Chapter 464: The Fire Consumes
The three other men looked absolutely horrified when they saw Laz’s gaze. As they had backed up when the black robed protectors appeared, they didn’t suffer any wounds. But still, one would think that someone had killed their parents from the looks on their faces.
Laz closed in and stopped, looking up at the first one. Seeing the man look down at him, even if his face was one of absolute fear, didn’t make Laz feel good. So instead of talking up to him, Laz swung forth and hit the man in his stomach with only enough force to cause him to fall to his knees and vomit. Laz’s quick side step spared his shoes from the splatter.
"I don’t like looking up at idiots," Laz said, looking at the other two.
They dropped to their own knees without needing his help.
"Hey. Those four?" Laz said to Ivana before motioning to the four protectors who seemed to want to flee but at the same time didn’t want to flee.
"They are De’von’s personal guards. Since you almost killed him and they couldn’t stop you, their lives are forfeit to the family now. If they return, they will be killed. If they run, they will be killed. And since there isn’t anywhere for them to go, they will be most likely be found and killed," Ivana said, snacking on one of the candy sticks she had bought for herself while handing Maia another one.
"Got it. Well, none of my concern," Laz said before turning back to the three kneeling men.
"I want to know about the green flame on that bastard. Who wants to tell me and who wants to loose a few pounds of flesh? First come first serve," Laz asked, cracking his fists for effect.
Just as they were about to speak, some guards ending up rushing into the park and surrounding Laz and the three kneeling men.
"Back away slowly human or we will have to take you down by force. As the law for public interaction with humans states, ’you will not be permitted to lay a hand on or look at in any sort of way other than respect, one of the great and noble of the Fae lineage.’ As you have done both, we had no choice but to arrest you on the spot," the lead guard said, his face a mixture of both anger and fear.
While they had been rushing over here after getting the call that a fight broke out between a black haired son of the first family and a visiting human, the leader of the squadron had been made aware that the human had beaten the child almost to death and his strength wasn’t to be underestimated.
Laz didn’t respond back but instead looked at Ivana.
"Oh come on. There is only six of them. Can’t you just... I don’t know, lightly knock them out?" Ivana said, looking reluctant to have to put down her candy and join the show.
"You can’t just lightly knock someone out. It’s either all or nothing. I could make them all thrown up on themselves, but that seems a bit harsh considering they are just doing their jobs," Laz shot back, shaking his head as though he was rejecting ideas on how he should handle the situation.
"FINE. Fine. Alright, you’re right. This one is on me. Oh boys... would one of you please come over here?" Ivana called out to the guard captain.
"Mam. I am sorry but I do not have time for whatever foreplay you wish to indulge in. I am currently in the middle of working and although I know it’s rather manly of me, you should restrain yourself for the moment. After I take care of this small pest though I will be perfectly happy to play the guard captain saves the damsel in distress’ and get your thanks for a job well done," the guard captain said, eyes not leaving Laz.
’He didn’t even blink. Is that a thing the women of this place enjoy doing?’ Laz thought as he noticed a few faces in the crowd turning red and looking away as though bashful.
"HE ISN’T FUCKING KIDDING..." Laz said out loud in surprise.
Ivana wasn’t amused though and waving a hand, she suddenly let out a burst of energy that wrapped around the guard captain and dragged him over to her.
"Insistent, aren’t you? Well I guess I have time for a quickie before we take this human in," the guard captain said with a sigh and started undoing his pants despite being stared at by everyone.
Maia couldn’t stop laughing.
Ivana swung her arm out and slapped the man before he could undo his pants.
"IS THIS SERIOUSLY WHAT YOU DO HERE ALL DAY?" Ivana screamed before taking deep breaths to calm herself.
"HERE!" Ivana said, shoving something at the guard captain who looked offended that someone didn’t want to take a ride on his spear for a change.
Seeing the identification badge though, the guard captain’s face went a pale shade of off white as his hand trembled.
"Miss... I... Uh.,.."
"I don’t care and I don’t want to hear it. Lock this area down after getting these people out of here and whatever this young man tells you to do, do it. Got it?" Ivana asked, her voice welcoming no argument.
"YES MAM!" The guard captain ran as if his ass was on fire and with the help of his squad, quickly cleared out the area, leaving Laz alone with the three trembling men, Ivana and Maia.
"Alright. Now..."
"We... We can’t tell you anything." The trembling man said. His hopes had been raised at seeing the guards, but after they had been sent away along with everyone else, he knew that he was screwed. Even then, as a member of the first family, he knew his duty. Even if he had to die, he wasn’t allowed to say anything about anything. For a member of a branch family, that wasn’t normally a problem as they wouldn’t know anything. But having followed along with the young master for many years now, things he wouldn’t have dreamed of had been made known to him.
"Right. A tough guy. Loyal to his family even when he might die. I respect that. I really do," Laz said, squatting down in front of him so that they were looking at each other eye to eye.
"Re.. really?" The man said, seeming to relax a little at this statement.
"Of course. So I won’t make it difficult on you at all. Ok? How about instead of me torturing you to within an inch of your life, we instead play a little game. How about that? That sound good?"
"Uh. Well. Sssure. That... sounds good."
"Excellent. Alright then. The name of this game is ’questions are hard but answers are harder...’ Got it?"
"That doesn’t sound..."
"Ok. So I’m going to ask you a question and you’re going to answer. Now these questions will be hard for me to ask, but they will be even harder for you to answer. And if either one of us fails in their part of it," Laz took a white stick out from his pouch. This particular stick was one that he had gotten from the grey world with all of the monster beasts he had visited a long time ago, the one in which he had left Tyr. While the sticks were hard enough to be used as weapons, the real magic of them happened when someone was stabbed with it.
"They will get poked with this stick."
To make the results known, Laz poked one of the other two with the stick in his leg. For just the briefest moment, while the stick had puncture the man’s skin, he started screaming. Energy erupted out from the end of the stick as the man’s leg started withering right in front of everyone’s eyes.
Laz pulled the stick out before it could drain all of the man’s energy and take his life, but turned to look at his new game companion with a smile.
"THIS... YOU...."
"Alright. First question. Were you the one’s who set the Infernal beetles on to the mother tree in an attempt to kill her?" Laz said, getting straight to the point.
Holding up the stick to show he wanted an answer, Laz looked at the man as he stumbled for words.
"I.. WE..."
For a brief moment, it looked like the man would speak when suddenly, the man’s face contorted as his entire body shook. Looking at Laz’s face like he wanted to scream something, the man stiffened, like he had be frozen solid.
Without any warning, green fire, the same green fire De’von produced, exploded out from the man’s stomach before engulfing him completely.
Laz jumped back to avoid whatever messy explosion was going to take place, but the fire kept burning as the man’s soundless screams were reflected in his face.
The other two looking on fainted from the scene in front of them as Laz watched him burn, his eyes fixed on the green flames as though he was looking for a secret contained within it.
’It’s right there... right there... so close... why do I... where have I seen green flames like this before...?’
Ivana’s mouth was slack at the scene while Maia frowned, the candy stick to the side forgotten.
With the three of them looking on, the other two caught on fire as well, their pain filled screams stuck in their mouths.
There was no release from the pain of these emerald flames.
