Chapter 670: Chapter 457 Return Voyage

At sea, things are different from on land; if you encounter a robbery on land, at least you can abandon your vehicle and run away, but at sea, if you abandon the vehicle you have, it’s a dead end.

Whether on land or at sea, the bigger the vehicle, the less agile it is. On land, a lack of agility might be a disadvantage,

but at sea, if there’s a big size disparity between the two vessels, the battle is bound to be one-sided.

Larger ships can produce waves simply by approaching, which may cause smaller ships to capsize.

This is why, even if a small boat is lucky enough to acquire the corpse of an ancient creature, should this be discovered by larger ships, they don’t need to attack; they can simply charge towards them, and the waves caused by their passage can easily capsize the small boats.

Thus, those ancient creatures and Bug Race corpses floating on the water are not necessarily a blessing for the smaller boats, but can also bring them a disaster.

The large ship that Father Dong and Mother Dong were on hadn’t made such a move, but some survivors who had suffered at the hands of large ships didn’t care that much.

After some lucky souls found a still-functional seaplane, they began to use it to retaliate against these larger ships.

Both the large ship Father Dong and Mother Dong were on and the one prepared in advance by Pengcheng were basically inland ships, and most inland ships’ decks are unsuitable for helicopters to land.

Therefore the large ships that appeared within the Pengcheng area also basically lacked any air power.

Because of natural disasters, there were already few planes in Pengcheng that could take off normally, and the torrential rain before the flood made the planes that were in Pengcheng sink to the bottom of the water.

It actually didn’t matter that nobody had planes, but somehow someone got hold of a seaplane used for sightseeing, though this plane could at most carry ten people and was only capable of short-distance flights.

But now, apart from some Awakeners with special abilities, this plane was one of the very few sources of air power.

Although the plane claimed to be seeking revenge for the small boats’ survivors bullied by those on large ships, it was clear to any discerning person that this wasn’t the main reason.

It’s clear to think about it, when someone has the only strategic weapon, that person’s ambition will inflate without limit, now we speak nicely of upholding justice and helping the weak seek revenge.

But remember, the dragon-slayer will eventually become the dragon, and although that plane has only just appeared, many discerning people can foresee the potential future complications.

The reason why the people on the ship became so wary upon seeing Zachary’s arrival was because they had been previously attacked by that seaplane, though it had only threatened them by splashing water, but for safety, the people on board had to compromise.

However, the wise knew that even if you compromise, you need to show your muscle, otherwise the other side might really think you’re a pushover, not only lacking in sympathy but escalating their bullying.

That’s why, when they saw Zachary piloting the plane over, many armed people lined up on deck to welcome him.

With Madeline’s coordination, both sides quickly cleared up the misunderstanding. Since the small transporter could not land on the deck, they had to use the lift to receive people.

Zachary wanted to reduce the distance between the small transporter and the ship’s deck as much as possible, but when the plane was lowered to a certain height, the wind resistance from the propellers on both wings caused the ship below to tilt.

Upon noticing this, Zachary immediately increased the flight altitude of the small transporter. Eventually, after testing, he maintained a position about ten meters above the deck.

The entire process of receiving people went without any incidents. Zachary’s parents first went through the transporter’s side door via the lift, followed by Madeline’s parents and her brother’s family. Then, five more individuals made their way into the cabin along the lift.

After picking up everyone, Zachary turned the aircraft around and set course back home. On the return trip, Zachary once again entered the area where the Mirror Space anomaly had occurred.

This time, Zachary had his Divine Sense deployed, so he didn’t blindly enter this mysterious area as before, but used his Divine Sense for navigation, opting to take a longer detour to avoid that zone.

While detouring, the ship that had previously been trapped in Mirror Space, running around like a chicken with its head cut off, was now quietly stationary on the water’s surface—whether they stopped to save fuel or because they noticed something abnormal about their surroundings remained unknown.

Regardless, unless they could see the invisible Mirror with various methods like Zachary, he reckoned it would be difficult for them to escape from that area.

Since there were other strangers on the plane, Zachary merely greeted the people he knew before staying in the cockpit to focus on piloting.

Meanwhile, the people in the cabin had no desire to chat and sat quietly in their seats, resting with their eyes closed.

As they were traveling at full speed, the return journey took nearly a third less time than the outbound trip. When Madeline observed through the ship’s locator that Zachary was about to return, she immediately went up on deck to prepare to welcome the others’ arrival.
