Chapter 1095: Featherine Augustus Aurora
07th Expansion Bubble
A platform hovered in the blankness of the Bubble, surrounded by several broken structures.
In the middle of the platform lay a large sofa.
And, on that sofa, sprawled casually, was the majestic Witch of Theatergoing, Drama, and Spectating — Featherine Augustus Aurora — the Deep One!
"Hehe..." Featherine giggled to Herself, watching a timeline, commonly called a Fragment in the 07th Expansion Bubble. It looked like a broken crystal, hovering above Her. Another crystal blinked into existence, attracting Her eyes. "... Oh? That’s... intriguing..."
Despite Featherine’s mature look, She couldn’t help but assume a rather unsightly, mischievous expression as She amused Herself with the happenings of various timelines.
Her purple, slitted eyes kept shaking as She giggled, intervening as She pleased with those events, diverging the timelines for Her mere entertainment.
Suddenly, those purple eyes shook again.
However, this time, it hadn’t been because of a timeline, but because of the presence that had knocked on the doors of the Bubble.
With pure thrill, Featherine sat up and threw Herself off the sofa, Her purple hair bouncing as it fell behind Her.
Guest...
After — so many years... — She finally had a guest!
Not worrying about the presence of a foreign Deep One in the Bubble even a bit, and even ignoring the apprehensions of other Deep Ones, Featherine kicked those doors wide open.
A blinding flash!
In the next moment, the Great Witch found Herself examining the old man who had appeared on Her platform.
"... My, my..." Featherine’s lips curled higher than they had in the last thousand years. "What a surprise it is... Zelretch."
Looking at the Great Witch, Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg — the Deep One of the Fate Bubble — sighed.
He briefly looked around and found almost everything the same as the time He had last visited Her. Featherine had forced Him to stay for thousands of years, continuously narrating the events across various timelines as She played Her little games with the Characters.
He didn’t want that to happen again, as too many things had gone wrong just because of that brief time spent with the Great Witch.
But He had no choice, either.
In the last few months, Zelretch had already visited a few Deep Ones across the Multiverse. Instead of disappointment, though, He had received nothing. Not even entertainment.
It wasn’t like there were uncountable Deep Ones who suited His particular needs.
Even among the suitable ones, only a handful of Bubble Entities looked at Him... favorably. Mildly.
Most of Them had already rejected Him.
His coming here didn’t mean He had exhausted all those choices, though.
However, the Magician of the Second Magic hated asking for favors from subpar individuals, even if They were Deep Ones.
Featherine made Him remember some past mistakes, but She was still similar to Him... in some ways.
In the Great Witch, often, Zelretch could see Himself.
If He had chosen to have timelines of His own in the Fate Bubble, then He would be exactly similar to Featherine. Perhaps that’s why He had picked up Her habit of entertaining Himself through the timelines and their Characters?
"Hehe..." Featherine walked toward Zelretch, smiling playfully. "Still mad at Me, Jewely?"
"Please don’t call me that," the Father of Jewel Magecraft replied, stroking His white beard. "And, no. I am not mad at you, Featherine..."
The Great Witch pouted. "We decided you would call me Feather..." She complained. "So, you are mad. I didn’t mean to do it, you know. You told me you were interested in that stupid Ancient Magical Script. So... I just got it and gifted it to you. Even that Bubble’s Deep One didn’t know that I took it... Believe Me."
"Oh, I believe you," Zelretch said, smiling, but cursing within.
If He were being real, then He had no business getting mad at Featherine.
Because He had been interested in the Ancient Magical Script and how it manifested Nature. It had felt similar to a Script that could literally materialize the Root, making it nigh irresistible, despite Him already attaining the Second Magic.
Then, on top of that irresistible urge, He had erred by mentioning it to the Great Witch.
As if that hadn’t been enough of a mistake, Zelretch had even accepted Her gift, instead of returning it.
Not only had that destabilized the entire Harry Potter Bubble, but it had also angered that child — Death the Artificer — creating a huge misunderstanding; a misunderstanding that Zelretch couldn’t just clear by talking it out. Not now.
Anyway, what was done was done.
"I have a request..."
Before Zelretch could finish His words, Featherine pulled Him to Her sofa, a storm of crystals surrounding the two Deep Ones.
"You must see this, Jewely..."
"Please don’t call..."
"This child of man is so... crazy..." Featherine continued, interrupting Zelretch again.
The Fate Bubble’s Deep One sighed again in defeat. Of course, any Character chosen by the Great Witch would become crazy. She could grant the Character the ability to retain their memories across various timelines and divergences. That was nothing but a curse, as these Characters were fated to suffer mental paralysis.
But that’s exactly why Zelretch considered Featherine to be the sole, most apt solution to His little problem, His old eyes lingering on the horn-like device around the Great Witch’s head. It was this device that let Her retain Her memories without going into periodic hibernations like most of the Deep Ones, including Him.
Featherine Augustus Aurora was a flawed Deep One, preferring entertainment over everything else, willingly choosing such a weakness by tethering Her memories to an external item.
Yet, She was also the only Deep One who... got Him.
"Fe..." Zelretch paused, making the Great Witch look at Him. Then, deciding within, He continued, "Feather... I have a request."
Featherine’s purple eyes stirred, Her smile flickering.
Instantly, Her curious, mischievous personality disappeared, a wise, clever look manifesting on Her face.
"Show her to Me..."
Zelretch let the girls loose.
Silver mist oozed out of Him, taking the form of the Three-Headed Devourer, Selene’s murderous hiss overwhelming the surroundings.
—I WILL KILL YOU...—
With a tap of Featherine’s finger, Selene paused, hanging motionlessly in front of Them.
"How... magnificent..." the Deep One of 07th Expansion noted with pure amazement. "She... How is she alive... with His corruption?!"
