Chapter 466: An Interesting Gift

"What?" Laz asked, staring at the looks of contempt from Sylvia, Ivana and Genevieve.

None of them answered him and instead continued to glare as Maia jumped around, apparently happy that Laz was awake.

"No. Seriously... What did I do?" Laz asked, still somewhat in the dark.

"Anyway. Since he is awake, isn’t it time to deal with the current problem?" Ivana asked, breaking the silence.

"Assuming he can even do anything..." Genevieve said in a back handed way.

"You already know what I can do..." Laz mumbled as Genevieve shot to his side.

"Say it again. I dare you," Genevieve threatened, a knife appearing from out of no where.

"Anyway. Since the goddess has said he could, then it must mean he can." Sylvia took a look over at Maia who seemed to be looking for something to wear. The room they had been staying in was Sylvia’s as this was the safest place to bring him after he had collapsed out in the park. Currently Maia was going through Sylvia’s wardrobe and trying the different dresses and outfits she had stored in there. She wasn’t actually trying to wear them as obviously they were way to big. Instead, when she saw something she liked, she would wave her hand and using her energy, she would craft the clothes around herself.

"So what is it that I need to do exactly?" Laz asked, still in the dark. When he had awoken, he had shot upright, throwing Maia from himself only to find he was surrounded by the other three, all of them with strange looks on their faces. Of course he realized he was naked at that point, but for some reason he didn’t think that was the cause of it. After all, two out of the three of them had already seen what weapon he was packing prior to this.

And so without giving him any sort of answers, they instead starting talking about something that he didn’t understand despite it sounding like he would be a part of it.

Maia came back with black leather booty shorts, a leather halter top and fishnet stockings on.

There was also a black mask, black boots and a whip in her hand.

’They have this kind of stuff here too?’ Laz thought, grinning.

"I’m ready," the goddess declared.

"NO"

"NO"

"HELL NO"

The last one was Ivana who’s head seamed to be steaming as she then turned to glare at Sylvia.

"I didn’t think she would find that one, ok?"

"I feel like my faith is crumbling around me..." Ivana said, rubbing the bridge of her nose.

Sylvia and Ivana quickly took Maia over to the clothes to find her something that she could be seen out in public with and Genevieve sat down on the bed next to Laz.

"Ugh... I guess it’s my job to tell you what’s going on..." Genevieve said, accepting her fate. She knew her mother and Ivana had abandoned her at this moment so she would fill Laz in.

As such, she told him about the past events that had been happening for the five days he had been passed out.

"And that’s it. We can’t leave and let them leave as well, but if we stay here, we might all be in serious trouble," Genevieve explained, a look of remorse on her face.

Laz didn’t say anything at first, his mind still thinking of the visions he had seen, visions of war. He knew what it meant that the first families fire was emerald green in color, that they were related to that nameless battle god of the Infernal. While Laz wouldn’t bet money on it, he was pretty sure they weren’t directly related, but even just having access to an Infernal bloodline would mean a horrible thing if they managed to escape.

Laz wasn’t going to let them do that.

"Alright then. I guess I’ve slept long enough. Let’s see what we can do about your pest problem," Laz said, getting out of bed. As he stood up and stretched, he realized he was still naked as the women were all staring at him... or more accurately his rampaging beast that decided it still wanted attention.

"Uh. So. Ah.." Laz said, seeing his clothing and his spatial pouch sitting on a chair next to the bed. Getting himself dressed, Laz turned to look, only to see Genevieve and Maia still waiting in the room for him.

"Here. I don’t see those clothes protecting you in any way so you might as well wear some armor," Genevieve said, pulling out a case from underneath the bed.

When she opened it, Laz was taken back a bit as the armor inside of it was a actually made of metal. What’s more, it wasn’t big and bulky like old fashion types of armor, but slim and sleek. The metallic seemed almost like a fabric as it lay in the unassuming case. Had Laz not had such extraordinary eyesight, he might had even thought it was just a metal silver colored shirt and pants.

Of course the real problem was that the armor was definitely meant for someone way taller than himself.

"I appreciate this... but I don’t think it will fit..." Laz said, touching the cold surface and being shocked at the lack of seems. It felt like it was one solid piece.

"Just put it on already," Genevieve huffed and she stood and made her way to the door, Maia following her.

"Where do I go?" Laz asked.

