I could have gotten back home. The way it moves is like a fabric, but it has stopped his claws from shedding my insides more than once.’ Laz said, as he dodge another blow aimed for his head and again sent the man flying.

One thing Laz had going for him in this fight was the martial arts training he had gotten back in the day. Thanks to that, he was able to handle the corpse’s speed which was faster than him. It also helped that the corpse seemed somewhat stiff, it’s movements just straight forward punches and kicks. The longer they fought, the more Laz noticed it and reacted, easily using his training to evade most of the attacks.

And that was a good thing considering that the corpse man, besides being faster than him was also way, way stronger.

Laz first noticed it when he back stepped, avoiding the thing trying to stomp his foot. The resulting stomp that his the floor caused even the stone underneath the house to crack out in all directions. While Laz was strong, this stone was layer, compresses and reinforced over thousands of years. There was no way he could have cracked it like that.

Another time, Laz ducked to the side to avoid a punch and sent the corpse into the wall. The punch that followed after caused the wall to explode outward.

Laz didn’t want to think about how that attack would have felt if it connected. Even with the solid protection of the armor, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t be smash like an egg just from the incoming force.

Something the mention was that the explosion of the light fixture had caused a massive hole to appear in the front of the building, having blown away the door and everything around it in the blast. As for the troops who had followed him in, he had ordered them to collect the dead and wounded and retreat. Now that there was only this dead man and him fighting now, there was no need for them to put themselves in harm’s way.

’Is he stalling for time?’ Laz finally had that thought after having fought back and forth for several minutes without anything being settled.

With another pivot, Laz again avoided an attack aimed at his chest and stepped back, trying to find a weakness.

The corpse man didn’t attack again right away, instead eyeing Laz with a burning gaze despite not having eyeballs.

"HA HA HA. IT’S DONE. SHE FELL FOR IT. NOW WE JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR HER TO DIE AND WE WIN!!!" Came the call from one of the blown out rooms on the second floor.

Hearing the voice, Laz looked up to find the old crazy man from the gate standing there with almost two dozen other people.

None of them wore robes anymore and one could see a green flame alight on each one of their bodies.

Laz then looked back at the corpse and thought he saw it frown, but the lack of skin on it’s face made it almost impossible to say for sure.

Now though, there was a new problem. While the corpse was hard enough to deal with, standing in that ruined room were potentially two dozen more opponents, and at least three of them surpassed Laz’s realm.

"Fuck," Laz cursed and then jumped back.

The corpse man shrugged and stood up, looking like he had lost all the will to fight.

"Well. I guess that’s that then. You’re pretty tough kid, I’ll give you that. But in the end, this wasn’t about me and you. You should probably leave. Leave here and leave this pocket dimension. Like I said before, it’s all going to fall apart soon anyway so even if that door is there, it will be open soon. I don’t know what these people promised you to fight for them, but it isn’t worth your life. Go home kid. You’ve done enough," the corpse man said, turning around to walk away.

"That isn’t your choice. This bastard harmed my grandson so he has to die," the old man upstairs said, as though ordering the corpse man to do it.

"DO IT YOUSELF THEN. FUCK. He isn’t my grandson cause if he was, I would have beaten him to death by now. I can’t even believe you’re talking to me right now. Oh how fucking low I’ve fallen. I’m not just dead, I’M FUCKING BURNING IN HELL AND THESE PIECES OF SHIT MUST BE MY ETERNAL TORMENT," the corpse man said, sometimes yelling and sometimes not. But in the end, he didn’t stop and just kept walking until he disappeared from sight.

Laz looked back at the faces upstairs, only to see a look of anger on the old man’s face. It was clear he was pissed off at the corpse man for not following his orders, but it also seemed like he wasn’t going to do anything about it either.

The group eyed Laz, still standing while facing their way.

"Whatever. Grand elders, go and take it head as a gift for my grandson. Everything is now set and there is no stopping it. We should made haste so that we aren’t buried inside here when everything collapses. The rest of you follow me. There are some things we need to take with us and we’re running out of time to pack," The old man said, gesturing for the other’s to follow him while the two grand elder’s eyed Laz like a they were pitying a fool.

"I’m staying here until he is dead grandpa. Then I will come join you," the young man who’s ass Laz had previously kicked before in the park said before he turned his attention back to Laz. The old man turned to look at him, but shook his head with a smile before leading the rest of them away.

"Time to die boy," one of the grand elders said as he flew towards Laz, intent on ending him as soon as possible.

Laz knew that running would be impossible, as this one coming at him had a power level like that of Sylvia, at the Void Emperor realm. While he was able to fight off Sylvia at first, that was because she wasn’t really trying to kill him. And what’s more, she was still in the Void Lord realm at that time. After her rise in power, Laz could feel that it would be a lot harder to do that now.

What’s more, now there was two of them attacking him. Turning his back on them would be akin to opening himself up for an attack.

Bracing himself, Laz finally drew out Sever and was prepared to take them both down with him, before he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"We’ve got this boy. The mother needs you, right now."

It was the old grandmother from the council of elders that he had met the other day when he had gotten rid of the Infernal Beetles.

Not just her, but also several of the old men were there as well, letting their aura’s blaze with fury.

Now it was six Void Emperors versus the two from the first family. Laz couldn’t help but let a breath out of his body in relief.

A relief that only lasted a minute as the old woman ended up coughing and spitting out a mouthful of blood.

"Grandma?" Laz said, not sure how to address that woman.

Looking closer, Laz noticed the old woman was pale, ghastly pale. And the five old men didn’t look any better than her. Despite that, they pulled out their weapons and prepared to fight those other two to the death.

"We are tied to the mother goddess dear boy. We don’t know what happened to her, but something bad resulted in their raid on the basement. She’s been poisoned boy. And because of that, we, her children, are suffering as well," the old woman quickly explained, not caring if their opponent heard what she said.

"But they look fine?" Laz pointed out the two grand elders from the first family.

"They have already fallen from her grace and protection," one of the old men said, helping the old woman to stand straight again.

"Go. If you can save her, we will be saved. But if she dies... well. I’m sure you can guess what would happen to the rest of us," the old woman said, waving Laz off as she turned to face the two grand elders.

"To think all six of you would come to stop us here. My friends, I have told you before that there is a spot waiting for you beside us... all you have to do is swear loyalty to our family and you can be released from your bonds of slavery..." the grand elder who wasn’t posed to fight said as he casually walked over to them.

"Ha. Swearing loyalty makes you free? What a load of shit. Do you even know what you are saying?"

"Well, I guess we have no choice then. Perhaps when half of you are dead, the other half will be more eager to hear what we have to say?" the second grand elder asked, eyeing his six targets.

"GO BOY. Go to the queen. Mother says only you can save her now... SO GOOO!" The old woman yelled and didn’t stop yelling until Laz had gotten up and started running for the door.

"That boy can save her? You must be dreaming," The first grand elder mocked, having heard everything.

"Whether he can or he can’t, we don’t really care," the old woman said in response.

"Because one way or another, none of us is leaving this fight alive." She threatened and began waving her hands around. The five men clustered in close, forming a circle around her, their weapons held ready.

"I can promise you that."
