Chapter 430: First Blood

Jill was shaking as she huddled up in her seat, the cool, busted leather pressed against the skin on the back of her neck, sending a chill down her spine.

’Where did he go? Why did he leave me alone? I can’t do this. I can’t do this again. I don’t want to go back. I don’t want to go into the dark again. I don’t. I don’t. I don’t. I don’t. I don’t. I don’t. I don’t. I don’t. I don’t....’

The thoughts in Jill’s head raced as the two men approached the van. The heavy set police officer came to the window and tapped on it.

"Open up. It’s alright. We were following a lead and we need to ask you about the man you were with," came the way too sweet sounding voice from the man. He acted like he was talking to a small child or a frightened animal.

But Jill knew better. She could read him, the look in his eyes, the saliva almost dripping from his mouth. It didn’t look like the face of a man, twisted as it was. Instead, it was like some massive pig creature was standing there looking down on her, greedily eyeing it’s next meal.

Seeing that Jill wasn’t opening the door, the man tried the handle and found it to be locked.

"Please open up miss. It’s alright. We suspect the man has kidnapped you. We are here to help you, but you have to open the door," the heavy set cop said while knocking on the window.

Just as he did that, the thinner cop from the other car came over to the driver’s side and tried that door.

It was unlocked.

He opened it and waved over the heavy set man.

Looking at the skinny man, Jill saw a weaselly nose, patchy mustache and clumps of acne. As soon as the door was opened, he smiled as though to reassure her, but his yellow teeth just resembled the maw of a beast, licking it’s lips.

*What will you do?* Came Laz’s voice into Jill’s head.

"I don’t know. I don’t know!!!" She almost screamed back, startling the two officers.

"You don’t know where that man is? Are you sure you’re not his partner in this? Perhaps we need to take you down to the station as well. Not only can we get you some help, but we also have some questions that you can help us with? How does that sound?" The heavy set, pig like officer shoved the weaselly one out of the way to get her attention.

*If you go with them, you will never see the inside of that police station.*

"I know that. Please... please... help me...." Jill said to Laz’s voice.

"Of course we are here to help you. Come with us and everything will be ok," the heavy set man said, reaching a hand to her.

Seeing his gross hand get near, Jill screamed and started unlocking her door before throwing it open and running.

"FUCK!" The heavy set man swore and lunged for her, only to miss the back of her zip-up.

Jill started running, wanting to get away from the back of the building and out to a main road where she could signal for help. As she ran, Laz’s voice stayed with her.

*This isn’t going to work the way you think it will...*

"SHUT UP. IF YOU WON’T HELP ME THAN JUST SHUT UP," Jill yelled back as she ran, her new shoes making quick work of the pavement.

Just as she got to the other side of the building, the skinny office caught up to her and grabbed her from behind while she started yelling for help.

"PLEASE! SOMEONE! ANYONE! HELP ME!!!" She yelled out, but to no avail. While there were other guests at the motel today, the ones who did see her simply noticed the police officer and turned their heads. Those with a little more spine started walking over but the heavy set officer arrived, panting wildly.

"It’s ok folks. We got a call about someone’s missing daughter and tracked her here. She isn’t right in the head and somehow slipped away from the home she was staying at." The heavy set man explained to the onlookers.

*Such lies come easy for someone like him. I wonder just how many people have been screwed over because of them? I wonder just how much suffering they’ve endured... simply because he hides behind a badge...*

"PLEASE STOP TALKING AND HELP ME...." Jill’s cries got louder as she heard Laz’s voice.

"As you all can see, we are doing this for her own good. Thanks for your concern," the heavy set officer finished and began dragging Jill back behind the building.

"Get her hands behind her back and put some cuffs on her," he instructed.

"I’ve fucking tried but this girl has an iron grip. I can’t get her arms apart," the skinny one blurted out while trying to keep a hold on her.

"You weak piece of shit. You’re going to have to wait your goddamned turn then since you’re making me do all the fucking work, you got that?"

"Fuck you. The last time you made me wait, everything was all fucking bloody and I had to clean it up first. You think I like doing that shit?" the skinny man argued back.

Hearing this, Jill almost wet herself as her body shook.

She knew what they were talking about.

