Chapter 423: Chapter 431: Saving Trouble
If it weren’t for James Black calling out to Jane Sampson several times in the living room, eventually losing patience and coming into the bedroom with a cold expression, Jane might not have been willing to hang up the phone at all.
"Who were you talking to on the phone so happily?" James asked after Jane sat down.
"Senior Young’s daughter, the one you met when we were eating breakfast last time," Jane responded.
"Oh, that delightful little miss." James was impressed with the charming young girl. After all, he wasn’t a very patient person and didn’t particularly like children, but that young girl was one of the few children James actually liked.
"What did Shirley Young call you about?" Once James spoke, he didn’t even notice that he seemed to be examining Jane in a way, insisting on knowing all the details of her previous conversation.
Luckily, Jane didn’t think too much of it and told him her plans for tomorrow morning.
Hearing that Shirley Young was taking Jane to the airport with her, James’s eyes moved subtly, he hummed acknowledgment. His tone was indifferent, making it difficult to discern his emotions.
After dinner, Jane used the last evening before entering the film set to go through the script one more time. After she finished, she suddenly realized that it was already twelve o’clock.
She cursed softly, realizing she hadn’t paid attention to the time, and at this time, James must have already rested, yet her luggage was still not packed. It seemed she would have to get up early tomorrow morning to finish packing.
After putting the script in the backpack she would carry the next day, Jane turned off the living room electric light and tiptoed to open the bedroom door.
As she walked in and saw James still leaning against the head of the bed reading a book, she exclaimed in surprise, "It’s already 12:30, I thought you were resting."
"I’ve packed half of your luggage. For the rest, see if there’s anything else you want to add. Make sure it’s all packed before sleep, so you don’t have to rush early in the morning," James said casually while flipping a page in his book, as if the comment didn’t require his full attention and his mind was still focused on the book.
Jane scratched her head, thanked him, and then entered the cloakroom.
It was only then she realized that when he said he packed half, he was being modest.
James had essentially finished packing her luggage; what was left were her daily cosmetics, which she would simply pack after using them the next morning.
He had even packed her spare socks and underwear, each pair sealed in clean white plastic bags.
Her frequently worn clothes had also been meticulously packed.
She had been away from home so often recently that he had come to understand exactly what items she needed to take with her each time she left.
"Convenient!" That was the first thought that came to Jane’s mind. Having a husband in the house brought such benefits—it was like having an additional nanny.
Sometimes, James could be as caring as the perfect mister.
Jane covered her mouth and snickered inside the cloakroom while James urged her from outside, "Finish up and come out, it’s very late, and you should rest and sleep early."
"Oh," Jane responded subconsciously.
After responding, she was about to step out but suddenly pulled her leg back in urgency.
Rest and sleep early?
Sleep?
Was it her sleeping?
Or was it him sleeping with her?
Was this "sleep" used as a verb?
Or as a noun?
