Chapter 2420: Chapter 2428: Bear Parent at Home
Don’t be fooled by how James Carter usually looks warm and genteel, but when he gets angry, just one look from him is enough to make Jane Sampson settle down.
Jane Sampson realized for the first time that in this world, there is someone who can keep her in check even better than James Black.
"Do you know how worried I was when I found out about that message early in the morning? I was as worried as I was angry. James Black is not a child; he doesn’t need you by his side all the time. You care about him, but haven’t you thought about us worrying about how hard you’re running around?"
"What if something unexpected happened on the road? What do you want me to do? When you’re out, dad and mom, grandpa and grandma have repeatedly told me to take good care of you. What would I do if something happened to you?"
"You’re not a child anymore, so why is your impatience even harder to handle than a child’s?"
Jane Sampson had already finished putting on her makeup, and James Carter was clearly ready to preach until departure time.
Jane Sampson glanced at Coco Edwards standing next to her, with a pleading look on her face, but Coco turned her face away, pretending not to see.
Jane Sampson could only shrink her head, turn back, and continue to listen intently to James Carter’s lecture.
She had to nod her head sincerely and say, "Yes, Brother, you’re right. I was wrong this time; I will change, I promise!"
Only then did James Carter calm down, quietly watching Jane Sampson, to see how genuine her attitude of admitting fault was. After a long while, he reached out and rubbed Jane Sampson’s head, "Behave yourself. If anything happens to you, I won’t be able to live in peace for the rest of my life, understand?"
The last time Jane Sampson had an accident in front of him, James Carter could never forget that fear and guilt.
He’s afraid he won’t be able to protect his sister again.
"Brother, I really know I was wrong. Please don’t tell grandpa, grandma, dad, and mom." Jane Sampson’s head was almost drooping to the ground, "James Black already lectured me; I truly know I was wrong, and I won’t dare anymore in the future."
Jane Sampson rubbed her head against James Carter’s arm, acting coy, "Last night, I was just impulsive and couldn’t think of anything else. I promise I won’t do it again."
"James Black lectured you, too?" James Carter’s tone instantly turned unfriendly upon hearing Jane Sampson’s words, "So you ran back just for him? You ran back to accompany him late at night instead of sleeping, and he still has the nerve to scold you? Did he give you a hard time?"
Coco Edwards, standing to the side, was nearly suffocated listening to this.
???
Protecting someone can be like this?
"Mr. Carter, I think Mr. Black was right to lecture her; little Jane needs to be disciplined," Coco Edwards finally stood up to say a fair word, "Mr. Black can’t spoil little Jane, otherwise, with her temperament, you’ll be lecturing her here, while Mr. Black is irrationally defending her there, and little Jane could just take off, Mr. Carter, it’s always lenient parents at home that spoil the children."
"Are you saying my brother is a lenient parent?" Jane Sampson rolled up her sleeves, "I’ll tolerate being called a spoiled child, but I can’t tolerate you calling my brother a lenient parent. Coco, let’s go over there and have a good talk about how you can call my brother a lenient parent!"
Saying that, Jane Sampson grabbed Coco Edwards and darted out of James Carter’s room, sprinting all the way, not caring about her image, back to her own room, where she slammed the door shut and patted her chest.
"Oh my, I just realized that when my brother gets angry, he’s scarier than the one at my house." Jane Sampson held her forehead, "One wrong step and it leads to a lifetime of regret, I’m practically becoming a villain everyone wants to beat."
