Chapter 190: Chapter 154: Yixia, Up All Night
He wouldn’t have known if he hadn’t looked, but the sight gave him a real shock.
He stared at the oden shop’s sign, stunned. "Xia Lu Oden?!"
"That’s right," Lu Fan answered. "The ’Xia’ is you. As for ’Lu,’ it has two homophones—one can mean ’daughter,’ and the other is my surname. Haha, am I a genius or what?"
Jiang Yixia couldn’t believe how shameless Lu Fan was.
He’d put her name on the sign without even asking for her permission.
She quickly said, "You need to change this name right now."
"The sign’s already made. How about this: you come supervise me every day, and we can change it whenever you want," Lu Fan said shamelessly.
Jiang Yixia was at a loss.
She couldn’t be bothered to argue about it anymore; she just wanted Lu Fan to leave quickly.
Just then, Jiang Ming arrived.
The moment he walked in, he called out, "Sis, I’m here!"
But a second later, he noticed Lu Fan was there too.
His expression turned awkward.
Lu Fan, however, looked at Jiang Ming calmly and smiled. "Jiang Ming, you’re here. Have you had breakfast? Want to try some of the oden I made?"
"No, thanks." Jiang Ming didn’t want to exchange any more words with him than necessary.
He walked over to Jiang Yixia and asked, "Sis, what did you need to see me about?"
Jiang Yixia glanced at Lu Fan, then took out her phone and showed her brother the report.
Jiang Ming froze for a second. Looking at the report, he asked, "Sis, what is this?"
"It’s personal information on your girlfriend, Ma Xiaofei. Take a look," Jiang Yixia answered.
Lu Fan, standing to the side, hadn’t expected Jiang Ming to have already started dating that technician. ’It’s a good thing they found out the truth now. If it had been a few days later, after my little brother-in-law had fallen in any deeper, it would’ve been difficult to pull him out.’ ’After all, the tricks of a technician’s trade were enough to leave a man completely mesmerized.’ ’Especially for an older virgin like Jiang Ming. Once he got a taste of what a technician could offer, he’d probably end up being a simp for life.’
Jiang Ming was shocked. He hadn’t expected that Lu Fan could actually dig up so much information.
He quickly scrolled through it.
But when he saw that Ma Xiaofei wasn’t a physical therapist but a "technician" at a foot massage parlor, Jiang Ming lost his composure.
He frowned and looked at Jiang Yixia. "Sis, is this real? This isn’t some kind of prank, is it?"
"I trust him." The "him" Jiang Yixia referred to was, of course, Lu Fan.
Jiang Ming turned to look at Lu Fan, who calmly explained, "Don’t worry. If even a sliver of that information is false, then what would have been the point of all my years of business dealings?"
Jiang Ming fell silent.
He felt a fresh wave of despair when he read that Ma Xiaofei had been working as a technician since her third year of middle school.
But thinking back on their previous conversations, all the signs from Ma Xiaofei were there.
It did seem plausible that she was a technician.
’After all, if she was a physical therapist, how could she possibly have to work overtime every single night?’ ’Even when he messaged her at midnight, she would take more than half an hour to reply.’ ’That was obviously when her session with a client ended!’
Jiang Ming was on the verge of an emotional breakdown.
Although he’d been taught his whole life to stay away from people with tattoos, he had thought this girl was different.
’Ma Xiaofei was supposed to be a considerate woman who understood love.’
But now, all the data told Jiang Ming that this girl was basically just a punk.
This time, Jiang Ming truly broke down.
Seeing this, Lu Fan tried to comfort him. "It’s okay. I can introduce you to some nice office ladies. My company has plenty of single women."
"No, thanks," Jiang Ming said, turning to leave.
Jiang Yixia was worried and quickly called out, "Jiang Ming, where are you going?"
"I’m going to find her," Jiang Ming replied.
Jiang Yixia warned him, "Go find her if you must, but don’t do anything rash. Your relationship with her isn’t that deep; it’s not a matter of life and death."
"I know, Sis. Don’t worry."
Jiang Ming glanced back at Jiang Yixia and Lu Fan, then left the flower shop.
Jiang Yixia was still worried, her gaze following Jiang Ming’s departing figure.
Lu Fan knew what she was thinking and said, "Don’t worry. I already had Chen He start tailing him. He won’t let anything happen to him."
Only after hearing this did Jiang Yixia let out a sigh of relief.
But then she looked at Lu Fan and told him to leave. "Okay, you can go now. I need to be alone for a bit."
"Alright. I’ll leave the oden here, then. Remember to eat it."
With that, Lu Fan left.
Jiang Yixia stared at the bowl of oden on the table, lost in a whirlwind of thoughts.
Back at the oden shop, Lu Fan leaned back in a chair to rest.
Jiali came over and asked, "Boss, the young master’s team has finished this month’s accounting."
"Any mistakes?"
"None. Even though this was their first full month, there wasn’t a single error," Jiali replied. "The young master can be a little overconfident sometimes, but he’s very capable."
Lu Fan nodded in agreement. "That’s true. I have to admit, the kid’s got some skills."
He then said to Jiali, "In that case, to really test his abilities, let’s have a few more of the companies pull out of their contracts. Ten days ago, there were eighteen shops in the partnership, and now there are only five. I want to see how he’ll handle that."
Jiali listened and then asked, "Boss, isn’t that a bit too harsh?"
"It’s fine," Lu Fan said with a smile. "Only when he hits rock bottom and I’m the one to help him up will he truly appreciate my favor. Otherwise, he’ll think he achieved everything on his own."
"Understood. I’ll get right on it," Jiali said with a nod.
Lu Fan had originally planned to take it easy. After all, the oden shop had just opened and hadn’t had any pre-launch promotion.
