Chapter 106: 106-Alternative solution

"What is so urgent that you summoned us all here?" Zeyron demanded to know, he didn’t quite like being ordered around, especially by an unknown figure.

"That’s isn’t polite," Theren corrected him, but he too turned to Fairy Zarathia with the same question in his eyes.

She had summoned them with urgency but was yet to give them an explanation despite having been seated their for over ten minutes.

Fairly Zarathia, on the other hand, wasn’t at all bothered by their impatience. She sat lazily and played with her hair like a child. The scene was unlike the image of a powerful fairy such as herself.

The more impatient they sounded, the more she dallied. "I don’t think she has anything to say. She just wants attention."

"We should give her the benefit of the doubt," Nytherael spoke up for her. The fairy had proved helpful in many instances, and he refused to believe that she would call them all there without a befitting reason. "Let’s give her a minute to gather her thoughts."

"A minute? She’s had more than twelve," Zeyron argued. Their time might not be previous, but his surely was, and he was in no mood to trade it away for matters that weren’t important.

"I hate to agree with Zeyron on this, Nythe, but she has had time, and instead of saying anything, she’s just sitting there," Rhysandor spoke.

Zeyron nodded. "If you don’t value my opinion, then atheist hear your friend out and urge this beastwoman to put us out of our misery by telling us the purpose of our summon."

"We should..."

"I don’t mind sitting out here and enjoying the sun, but why must Ael suffer through this?" Sseraphis asked. He raised his hand, holding the wooden umbrella higher to shield Aeltharion from the scorching sun of midday.

The moment Sseraphis complained, Nytherael changed her stance and instantly turned to Fairy Zarathia with urgency in his voice. "Why have you summoned us here?"

Zeyron, Theren, and Rhysandor scoffed. All the while, they had been complaining, and he sided with the fairy, meanwhile one complaint from Sseraphis, and suddenly he too wanted to know why they were called there.

They felt that Nytherael had double standards. His stance was firm as long as they were the ones suffering an inconvenience, but the second his lover complained, he softened and changed his mind.

"What is it now? I am on your side," he shamelessly claimed.

"Lucky us," they chimed.

Fairy Zarathia sighed. She got tired of hearing them argue, so she decided to speak her mind and end the gathering before she went deaf.

"The urgent news that I have for all of you is that I have found the solution to the curse afflicting beasts everywhere," she said.

All eyes focused on her, and every single mouth thar had been yapping before fell completely silent. She had captured their attention by touching on a subject that had them all worried.

Especially Nytherael, who had been struggling to tap into the connection he shared with his mates to reactivate that light and free the beasts from their suffering.

"A method that doesn’t include us tapping into our bond?"

"Yes, obviously," Fairy Zarathia said in a matter-of-fact tone.

"How?"

"What do you need to get started?"

"Why are you here talking to us when you should be putting this method to good use?"

"What are we talking here for? Let’s get to work!"

Every beast had an opinion except for Ssirel, Ssore, and Sseraphis. The three Noxveil brothers didn’t have a shred of interest in saving the world.

They remained silent and watched the other beasts around the table get excited about an answer to their prayers.

"Aren’t you excited?" Kyan asked Ssoren. The cold snake lifted his eyelashes lazily and glanced at him like he was staring at a boring piece of art he was stuck with no matter how much it bored him.

"What part of my existence gave you the impression that I get thrills from doing good deeds?" His voice sounded even lazier.

"This can awaken all the beasts that are paralyzed and all will be good in the world again..."

"Can you at least hold back your excitement until you hear the method she found," he interrupted his happiness. "She said that she found an alternative way, she hasn’t said what that way is and you’re already celebrating. What if that method isn’t doable, then?" He asked.

His voice wasn’t raised, but everyone was still able to hear him, and immediately, the excitement died down. The beasts ceased their celebrations and turned to Fairy Zarathia to hear more about the alternative solution she found.

"It’s nothing serious and won’t require much effort," Zarathia said.

"When we get started. The sooner, the better," Samahita stated, her worry for beastfolk of the dynasty reaching its peak.

"Tonight."

"Tonight?" Nytherael thought out loud. "Why tonight though, can’t you do it now?"

The fairy massaged her temples their excitement was exhausting. Instead of processing the information slowly and giving her the time to explain everything properly, they were reacting faster and asking many irrelevant questions they sidetracked her news.

"We need the moon to heal every beastfolk that was affected by the curse."

"The moon..."

"No questions," she raised her hand to shush every beast around. She could see the numerous questions burning through their brains that they wanted to ask her.

"The three moons came into existence because of the tri-soul bond, and it contains the same energy and light from that fateful day. We simply need to tap into that and recreate that light, and once the world is engulfed and all the beasts fall under its light, we can compell them to forget their visions," she explained in breaths without a break to avoid any questions being asked and going off track.

Ssoren turned to his side, "Now you can celebrate," he told Kyan and flashed his whitened teeth at him as though trying to smile but it came out creepy and made Kyan pause, debating whether to be amused or frightened.

"I don’t see what the celebration is about. The world is more quiet and peaceful with every other being paralyzed. Must we ruin this peace?" Ssirel asked.

Fior felt the veins on his head about to pop. Calling Ssirel, the devil felt like an insult to the devil. The shake beside him was worse than the devil.

"Would it kill you not to express your opinion?"

"I actually agree with him. The world is peaceful right now," Ssoren said, taking a deep breath that calmer him. "It’ll be a pity to ruin that."

"True," Sseraphis said, fanning Aeltharion. "The air is fresher too. It lacks poison, but it’s clean," he added.

Nytherael paused. Now he didn’t know where he stood. He was tempted to leave the world as is to please Sseraphis, but he knew that Aeltharion wouldn’t have it. As expected, Aeltharion raised his finger and flicked Sseraphis’ forehead. It was painful, but it got the snake’s attention.

"Are you mad? What do you mean by that?"

"I mean... when is night getting here, we need to save the world," Sseraphis changed his stance and smiled mischievously.

"That’s more like it."

"Ugh!" Ssirel and Ssoren made a baffing sound.

"I think that we should care about the general population. It’s our duty..."

"Duty?" Ssoren and Ssirel’s faces twisted. They shared a glance and instantly got on the same page. "We are out. Call us when you’re all done saving the world," With that, they got up and exited the table.

Kyan had no choice but to leave too because he couldn’t be more than ten steps away from Ssoren.

"They are an interesting bunch," Sheana approved. Their attitude was just right by her standards. "Since being a hero is optional. I’m going leave too," she said and left before her sister could her back, and Lioris followed her out.

Nerezza didn’t linger either. "I take it you all can handle it, right. Excuse us," she pulled Rhysandor and made for the existence.

"Unbelievable!" Aenyra gasped.

"I guess we are the only ones left," Nytherael said, making head count.

Sseraphis went to hold his hand up, but Aeltharion grabbed it. "Don’t even think about it. You’re helping."

"Aaahhh," he groaned. "Why do they get to leave but I have to stay!" He pouted.
