Chapter 2207: Echoes of the Ocean Legends (Part 2): Singing Rakshasa
......
Just like what Felix was expecting, the forces that Leviathan had stationed in the Glacial Cave were already guarding the entrance at full force.
He could also observe that they were currently forming a battle formation that could immediately adjust into an unescapable entrapment once they stepped into it.
Unfortunately for Felix, there was only a single entrance leading to the Glacial Cave map.
The Glacial Cave was called as such, not because it was truly a cave. Instead, it was a special map where the players needed to pass through a long cave channel through a thick and massive wall that encircled the entire map.
In a sense, it was similar to the massive divine wall that used to isolate the entire Frozen Kingdom from the rest of the world, but in a much smaller range.
This massive stone wall seemed to have a similar function as that divine wall of ice, aside from its sealing function.
Moreover, the region behind this wall lacked any kind of monsters. Aside from being a decent tourist spot due to its beautiful and stunning scenery, created by the strange mixture of trees and glaciers filling the entire place.
The mana density of the map was also not that high, making it not suitable for training skills and techniques.
If not for the Empire Quest that Felix and Filicia had gotten, then they would have never visited this place as well.
"It is going to be tricky to bypass these guys," commented Felix after observing the formation that the opposing side had for quite some time.
"So, we have no choice but to forcefully break through them?" asked Felicia beside him, who seemed to be doing the same and had come up with the same conclusion as him.
"We will not have that much time at our hands, so I need you to go all-out this time," said Felix while turning to Felicia.
Felicia gave him a deep look for quite a while before sighing. "I guess I do not have a choice. I do not want to use my swordsmanship here inside the game, but the circumstances surely do not let me do what I want, huh?"
Felix shrugged his shoulders, understanding how she felt. He was also thinking the same since the elders of their sect had told them to keep a low profile as much as possible, growing their strength in silence while avoiding the unnecessary gazes from hostile parties.
After all, the swordsmanship of the Divine Sound Sect was extremely unique and quite easy to recognize.
Even though they had a lot of variety in their sword techniques, the unique features of their sect were still present everywhere, which was the combination of swordsmanship and sound arts.
Felix’s swordsmanship was the perfect example of this.
Felicia’s swordsmanship had yet to be revealed during their previous battle against Leviathan, which was why the latter had no idea how powerful it was.
All Leviathan had seen during that battle was Felicia’s ’singing’ skills, which were further augmented by her Epic Ocean Race, the Siren Race.
Moreover, her spells showed that she was from a magic class, a fact further supported by her equipment and weapons.
It was not surprising to consider her a mage or other caster class with all these clues that she had presented.
Shing!
Felicia had taken out a sword from her inventory, which had a wavy blade. It was a meter and a half long, looking quite heavy with its thick blade.
It was an ancient Kris, which was a type of heavy sword during ancient times!
She twirled the sword a couple of times with ease, seemingly showcasing the strength hidden behind her frail body.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
She did this a couple of times. First with one hand before shifting between both of her hands.
She did this to familiarize herself with this feeling that she had never felt for quite a while, especially within the game.
After a while, she turned to Felix and said. "Since we are doing this, let me take the lead."
"I will be the vanguard while you take on the role of support this time," she added before jumping down from the tree they were standing on and charging straight to their enemies.
She did not even wait for Felix to respond, making him sigh helplessly.
"It seems like the Singing Rakshasa of the Divine Sound Sect will make her presence known in the game," he mumbled before chasing after her.
Swoosh!
...
The elite members of the sweeper teams that Leviathan had brought for this operation were currently gathered at the entrance of the Glacial Cave, waiting for the so-called guests who were coming.
They were currently hiding and lying in wait to launch an ambush.
Ha~! La~! La~!
While they were preparing for the ambush, they suddenly heard a holy and charming voice.
This had caught them off guard, especially when the voice had an extremely tempting tone.
Some of them felt their eyelids dropping, seemingly about to fall asleep. The voice felt like a lullaby that was pulling them into the land of dreams.
On the other hand, the others, who had stronger willpower, found themselves fighting against the urge to fall asleep.
They wanted to warn the others about it while also asking those with support class to cast dispel on the others.
Unfortunately, they found that even dispel or cleansing spells were useless against this voice because what they were feeling was neither a debuff nor any negative alignment.
It was more of a mental attack rather than a debuff spell within the game.
When they had realized this, those with support class shifted to using spells that boosted their willpower and mental defenses.
Unfortunately, it was already too late at that time since most of their people had already been pulled into deep slumber, leaving themselves defenseless.
Swoosh!
Shing! Shing! Shing!
Not long after, they saw the heads of their colleagues flying and rolling in the air.
Thud! Thud!
The sounds that these severed heads made when they fell on the ground created a series of rhythmic beats that resonated along with the singing voice.
This scene continued for quite a while, making the minds of those who saw it go blank.
They all stared blankly at the scene, only waking themselves when the thick scent of demonic blood filled the air.
It was also at this moment that they had been wide awake!
Their eyes were immediately filled with rage after processing what was going on. They immediately went crazy while looking for the person responsible for this attack.
Little did they know that this was another effect of the voice ringing in the entire place.
It was also at this moment that the tone of the voice suddenly changed, along with the song that it was singing.
Dan! Da Da Dan~! Da Da Dan~!
It was a fast and energetic voice that was seemingly carrying the echoes of war – fierce, violent, and filled with slaughter.
Along with the sudden change of song, the demonic players who had been affected by the song immediately lost their minds.
Their already crimson eyes turned even more bloodshot, becoming even more evil and sinister.
The effects of this song seemed to be more effective against demonic players due to the nature of their race. The song and their demon race seemed to resonate with each other, highlighting the race’s innate nature.
When they had swept their gaze in the surroundings, looking for the sign of their attacker, everyone else around them seemed to have morphed into the person they hated the most.
Some of them, who had a slightly stronger willpower, were still fighting against this mental attack. Unfortunately, the multiple factors that were affecting them had stacked together, resulting in the current situation.
They were unable to break free from their current state, making them vulnerable to the incoming attacks.
Shing! Shing! Shing!
A crimson light cut through the air, slicing through everything that it came in contact with, especially the necks of every demonic player on its path.
Swoosh!
Every demonic player blocking its path was either sliced in half or beheaded once this crimson light passed through their bodies.
They were unable to do anything about it since their minds had already been affected by the singing voice filling the entire place.
Those with stronger minds were still able to hold themselves for quite a while, but they could not fight against this crimson light dancing in the air and taking their lives one after another.
All they could do was watch the others fall one by one while also waiting for their turn.
Swoosh!
Felix, who was originally planning to lend a hand, stopped himself from doing anything else and watched his twin sister handle everything.
"She is asking me to be her support, but here she is reaping their lives without restraint. How am I going to assist her with such a demonic harvest?" he mumbled, shaking his head, seemingly recalling how the people from their sect treated her.
"She truly lives up to her reputation as the Singing Rakshasa," he added along with a deep and bitter sigh.
