Chapter 374: Chapter 382: It’s Not a Big Deal

James Black listened patiently to Jane Sampson’s speech, no matter what she said. He just listened, sometimes murmuring ’Mhm’ quietly as a response to let her know he was still listening.

Once Jane had finished speaking, he spoke again, "Call me before you come back, and I’ll pick you up."

"Sure." Jane agreed obediently, but inside she kept mumbling to herself, wondering why James seemed to be getting more and more naggy.

After ending the video, Jane immediately sat up and stretched her limbs. Where was the look of being too full to move now?

It was only because she feared that if she didn’t change the subject, James would keep harping on about her previous mistake and stay angry. But at that moment, she couldn’t find another topic to distract him, so she brought up the story of her feeling stuffed, using a deliberately coquettish tone. "Old Johnson, my brother has handed it over to you; why are you still looking for him? Didn’t I tell you just now? My brother won’t interfere with this," Peter tapped Lieutenant Johnson’s shoulder, advising earnestly, "To the Chief, these are all trivial matters. We subordinates shouldn’t trouble him with such minor stuff. So, as he said himself just now, he won’t get involved. Don’t send that list and information to his office anymore."

"It’s always necessary to send a copy over. Who knows when the Chief might find the time to take a look? It’s just a backup of the information, not a big deal," Lieutenant Johnson said. After contemplating for a moment, he fixed his gaze on Peter’s face for a few seconds, then suddenly said, "Peter, something’s off with you."

"I..." A guilty Peter was at a loss for words under Lieutenant Johnson’s pointed accusation.

He glanced in the direction James had gone, then pulled Lieutenant Johnson further away before saying, "Old Johnson, out of all the participants this time, who are you most looking forward to seeing? Who do you really want to meet?"