"Someone will be outside to guide you so just hurry up. My mother and Priestess Ivana have already left to start gathering additional help.

"I’ll see you soon," Maia called out with a wave and wink before she disappeared, not even bothering to use the door.

Genevieve looked to where she had disappeared and shook her head. Meeting with the mother tree, the goddess of her people would normally be something she wouldn’t even consider happening. And yet now she wasn’t even shocked when the avatar of her just came and went as she pleased.

Genevieve had to admit that life had been a lot more exciting ever since these human’s arrived... Or at least Laz.

Laz watched as she closed the door before taking off his clothes and putting on the metal shirt and pants. At first it was way to big, like when a toddler tried to wear their older siblings clothes. But as Laz looked at himself in a mirror to see how funny he looked, he noticed the strange armor glowing with a small light before suddenly shrinking down in size until it rested on him perfectly.

Laz tried smacking himself in the stomach several times, only to find the sensation was like punching a solid metal wall. Even the impact of his strike was hard to feel.

"Amazing," Laz said, looking at the newly adjusted armor in the mirror. As opposed to calling it armor, Laz felt like calling it a second skin would be more accurate.

Laz then strapped his sword ’Sever’ to his waist and even pulled out several of the greyish white sticks which he slid into tiny hoops in the belt. Originally these were meant for daggers, but the sticks would work just the same.

Seeing his long hair in the mirror, Laz briefly thought about cutting it before grabbing a piece of thread and tying it back. Although his hair wasn’t too long, it still came below his shoulders as he hadn’t thought about taking care of it in a while.

Looking at himself in the mirror one last time, Laz felt that he was at least looking ready for a fight.

Walking to the door and opening it, Laz noticed two women, attendants, standing on the other side.

At first he thought they would say something, but instead they just looked at him with stunned faces.

"Lead on," Laz finally said, snapping them out of their shock.

They quickly turned and began leading the way, but not before Laz noticed a tinge of red on their faces.

It didn’t take long for Laz to reach their destination. As the first family, their ancestorial home was located closest to the palace out of any of the other families. While normally there would be a lot of foot traffic of people coming and going along the paved path that lead up to their door, right now the only people in view were armed men and women, the eyes constantly scanning the building that lay just a few hundred feet back from the street. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

The building itself looked like an old English style manor, complete with stone walls, high towers and even a gate that had been barred shut with heavy chains and locks, all of which were pointing inward.

As Laz arrived, he noticed he wasn’t the only human here. Jill was standing around talking to several female warriors who were giving her instructions on different things like how to thrust properly, how to silence a person from behind without allowing them to make a noise and how to hind your own footsteps over different types of terrain.

Laz also noticed that Jill was dressed like the female warriors in what could only be described as metal bikinis.

’Honestly.. those don’t even protect the legs or the abdomen. How is that useful?’ Laz shook his head, wondering why anyone would choose to wear metal underwear. But he then thought of his own clothing and wondered if he had missed something. Looking closer, Laz could finally see what had been hidden before. The exposed areas weren’t actually unprotected as they had a thin layer of something covering them. Focusing his eyesight, Laz could see thousands of tiny rings, almost invisible to the naked eye running over every piece of exposed flesh. The only reason he had missed it at first was because since they were still rings, they would allow the natural skins color to show through even though the area was protected. Not only that, but with the rings being as small as they were, it meant that the bikini armor would pose no hinderance to movement.

Then again, neither did his shirt or pants, but he guessed that not everyone could have such a set of armor as unique as his.

Besides, Jill, there were also the werewolves who had gathered; Troy, Red, Ava and Kels.

Besides them Ruth, David and Shelby were also there, waiting with Elven weapons in hand. While they didn’t have any armor on, they did have heavier hunter’s clothing instead of their normal clothing.

Just as Laz was going to walk up and talk to them, Sylvia and Ivana appeared, causing the gather groups to stand at attention.

There was a silence as Sylvia looked around briefly before opening her mouth.

"Today, we shall punish the traitors who tried to destroy our goddess. Who have mixed our blood with the blood of our enemies just to make themselves stronger. And who have taken many lives, both in the dark and out in the open. Today, we shall drag them from their holes of darkness into the light, so that they may be judged for their crimes. Today, we shall cleanse our people of this ancient evil, ONCE AND FOR ALL!"

With loud cheers and roaring, the attack on the traitors had begun.
