Chapter 2377: Chapter 2385: Sense of Humor
After breakfast, James Black went back to the bedroom to change into his morning run clothes, while Jane Sampson was already dressed up and ready to leave.
She was used to telling James before going out, so she waited for him for a while in the living room.
But usually, he changes clothes like magic, and even though today he has been in there for two minutes, he still hasn’t come out, making Jane feel like James is unusually slow and this is something he wouldn’t normally do.
She then walked to James and asked, "Why are you changing clothes so slowly today? I just wanted to tell you I’m leaving, and I won’t be back for lunch at noon, so you don’t have to bring me a meal from the dining hall."
"Come here." James called Jane over, then took out the simple belt she had bought for him and handed it to her, "You bought it, you help me put it on."
"Are you serious?" Jane stood there dumbfounded, she thought James was joking that day.
"When did I joke with you?" James furrowed his eyebrows, "I don’t think I’m the kind of person who makes jokes with people."
Right.
Jane was now certain.
She also realized.
So, she really thought James had a humorous moment that day.
It really was...
To hell with his humor.
This guy, he really meant it.
Jane glanced at the man still waiting on her, but still reached out, took the belt, then lowered her head and seriously helped him thread the belt through the loops one by one, finally buckling it at the front.
"Done." Jane then patted James’s belt, stepped back a step, looked him up and down a few times, and complimented, "Looks good."
She didn’t specify if she meant the person looked good, or the stuff she bought looked good.
"Dressed like this today, are you going to a meeting?" Jane asked.
"Yes." James nodded, "I might stay in the city district all day. When you want to come back in the evening, give me a call, if it’s convenient, we’ll come back together."
Jane agreed, and the two of them went out together.
James got into the guard team’s designated car, and Jane drove her own car, the two leaving the guard team one after the other.
Once out of the guard team, Jane drove straight to Mother Rice’s law firm.
Mother Rice had been there early, but knowing Jane lived at the guard team, driving over was a bit far, so she didn’t require Jane to come in too early.
"Teacher!" Seeing Mother Rice, Jane called out sweetly, making Mother Rice, who was looking down at documents, laugh.
"Haven’t heard that title for a long time, hearing it now, it almost feels like going back to the past." Mother Rice used to take in a few interns before she got so busy.
Just later, as work got busier, she basically had no time in the consulting firm, so she pushed those things aside, focused on the cases.
"I’ll be leaving in half an hour, there’s a court session this morning, organize things and come with me, you can sit in." Mother Rice said, "It’s an economic type case, right in line with the early work for the female lead you’re going to play."
Jane was a little excited and nodded repeatedly.
"Your face is a bit too conspicuous, remember to bring your mask." Mother Rice reminded her, then continued to explain some details with her assistant.
In the morning, Jane was only there to sit in, so she followed Mother Rice’s advice, prepared thoroughly, and brought a mask and hat.
Unexpectedly, she was still recognized and even got her photo taken and posted online.
