Chapter 680: Chapter 462: Destroy the Ship
Watching as a whole barrel of gasoline flowed down the stairs and into the ship cabin, Dong Tianyu lit the barrel with a match, then kicked the ignited barrel into the cabin.
As the burning barrel rolled into the cabin through the doorway, it also ignited the gasoline that had just flowed down the stairs into the cabin, creating a trail of flames.
In such a situation, Dong Tianyu wasn’t like those foolhardy protagonists in movies who stupidly enter the cabin to check the situation inside the ship.
Faced with such a bizarre scene, Dong Tianyu preferred violent destruction. Having guessed that danger might emerge from the cabin, destroying the cabin directly meant that any hidden dangers inside wouldn’t be able to harm him.
After all, possessing the Cave, Dong Tianyu wasn’t lacking in supplies, so naturally, he didn’t covet any resources that might be inside the cabin.
However, the flames on the stairs didn’t burn as Dong Tianyu had expected; instead, over time, the flames grew weaker.
Through observation, it was clear that the entire ship was made of wood, not just the cabin door but also the stairs in front of Dong Tianyu, which were also pure wooden structures. Normally, any kind of wood should ignite once doused with gasoline.
Seeing the flames on the stairs gradually extinguish, Dong Tianyu had an indescribable feeling. Standing just outside the cabin door, he used his Divine Sense to sense the surroundings and already had some guesses, but because he hadn’t paid attention earlier, he couldn’t yet confirm the accuracy of his suspicions.
To test his hypothesis, Dong Tianyu again took out a barrel of gasoline from the Cave, made a hole in it, and once more poured the gasoline from the doorway into the cabin.
The gasoline followed the same trail left by the extinguished flames, flowing down the stairs into the cabin. When the barrel was empty, Dong Tianyu kicked it into the cabin, just as before.
Then he took out another barrel of gasoline from the Storage space, repeated the previous actions, and after pouring the two barrels of gasoline, he lit a match and dropped it onto the stairs, causing fierce flames to surge into the cabin instantly.
Dong Tianyu stood at the entrance observing the fire on the stairs while simultaneously using his Divine Sense to monitor the situation around the ship.
Although this time Dong Tianyu had poured two barrels of gasoline onto the stairs leading to the cabin, the fierce flames had only charred the stairs without igniting the wood.
However, although it seemed like Dong Tianyu had again exerted himself in vain, through observation with Divine Sense, he discovered that much of the dark energy that had been surrounding the ship had dissipated.
The dense black energy that had previously enveloped the ship now had substantially thinned. It appeared that the inability to ignite the wooden structure inside the cabin had come at a cost.
Having confirmed his suspicions, Dong Tianyu was even less inclined to risk entering the cabin. It was just gasoline; during the early and mid-period of the calamity, Dong Tianyu hadn’t collected much, but doling out a hundred or eighty barrels wouldn’t hurt him much.
For the third time, Dong Tianyu planned to pour five barrels of gasoline directly onto the stairs. But as he was pouring the third barrel at the entrance, a howling sound suddenly came from the bottom of the stairs.
Noticing this, Dong Tianyu decided to go all out, puncturing several holes in the remaining two barrels so that gasoline leaked directly from the openings, and then kicked the barrels into the staircase.
He then took out the matchbox again, removed a match, and lit the gasoline doused on the stairs once more.
As the match fell onto the stairs, the path of flame reappeared on the wooden staircase.
As the flames spread down the staircase, Zachary faintly heard the sound of something colliding inside the stairs. He guessed it was something in the cabin that had collided with the barrels he had just kicked down.
Just as Dong Tianyu was wondering what kind of monster might be hiding inside the cabin, he heard a ’boom,’ followed by the sound of something heavy hitting the walls.
Before the blast wave from the explosion could reach him at the stairs, another explosion sounded from within the cabin.
With the second explosion over, Dong Tianyu noticed that the stairs, which had been impossible to ignite and only charred before, now showed signs of carbonization.
Seeing a small part of the staircase carbonized, Dong Tianyu instantly realized that the continuous three fires had nearly exhausted the ship’s strange entity.
The supernatural entity now hiding in the ship no longer had the capacity to prevent the flames from igniting its body. Faced with this, Dong Tianyu, who always took advantage of an enemy’s weakness, took out several more barrels from the Storage space.
But this time, Dong Tianyu didn’t let the gasoline slowly enter the cabin through the stairs, but rather punctured the barrels haphazardly and kicked them into the cabin.
As one by one the barrels were kicked by Dong Tianyu down the stairs and into the cabin, soon continuous explosions from the exploding barrels were heard from within the cabin.
