Chapter 60: Enchanting
Is this guy the same Night that told me not to garner attention? "Are you okay?" I couldn’t help but ask him that. "Don’t you hate me? Are you doing this to make me suffer?" I’m scared he’s being good to me because he’ll be extra mean to me as soon as we get married.
"Why? Do you prefer the cold and snob type?"
I gaped. I didn’t expect Night to say something like this, nor smile like this. "Stop playing with me. It’s not going to work." After saying that, Night suddenly pulled me closer to him until our faces were only inches away. Everyone’s looking at us, and I can’t move because he grabs my waist.
"Everyone’s looking at us. You said not to garner attention." I frowned. This isn’t like him. What happened to this cold and petty jerk? Is he really going to play with me?
"I changed my mind." Huh?! "I’ll do whatever I want."
Due to annoyance, I stepped on his foot purposively, but he chuckled, causing my eyes to open wide. "W-W-What is wrong with you?" If it’s the normal him, he’ll scowl at me and glare with those deadly eyes.
"That didn’t hurt."
I gaped again. "Who are you, and what did you do to the real Night?" The music made me unable to hear what he said next, but he was smiling at me. It was weird, and I didn’t know what to say. I stared at his face until the music stopped, and he moved away from me.
’What was that? Am I dreaming? Am I still in that hole? Did I lose consciousness due to the impact?’ I started slapping my face to wake myself up from this nightmare.
"Hey!" But Andy grabbed my hand and stopped me from slapping my face. "What? You can’t believe that the Night Fuentes you’ve been obsessing over danced with you?" He chuckled, which made me pinch his cheeks instead.
"Ow! Ow!"
What? "I’m not dreaming?"
Andy removed my hands from his cheeks. "You’re not! And it hurts." He said. I’m really not dreaming. Then why was Night acting like that? "Oh? Looks like Kaoru’s here to ask you for a dance too." Kaoru stood beside me, but it wasn’t because he asked me to dance. ’It’s probably because he’s keeping his eyes on me.’
"I-I’m done dancing now."
Andy snickered. "Bet you are. You already danced with your crush, after all." I ignored him and walked towards the seat away from the fire in the middle. That was exhausting, and their attention was all on me. ’What do they want?’
Girls rushed towards Night and started asking him to dance with them. Hmm, how will he handle that? It’s amusing to see him struggling, so I guess I’ll be watching him for a while. However, it didn’t end like I expected it to. Night rejected everyone and ignored them without even batting an eye. He left and entered their building.
The girls that asked him all looked at me with a piercing gaze. ’What? Is it my fault that they got rejected?’ I ignored them as I walked toward Maris. I want to go to where Ace is since I really want to be comforted by her. Ace’s voice has this special soothing effect on me. "Sure, I’ll just wait for Carla, and we’ll go back to our room too." That’s what Maris said after I told her that I’ll go to Ace’s room first.
"Let’s go," I told Kaoru, and he followed me inside the building. Although he won’t be coming with me inside the room since that’s not allowed. "Just wait for me somewhere, or have some fun if you want."
Kaoru shook his head. "I’ll be waiting for the lady here outside."
I nodded. "Okay, suit yourself." I knocked on the door, and after hearing Ace’s voice, I came in. "Hi, what are you doing?"
Ace’s lying on her bed while looking at her phone. "I’m watching the video Andy sent to our group chat." She showed me her phone, and my eyes widened. "Did you enjoy your dance with your prince?" A cheeky smile formed on her face while I rushed to get her phone, but she moved it away.
I covered my face. "It was so embarrassing!"
Ace patted my head. "You did great. You’re really awesome." She complimented me, making me hug her due to embarrassment. It’s rare for Ace to compliment me like that when it comes to Night. "I never expected that he’ll accept you. That’s great."
I immediately moved away with eyes wide open. "S-So you already thought that he’ll reject me?"
Ace shrugged. "He kept ignoring you before, so I thought he’ll ignore you again."
WHAT?
"T-Then why did you—"I grunted as I rolled on her bed. I want to disappear. Now every girl in Night’s class will hate me with all their might. "I want to go back and undid what I did."
"Too late."
After that, Ace and I talked about random things. I asked her about her part-time job and if her parents were doing well. "It’s been so long since I last saw your parents." I can’t visit since Kenji or Kaoru must accompany me. That will look weird.
"They’re doing great. You don’t have to worry." She said while caressing my hair. We’re both lying on her bed, and I am already comforted by her hand. "What about you? I know nothing about what happens in your every day." Ace said, making me gulp.
"I-I’m doing fine. Kaoru’s family is treating me well." Right, I almost forgot that I lied about being adopted into Kaoru’s family.
"What about that other guy? The blonde guy. Who is he?"
Is she talking about El? "He’s a friend I met before. He helped me when I injured my foot." That’s the only way I can answer Ace’s question.
"Is that so?" I’m glad that she’s not asking much about me. Even though I still wanted to talk with her, her groupmates entered the room, and I felt awkward. "I-I’ll leave now." I rushed out of the room, and Kaoru was still waiting outside.
I rushed towards my room and when I arrived Carla and Maris were already there. Carla’s just sitting on her bed while staring at nothing. ’Did she fail? What happened?’ "Are you okay?" I asked as I walked towards my bed.
Maris shook her head as if telling me not to ask. "I’m not okay," Carla said with her head down. ’Oh no. Did she get rejected? Did she confess?’ Before I could even try to think what was going on, Carla screamed, which made Maris cover her mouth.
"W-What is going on?" I asked.
Maris shook her head while trying to calm Carla down. D-Did something more hurtful happen? That’s why Carla’s screaming? "Ryzen accepted her offer to dance," Maris said as she rolled her eyes and forced Carla to shut up. "Now she’s squealing like a pig because of how wonderful it was. It’s actually too cringe for me to say." She added.
"H-Huh?" So it’s not because Carla’s hurt?
Carla took a deep breath. "It’s all thanks to you, Noelle! If you didn’t give me the courage, I wouldn’t be able to ask Ryzen to dance with me." She said with a wide smile on her face. I’m glad that what I did was all worth it. "Although he told me he didn’t want to be in a relationship, that’s fine! I like our relationship now." Carla continued squealing and talking about how great of a man Ryzen is while Maris’s covered her ears with both of her pillows.
It’s fun hearing Carla talk about how she enjoyed the night until... "What about you, Noelle? Did you enjoy dancing with Night? I was astonished when Night accepted only you. It’s like a scene from a fairy tale book!" She squealed.
"Indeed. I never expected that snob and cold prince to accept anyone’s offer to dance." Even Maris agreed. "Sure. It was a scene that came out of a fairy tale." They continued talking about it, and it got embarrassing the longer they mention how enchanting it was. ’For me, it wasn’t enchanting at all. I know that Night’s putting up a show. He’s just using me.’
The school trip ended, and everyone talked about how fun it was. While I’m here still thinking about why Night kissed me. Is it normal for him to do that just to anyone? Didn’t he kiss Tomoe too?
Speaking of Tomoe, the bridal lessons continued as soon as I arrived back in the mansion. "As for today, lady Noelle must learn the most crucial lesson to become a good wife to the next boss." Tomoe said making me gulp. ’The most crucial. It means it’s the most important, right? I really need to focus.’ I thought.
"W-What is it?"
Tomoe looked straight into my eyes. "It is to satisfy the young master with his sexual needs."
"What?" Did I hear that right?
