Chapter 109: There’s Just No Way

We rode the rollercoaster and I didn’t expect it to be so fun that I forced Night to ride it with me for the second time. Since we got all-you-can-ride free tickets, we can’t waste it.

"I’ll go again!"

Night grabbed my arm making me look at him. "Let’s try another ride." He said while sweating buckets. "There are more enjoyable rides." I guess, there are. I’ll ride the rollercoaster again later, but for now, let’s explore this amusement park.

I rushed to the nearest drink store after we finished riding all the rides on the east part of the amusement park. "I think the horror rollercoaster’s on the west side," I said with excitement as I turned to Night, but he was looking all haggard and tired.

"What? Are you tired already?"

"This is a date to accompany me." He sighed. "But I enjoy it as long as you’re having fun."

I frowned after hearing that. ’I might smile if I don’t do this.’

"A-Anyway, should we eat first? You look like you’re dying." A smile quickly formed on his face catching me off guard. Can’t he stop smiling like that? I’m not used to seeing him smiling so whenever he smiles brightly like that, it makes me question things.

We entered the nearest fast food chain, but I don’t know if Night will eat such food. "Are you sure this will be fine? There are other restaurants around." I told him but he looked at me with a clueless look on his face.

"What’s the difference?"

Does he really not know? "Is it your first time eating in a fast food restaurant?"

Night nodded. "It’s a first with you, so it doesn’t matter." He said.

What does he mean by that? I only shook my head as we took our seats. Oh, right. Night doesn’t know how to order food in this place. "I’ll order, so wait here."

"Why can’t I go with you?" His hand grabbed my arm.

The way he’s looking at me, it’ll make other people think that I’m being mean to him. ’When he’s always been the mean one.’ I sighed.

"Fine, let’s go." We went to the counter, and I could hear the girls around us whispering about how good-looking Night is. ’I know that he is good-looking, but could they keep those words to themselves?’

"Uhm."

I looked around after I heard a woman’s voice. That’s where I saw a woman that doesn’t look that much older than us holding onto Night’s sleeve.

"Is it okay to ask for your number?"

At first glance, she looks really beautiful, with those hazel eyes and long brown hair. Her eyes were twinkling as she looks up at Night’s face. ’Any man would say yes to her, and she probably knows that.’

"No."

The girl was more than surprised after Night said that, even her friends were stunned. "U-Uhm, do you already have a girlfriend?" The girl asked and Night looked at me with confusion as I look back at him with my forehead creased. ’Why is he staring at me?’

"Not yet." He then turned back to the girl as he said that. ’W-What’s with that answer?’

The girl rolled her eyes at me as she stared back at Night. "Then why don’t we hang out?" She said. ’Wow, I feel like I’m being hated despite not doing anything.’ I shook my head as I moved to the line at the counter.

"Why?"

The girl immediately clung to Night’s arm and said, "Because I’ve taken a liking to you."

But the moment she said that Night pulled his arm away from her and said, "Disgusting."

My eyes went wide open as the girl gasped in surprise. ’T-This guy should really learn how to control his mouth!’

"You’re not that pretty, don’t get ahead of yourself." He added making me pull him away from that fast food place as quickly as possible.

’Does he like telling people not to get ahead of themselves!? This jerk!’

"Why did we leave?"

I sighed. "It’s because you can’t control yourself and we made a scene." Actually, it’s not we. It’s just them.

"Then let’s go to that restaurant instead." Night pointed to someplace else so I just followed him. Maybe this time, girls would leave him alone.

As usual, I thought wrong. Girls are still fawning over him the moment we entered the restaurant, but this time, they were just staring at him. Night thought that he doesn’t want to be disturbed again so we went to a VIP room where it was only the two of us.

"What do you want to eat? Do you want strawberry desserts?" He asked as soon as we sat down.

I’m so glad it’s cooler here and I feel like I’m about to pass out due to sleepiness. You know, that feeling when you got bathed in the sun for a long time then you went somewhere cool. It’ll make you sleepy in no time.

"Do you want to take a nap somewhere?" That’s a weird thing to ask on a date, but thinking about it, this is Night Yamaguchi. There’s nothing normal about him in the first place.

"No, let’s eat and then ride some more."

Night smiled. "Okay."

The day continued, and I didn’t expect it to be fun. I’ve learned things about Night, he doesn’t like eating sweets. Despite his manly look, he gets motion sickness quick so he just realized that he doesn’t like extreme rides.

"That’s funny," I said laughing at him. If it was the normal Night, he’ll scowl at me now and say hurtful words to stop me from laughing.

"Is it?"

But he’s smiling at me right now instead of getting angry, causing me to stop laughing. ’This is not normal. I shouldn’t let my guard down.’ I thought as I pointed towards the rollercoaster. "You said we’ll ride it again, right?"

Night sighed. "Fine." As we walked towards the rollercoaster, I felt something dripping on my cheek, and when I looked up, it started raining.

"Let’s find some shelter first." Night covered me with his arm as he pulled me towards the nearest shop where we could take shelter.

Even though we arrived before the rain gets worse, we still got soaking wet. "I’ll get some towels for us." Night said as he rushed into the rain towards the other store in front of us. He doesn’t have to, but he was too fast and I couldn’t stop him.

I looked up and saw the rain dropping from the sky. All the people are taking cover from it, and some children are actually enjoying being rained on. It made me smile at how their parents struggled from taking them off the rain. I wish I could be carefree like a child again.

This looks like we can’t ride the rollercoaster again. Even though it was raining hard, the happiness in this amusement park didn’t seem to stop as the staff prepared an event just exactly for this kind of weather.

’It’ll make me look childish if I go there and watch the play with the kids.’ It’s in the middle of the rain.

"Why does it have to rain cats and dogs?" It was really sunny before and too hot. Was it because of that? The forecast didn’t say anything about the rain though. "Ah!" I forgot that I brought an umbrella.

I pulled the folding umbrella out of my bag. It’s really funny how I forgot to tell Night about this. ’Now this will make it look like a scene from a drama.’ I thought as I opened the umbrella.

Since Night doesn’t have an umbrella, I guess I’ll be going to him. Although he’s pretending to be good to me, I feel like if I let my guard down, I’ll be falling into his trap and I’ll be all over him again.

’Night’s not being kind to me because he wanted to. If he’s not making me fall for him to crush my heart later, maybe he’s being kind to me because of what grandpa Kenta told him.’

Also, what if he’s being kind to me because I get along with his sister? That must be it, there’s no way Night will be kind to me for no reason. I giggled.

"There’s just no way," I said while shaking my head.

I was being careful not to splash too much water on my skirt since the mud will stain the light blue skirt I’m wearing. "This is hard." I thought as I walked towards that store where Night went into.

"Hi, miss."

I stopped after I heard a voice behind me. When I looked behind, I saw a man standing but his black umbrella was covering his face.

My forehead creased. "Do I know you?" I asked.

He slowly moved his umbrella upwards, the moment I saw his face, I couldn’t hear anything else but the sound of the rain. That familiar-looking mask caused my legs to tremble and I felt weak.

"Did you miss me?"

When I was about to turn back, I felt someone pulling me from behind and covering my mouth and nose with a handkerchief.

’I need to shout!’

The last thing I saw was that hateful mask looking at me as I lose consciousness.
