Chapter 57: Do You Hate Me That Much?
I heard Francesca screaming, and I immediately grabbed her hand, causing me to lose balance and drop the flashlight. I quickly knelt on the ground to stop myself from falling. "Did you just push me, you bitch!" She screamed at my face while I was holding onto her hand, trying to not let her fall off the cliff. ’What was I thinking? Why did I push her like that!’
"I’m going to tell this to the teachers! I won’t let this go." She kept screaming, making my ears hurt.
"If you keep screaming like that, I’ll let you fall."
Francesca clicked her tongue. "Just pull me up already!" She screamed again.
"I’m already trying! You’re too heavy!" I screamed back as I grunted while pulling her up. I took a deep breath as I used my strength. I felt how my ankle created a sound that made me cry due to pain. "A-Almost there." Francesca pulled me as soon as I said that, causing me to fall while she got back up on the higher ground.
I felt my body fall to the ground and groaned due to pain. "Francesca?" I called for her name while coughing due to the dust in my mouth. "Y-You’re not going to leave me here, aren’t you?" But there was no response.
I CAN’T BELIEVE IT.
I got up from the floor while rubbing off the dust from my clothes. "Now what?" I keep calming myself by breathing in and out. ’I’m done controlling this anger. I’m going to kick Francesca in her face. So what if that’s not elegant? I’m no longer elegant as soon as I felt this anger surging inside.’ I thought while still trying to calm down.
It’s because I won’t be able to think of a way to climb up if I’m not calm. The only good thing about this cliff is that it isn’t that high, and I can probably find a way to climb it. But the bad thing is, it’s too steep.
This situation is precisely like those in dramas where the protagonist is being bullied. Then she’ll receive help from someone. But I’m done waiting for people to help me, if I can’t help myself, how will I help others?
I roamed my vision. I’m glad the moon’s shining brightly, and I can still see everything. "Now what?" I’m unsure how to climb, and I know I shouldn’t be careless since I already got an injured ankle and bruised knees.
I dragged my feet towards the cliff’s edge while searching for some vines to climb. I’ll be thankful if I can get out of this place alone, but I’ll also appreciate it if someone helps me. "That girl didn’t come back for me," I said. Francesca’s indeed an evil person. I won’t be kind to her anymore, no. Not that I was being kind to her, I just didn’t care about her.
I won’t tolerate this anymore.
But being angry at this moment won’t help me. ’I must come back and pull Francesca’s hair until she apologizes to me.’ I thought as a motivation to climb. Although I know, I won’t do that because as soon as I get out of this, the happiness will surpass my anger.
"I’m going to make her regret leaving me here," I said as I pulled the vines I saw from the tree above. "I’m going to make her regret it," I repeated until I felt a blinding light on my face causing my eyes to close. ’What the—’
"What are you doing?"
I opened my left eye and saw a person standing on the cliff. "Please stop pointing your flashlight to my face," I told the person, and that’s what that person did. When I opened both eyes, my forehead creased after seeing Night.
’What is this? Will he laugh at me, or will he make me suffer more?’ "What do you want?" I rolled my eyes as I pulled the vine and tried to climb, but the vine got cut off because of my weight, and I fell back to the floor, making me grunt due to frustration.
"Come on!" I shouted due to annoyance. "Why am I so unlucky," I complained while lying on my back and staring at the sky. Maybe I’ll just stay here. I don’t want to participate in the remaining activities anyway, and it’s peaceful here, so I’ll just act like I lost consciousness and go to sleep.
"Why are you still lying there?" I heard Night asking me that, but I ignored him. Can’t he see that I mind my own business right here? "Get up." He ordered me again, but I didn’t open my eyes and stayed lying on the floor. That’s when I heard a loud impact which caused me to immediately get up.
"What is wrong with you?"
Night jumped to where I was, and he did it effortlessly. "Let’s go back."
I raised an eyebrow. "No, thank you."
"Hurry." He said, completely ignoring what I told him.
Why are these people treating me like a total pushover? "Stop telling me what to do. I said I don’t want to, didn’t I?"
"You’re not the one going to receive scolding if you keep having that bruised knee." He said as he rolled his eyes at me. "Stop acting like a child and get up." Night kneeled and showed me his back. "Get on." He’s always ordering me, and I can’t take it anymore.
"So? Why should I care about you being scolded?"
I flinched after Night looked at me with those dead eyes. ’S-So what? Does he think I’ll get scared by his glare?’ I acted like I wasn’t affected by that, but Night suddenly pulled my arm and pulled me closer to him. "Just do what I tell you to do." He said.
I scoffed. "I really can’t believe you." I slapped his hand away. "I’m not your doll."
Before he could even say something, my phone started ringing. Right! I forgot that I brought my phone! I’m so glad it didn’t break when I landed on my back. I squinted as I read the caller ID, and it was El. I answered it anyway since I was curious about what he had to say. "Hello?"
"Hey, are you busy right now? I’m sorry that I keep on disturbing your school trip." He said, and I immediately moved my phone away from my ear as soon as I realized I was on the loudspeaker. "Ellie? Are you there?"
"Yes, I’m here. I’m not busy at all." I said as I moved away from Night. "What is it you want?"
El cleared his throat. "Oh, I just want to ask if you want to go to the aquarium with me next week. I have free tickets." He said.
"Really? Sure—" I felt someone grabbing my phone away from me. "What the—"
"Ellie? What’s going on?"
"Stop calling her Ellie." Night said to El. "This is her fiancée." He said as he ended the call without waiting for what El might say.
Oh my god, I’m so done with this guy. "I know you don’t want me to be happy because you’re not happy, but can you stop meddling in my business?! It’s honestly pissing me off." There, I finally said it. It’s the first time I lashed out like this to someone. ’Now I feel guilty even though it was his fault completely.’
"What? Are you going on a date with another guy?"
My forehead creased. "It’s not a date."
"Really? That man’s thoughts of it beg to differ." He rolled his eyes again. Why is he so sassy when it comes to me?! "You’re accepting a call from another man in front of your fiancée. Such insolence." What did he just say?!
"Insolence? Wow, I can’t believe you. Just because I’m your fake fiancée doesn’t mean I can’t be friends with other guys." I stood up from sitting on the ground. "Do you hate me that much?"
Night didn’t say anything as he pulled my arm. "Stop talking and just get up there." He said, talking about the cliff.
"What do you not understand about me not wanting to return there? Are you dumb?"
He immediately turned to me after I called him dumb. I gulped as I backed away. "I-I didn’t mean to say that." It’s still scary whenever he stares at me with those cold and deadly eyes. As if he’s going to devour me, I can’t look away. "I-It’s your fault for ordering me around. I’m not even your servant." I said as I tried to back away, but I couldn’t get out of his grip.
"I-I don’t even understand why you’re getting mad at me. It’s not like I’ll fall for anyone who’s just kind towards me." I don’t know what I’m talking about, but I’m scared that he’ll continue to look at me with those eyes if I stop talking. "J-Just leave me alone already. I’m not even disturbing you anymore, so why can’t you just go and mind your own busi—"
He cut me off by pulling my waist with his other hand, and... our lips touched. "—ness." I said as he moved away from me.
D-D-D-D-DID HE JUST K-K-KISSES ME?!!
