Chapter 156: Infiltration
We proceeded with the plan as soon as some trusted Yamaguchi-gumi members arrived. Kenji couldn’t do anything about how I wanted to save Night, so he just told me that I should keep Kaoru by my side at all times.
’It’s supposed to be a sneak attack though.’ I thought even though I didn’t retort anymore since he might make me stay if I say something more.
We rode in a black car with Aziel driving it. I didn’t know he can drive a car too, I thought he can only drive motorcycles. "Don’t be too amazed by me, Noelle. You’ll end up hurting Night." Aziel said making me roll my eyes while Kaoru glared at him.
The whole car ride was silent, except for Aziel who keeps talking nonsense, but Kaoru and I just ignored him. We’re not required to talk to him anyway. ’I just want to hurry up and save Night.’
When we arrived near the mansion that was supposed to be Junichiro’s hideout, I heard Aziel cursing which made my forehead crease.
"What? Is there something wrong?" I asked.
Aziel chuckled. "Nah, I just saw someone that I shouldn’t be seeing here right now." He continued chuckling. "That idiot of a father. I thought he was going to hide forever, but I guess I could finally give him to them this way." I heard him muttering.
’Father? His father?’
Aziel removed his seatbelt. "This is where we’ll part. I have something else to do." He said as he opened the car door. "You guys can handle it, right? This guy with you is capable, isn’t he?" He pointed to Kaoru, which is why Kaoru smacked Aziel’s hand away.
"I am more than capable," Kaoru said proudly, making me smile. "Let’s go, milady." He said.
Kenji already hacked the mansion’s security system so we can sneak in easily, although we must be careful since there are guards around.
"Be careful. Junichiro’s a real pain in the ass since he’s a weakling who relies on other people’s strength." Aziel reminded us and waved us goodbye.
We took separate paths. The one Kaoru and I took was towards the inside of the mansion, while the one Aziel took was— I don’t really know and I don’t care.
Kaoru and I sneaked into the back gate where there are fewer guards which is quite weird. ’They should be guarding the backdoor more because if there’ll be an intruder, they won’t show up in their front door.’ I thought as we sneaked in.
I’m just glad that they must be underestimating us. Aziel said that Junichiro must be thinking that the Yamaguchi-gumi was still having trouble with the gang war in Kyoto. I hope they’re all doing fine there. Mizuki and Taka are there after all, and they’re still children.
I tiptoed while holding Kaoru’s hand. Since we’re both unfamiliar with the structure of the mansion and we only know so little about the security with Kenji’s help. Whenever we bumped into people, we quickly hid in whatever way we could.
"This is bad for my heart," I said.
The two of us entered the house, and it was more extravagant than how it looked outside. ’How could Night’s uncle that was kicked out of their family afford something like this?’ This is the first thing that came into my mind after seeing all the luxurious items and decorations in the hallway.
The CCTV cameras were all disabled thanks to Kenji’s hacking skills, and I don’t think they have noticed it yet.
"Don’t you think it’s been too long?"
Kaoru quickly pulled me behind him and we hid from the people that were going to bump into us.
"Do you mean that guy in the basement? It is indeed being too long now; I wonder what’s going on with master’s mind. He despises that man because he’s the heir to the Yamaguchi-gumi, isn’t he?"
Hearing that confirms Night’s location in this place.
"Yeah, I know the master wanted to kill him but he’s enjoying torturing him before that. You should have seen that guy’s condition. It’s horrendous."
I balled my fists as I bit my lower lip. ’Patience, Noelle. You’re here to save him now, there’s no need to lose your cool and ruin everything.’ I calmed myself down as we waited for the men to get away.
Kaoru and I followed those two guys from behind, they really lowered their guard, and we’re not even sure if they were on the way to the basement. Before we could even reach the basement, a loud sound came from the outside causing those two to hurry there.
"It’s our chance," I said as I pulled Kaoru towards the hallway and we ran as fast as we could. I didn’t even know where we were going and everything looks oddly the same until we reached a weird huge door.
It was a metal door, unlike those other wooden and white doors, it looks rusty and old. ’I have a feeling that this is the place.’
"What’s with the commotion outside?"
My eyes widened after I heard footsteps coming below this metal door and an unfamiliar voice. There’s no other place to hide into and I don’t know what to do.
’Are we going to get caught here?’
My heart started beating faster and louder, almost making it seems like it was going to jump out of my body. That was until when the door opened and the guy looked at Kaoru and me.
I closed my eyes shut and my grip on Kaoru’s hand tightened as I hid behind him. Kaoru also moved forward so that he could hide me more.
"Oh? Are you two the new hired?" The man said which made me open my eyes, and I saw that he was wiping his bloody hands.
I gulped after witnessing the blood stain on his cheek and I couldn’t answer.
"Tsk. They didn’t even explain it to the cleaners." He muttered which we completely heard. "You don’t have to go deeper into the basement, just clean the tools near the gate." The man said with an annoyed tone as he left us.
W-What was that? Do they actually hire cleaners? Aren’t we too lucky with that?
"Ah, right." The man stopped us from entering the metal gate. "There is still someone there, so please use your uniform, or else they might mistake you two as intruders." He added.
And when he was finally gone, I let out a sigh after feeling relieved. "What was that? I thought we were going to get caught. Is that guy stupid?"
Kaoru looked serious as if he was thinking about it clearly. "I don’t remember, but I think I saw that man somewhere before." He said, but we didn’t have the time to bother with that.
Since we were already seen by someone, we need to push through and let Night go. As soon as we got him back, Kenji and Aziel will start to fight Junichiro’s men.
We walked down the stairs, and I could hear a faint sound of water dropping onto the cold and damp floor. As we go further into the basement, it’s starting to look more like a dungeon for criminals. There are lots of bars, but there isn’t anyone behind those bars.
I’m still holding onto Kaoru’s hand as we continued walking towards the straight path. The more we walk, the more we could hear the faint sound of someone groaning. ’It can’t be.’
I couldn’t control myself as I ran toward the sound, but Kaoru immediately pulled me back before someone could see me.
"This is getting nowhere." We heard someone saying.
Kaoru grabbed me and covered my mouth. "Please bear with it, milady." He whispered.
We hid behind a huge pillar in between another path and that straight path. That’s when we heard men walking while complaining.
"Why is master still making us torture that? He won’t say anything and he doesn’t look like he can anymore."
I gulped after hearing that. T-There’s no way Night would just go down like that... but I also know how it will be difficult for him to fight off all those men after us.
"Shouldn’t we be chasing after the girl now? It’s almost been a week, and the master should just kill that guy already."
I couldn’t calm down, and I could feel the anger filling my heart as I could still hear those people’s voices.
"I think the master is planning to use that guy against the Yamaguchi-gumi. He wants to take it for himself by killing the heir." One of them said. "I don’t think it’ll be effective since the boss of that yakuza doesn’t care about his heirs."
The fact that I couldn’t retort to what they said made me feel so miserable.
"Let’s just go. Where are the cleaners anyway? This place stinks." As their footsteps grew farther, Kaoru’s hand that was covering my mouth moved away.
We walked again, but this time, I stopped on my own accord after seeing a bloody mess. Blood was all over the floor and the walls, and in the middle of that, there he was, all tied up on the chair and was bleeding to death.
I huffed and puffed. Words wouldn’t come out of my mouth. My heart started aching.