She would rather die.

*Is this your choice?* Laz’s voice rang out, as soft as ever. Never once did he change the pitch. Never once did he call her weak. Never once did he offer to save her even though she asked.

"How can I save myself...?" The words were almost a whisper, a plea to the void.

But today, the void would answer back.

*You are smaller than them. One day, you will be stronger, but not today. Instead, fight with what you have. Move with him, quickly, and twist to break his lock on your arms.*

Jill did as Laz instructed, moving her body backwards into the skinny man until he lost his grip and then twisted fiercely, breaking his grip on her. She rolled away and stood up, her eyes flashing with surprise.

"You waste of space," the heavyset officer said, pulling out his taser. It was obvious that he was done playing nice.

*It can only fire straight ahead. You’re perception is your weapon. Once he start’s pulling the trigger, move to the side.*

As soon as Jill noticed the the man’s finger twitch on the trigger, she moved one quick step to the side. The darts harmlessly shot past her before landing on the ground, their inertia spent. With this, a feeling arose within Jill, something she couldn’t quite explain or grab on to. But it was right there... so very close....

The skinny one wanted to say something, but the words were caught in his throat. He never would have expected the girl who was crying and screaming just moments ago to suddenly move so precisely.

"Just knock her out the old fashioned way and bring her to the car," The heavyset man said and walked forward while the skinny one followed him.

*Are they scary?* Laz’s voice asked as Jill watch the men approach.

"Yes," She replied, her eyes never leaving them.

*That stake in your hand is harder than steal and sharped than obsidian. It will be your first weapon. Can you kill them?*

Jill took a deep breath as she caught hold of the thing within her, causing her blood to circulate faster than ever before. A very light glow radiated from her, invisible in the cloudy daylight but there none the less.

"Yes."

A low hum came from the van as a song began to play...

"What the fuck is that?" The heavy set man said, looking over at the empty van.

"Maybe a short in it somewhere?" The skinny man replied.

’As a child you would wait And watch from far away

But you always knew that you’d be the one

That work while they all play

In youth you’d lay Awake at night and scheme

Of all the things that you would change But it was just a dream!

Here we are, don’t turn away now, We are the warriors that built this town Here we are, don’t turn away now We are the warriors that built this town

From dust.

Here we are, don’t turn away now,

We are the warriors that built this town

We are the warriors that built this town From dust.

Jill ran forward towards the heavyset man who reached out to grab her, but she jumped, propelling off his knee and landing her skinny knee right into his jaw, sending his head flying back.

Jill then flipped backwards and landed before charging the thin man who swung at her.

Jill ducked under it and stabbed forward, the stake landing in the thin man’s chest, cutting into him like he was made of air.

With the stake lodged into the man’s chest, his eyes went wide as Jill stood up, the top of her head barely coming to the top of his chest. Just when she thought about pulling it out and jamming it into his eye, a sudden burst of energy inside of her surged into the stake and into the man, causing his skin to turn grey from the wound outward.

Surprised and startled, Jill pulled the stake out and with it, a burst of green lights appeared in the air before zooming towards the stake and entering into Jill’s body.

It felt like she was on fire.

Turning over to the heavy set man, Jill’s eyes became as black as night as a small purple iris appeared in them, glowing with a faint light.

The pig like cop decided that it wasn’t worth it anymore and ran while pulling his gun.

He didn’t get more than two steps before a solid hand reached out of nowhere and grabbed the big man by his neck, lifting him into the air. The cop squirmed and thrashed around, but Laz’s grip was like lead; solid and unyielding, as he walked the man back to Jill and threw him onto the ground.

"Please... I have a family... please... I don’t want to die..."

"I see it," JIll’s voice was like a hiss as she spoke, her black and purple eyes reading the evil of his aura. It was sheer filth that spoke of a lifetime of deranged pleasures and immeasurable cruelty.

"You... see...what?" The man’s voice said as he could barely get out the words.

"You’re damnation..." Jill spat and hissed as she jumped forward, her feet landing on his stomach while she plunged the stake into his eye.

Once again, his body drained of color as the energy spilled out of him before being dragged into the stake and then into Jill.

As the song reached it’s climax, Jill yelled out in rage.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
