Chapter 675: Chapter 459 Verification_2
This was actually a hint to the others that going back to pick up people was a risky affair. Most people inherently possess a self-serving nature, and once everyone was aware of this, should they decide not to return for the pickup, the voices of opposition would be much reduced.
When Fabian and his group first followed Robinson William as they left, they were puzzled as to why William didn’t issue a gag order to the others as he had when they first boarded the plane, but by the time they reached the Conference Room, they had already figured out the reason and so their expressions turned somewhat awkward.
A somewhat silent group entered the Conference Room, and William took the initiative to close the door before he directly began, "I presume you are all aware that the reason we left in a hurry was actually to verify the stories that Madeline told during the meeting."
"The five Awakeners who just disembarked from the plane, you must have already taken a good look at their faces. If you don’t believe what I am about to tell you, after the meeting ends, you can find them one by one for verification," he continued.
Having said this, William walked over to the mobile blackboard in the Conference Room and casually attached the papers documenting the five Awakeners against it.
Though the handwriting on the papers wasn’t large, everyone present were Martial Artists, and compared to ordinary people, they all possessed remarkable Cultivation Levels. Given the small size of the Conference Room and their proximity to the blackboard, they could see the written content very clearly.
After they had read everything written on the five sheets of paper, Fabian suddenly addressed Dong Tianyu, "Dong Tianyu, at the last meeting, you said that you’ve escaped from that area before. I’m not interested in how you did it.
But I’d like to ask you to recall whether you felt anything strange in your body while you were in that area, or if you experienced any sensations that were out of the ordinary," Fabian asked.
Dong Tianyu reflected for a moment on the situation at that time and then shook his head, replying, "I didn’t feel anything unusual, it was pretty much the same as in other places."
Upon hearing Dong Tianyu’s response, Fabian immediately followed up, "If you didn’t feel anything special, then why didn’t you use your Pupil Skill to observe your surroundings before, yet resorted to using it after getting trapped in that area?"
Hearing Fabian’s follow-up question, Dong Tianyu casually responded, "I’m not an Awakener, so I don’t have Pupil Skill. My special way of seeing was an ability I obtained accidentally.
"Keeping the special perspective active for a long period is quite draining on me, so when I go out, I’ve become accustomed to activating this special view intermittently, for just a short while to observe my surroundings, and then immediately shutting it off to reduce my own exhaustion," he explained.
Fabian did not show any sign of either belief or skepticism towards Dong Tianyu’s explanation.
Then Master Ye turned to Robinson William and inquired, "Since the Awakeners you took were all able to observe those mirrors that are invisible to the naked eye, as Dong Tianyu mentioned, did you pay attention to how extensive that somewhat eerie area really is?"
Hearing Master Ye’s question, William glanced at Dong Tianyu, and reading the signal from William, Dong Tianyu shrugged helplessly, indicating he didn’t know. After receiving the feedback from Dong Tianyu,
William spoke with some resignation, recounting the plane’s events frankly: "At that time, our focus was on whether the Awakeners with Pupil Skill were telling the truth, as well as the feedback they provided after observing the situation there.
"After confirming the truth of the matter, we immediately decided to rush back to discuss with you all, and we forgot to address that detail," he admitted.
Although Master Ye was somewhat angry and slapped the table, he did not dwell on the matter further.
Yet, it was then that Mr. Thompson suddenly spoke up, "We can set aside other matters for now. Madeline, you should give a call to our folks back home to warn them about what we’ve encountered here.
"If there are Awakeners with Pupil Skill on their ship, that’s good; if not, tell them to stay put and wait for us to go pick them up."
"By no means should we let them sail our way to save time and try to find us. We don’t want them blundering into that area, or things will become troublesome."
Hearing Mr. Thompson’s reminder, Ye Liuyun immediately stood up and left for another room to get the satellite communication device. She wanted to contact her folks back home to advise them it was better to wait in place rather than wander around blindly and risk inadvertently entering that area. If they did and ended up trapped, it would be a real hassle.
The whole situation wasn’t too complicated, and the method of dealing with it seemed relatively straightforward. Although it was unknown if that area would move, since Pupil Skill Awakeners were able to observe it, ensuring that during their voyage someone was always on watch in the observation tower for twenty-four hours would likely suffice.
What they were mainly considering now was the size of the area, how much time they would need to detour around it, and whether they would encounter other issues during the detour.
Before long, Ye Liuyun pushed open the door and entered. Once inside, she announced to everyone, "I’ve just gotten in touch with our folks back home. On their ship, there are also Awakeners with Pupil Skills.
They’re unwilling to stop and wait, so they plan to have those two Awakeners take turns observing from the lookout tower. However, for safety, they’ve decided only to travel during daylight. As soon as it gets dark, they will stop the ship and rest in place."
Hearing Ye Liuyun’s words, most people in the room breathed a sigh of relief, except Zachary, who wasn’t too concerned about the other ship.
At that moment, Zachary was thinking about the time wasted staying on this ship. If he had used this time to scavenge for resources under the sea, he wondered how many useful items he might have found.
With that in mind, Zachary couldn’t sit still any longer. As Master Ye prepared to conclude the meeting, Zachary quickly interrupted, "Since it’s been proven that I haven’t lied and the ship’s Awakeners with Pupil Skills can see the area as well, I won’t stay here any longer if there’s nothing else."
Upon hearing Zachary’s words, Robinson William wanted to ask Zachary to stay on the ship for a few more days, but before he could speak, Fabian interrupted, "You can go, but you can’t take the airplane from our ship."
Hearing Fabian, Ye Liuyun interjected before Zachary could respond, "Our ship only has one helicopter. The small transport plane Zachary used to pick people up was borrowed from someone else; it wasn’t part of our ship’s original equipment.
You can ask anyone on the ship about the origins of the small transport plane and to whom it belongs."
Fabian wasn’t concerned with Ye Liuyun’s words; in fact, as soon as Ye Liuyun had boarded the plane to accompany Robinson William for verification, Fabian and the four others had already started to contact the people sent from their hometown.
Although their purpose wasn’t to fall out with Ye Liuyun, they were also starting to seek some degree of authority on board.
They already knew the plane had been flown in by Zachary, but they absurdly wanted to keep the small transport plane on the ship.
Their motives were twofold: first, to indirectly undermine Ye Liuyun’s prestige on the ship through this issue, and second, they were coveting the small transport plane themselves.
Though the transport didn’t carry many people at once, they had experienced firsthand that this plane had a high cruising range when fueled completely, and it also possessed vertical takeoff and landing capabilities.
The transport might look small, but the wise knew that at a critical time, this small transport plane could be a life-saving vehicle.
Therefore, Fabian deliberately made this remark, seeking to claim the small transport plane for himself.
