Chapter 648: Chapter 446: Testing Before the Portal
Looking at the paltry gains he had obtained after the disassembly, Dong Tianyu frowned, somewhat displeased. He knew that during the previous two disasters, whether it was the Bug Race or the Undead, disassembling them had yielded some ’nourishment’ that could enhance the progress of Cave’s upgrades. However, this round of disaster brought the Mechanoids, which after being disassembled, only left behind some worthless scrap metal, hardly of any use to him.
While Dong Tianyu was in the Cave, studying these mechanical creatures, an investigation team dispatched by the Officials also arrived. Like him, upon discovering the mechanical beings, they had tried every means possible to capture one alive to dissect it right away.
Unlike Dong Tianyu, who didn’t have much understanding of electronic components, there was a professional communications soldier in the team. After dissecting the mechanical creature they had caught, he immediately noticed that some of the electronic components were different from those produced by different nations of Blue Star before the disaster.
After his testing, these electronic components from the mechanical life forms all had strong compatibility, meaning many specialized components that could not be produced due to a lack of equipment could now be directly obtained from these mechanoids.
When he dismantled a complete mechanoid corpse into piles of electronic components, everyone in the team looked at him strangely. Perhaps sensing what his teammates were thinking through their glances, he said somewhat speechlessly to the others, "Haven’t you ever been to a market and seen butchers disassembling half a pig?"
"Why are you looking at me like I’m crazy? I have a bit of OCD. Can’t I just sort these dismantled electronic components by their use?"
Hearing the communications soldier’s words, the others fell into a silent, not knowing how to respond. After a while, one teammate finally said, "It’s not that we haven’t seen butchers disassembling pork in the market, but we’ve never seen them wipe every part down with a cloth as they go, drooling so much that it almost drips onto the floor."
Upon hearing this, the communications soldier immediately wiped his mouth, and upon finding no drool, he realized he had been played by his teammate.
However, he wasn’t too angry at the moment, as the rest of his teammates, just like him, were amused by their own subconscious reactions, and burst into laughter.
As the laughter died down, he spoke seriously, "Do you know what I found after dissecting this thing?"
Hearing the communications soldier speak like this, someone, a bit irritated by his teasing, responded tersly, "If you have something to say, say it. Don’t beat around the bush. Otherwise, come the next training session, I might just volunteer to pair up with you."
At this, the communications soldier immediately got goosebumps. It wasn’t his fault really; after all, as a communications soldier, it was understandable if his physical training was somewhat lacking compared to other troops. That’s why he and a few others were considered ’easy targets’ in physical training exercises.
"Brother, I’ll call you brother, okay? Jokes aside, don’t joke about physical training,"
Seeing the other person approaching, the communications soldier quickly said, "All right, all right, I’ll talk, I’ll talk.
You’ve all been eyeing that armed helicopter in the warehouse, haven’t you? Didn’t they say whoever can fix it can have it? To tell the truth, there’s actually nothing wrong with the helicopter except for its electronic components. To be frank, I have attempted to fix it before.
You should know, I’ve sent multiple requests to the higher-ups but they were never approved. I’m confident I can get the helicopter flying again if there are no problems with the parts.
The reason it hasn’t been fixed is simply that one can’t make bricks without straw. There were no spare parts to replace the faulty ones, but look at all those components." He finished, gesturing with his eyes towards the neatly-arranged piles of electronic components that he had taken from the mechanoid corpse.
Upon hearing the communications soldier’s words, his teammates asked in surprise, "Can these electronic components you’ve taken out really fix that helicopter?"
Facing his teammates’ skepticism, the communications soldier nodded earnestly, "Yes, with enough materials, I guarantee that I could fix that helicopter. It just requires a large number of electronic components; hence, what I’ve taken from this single mechanoid isn’t enough. We’ll need to harvest components from many more mechanoids."
Excited by his declaration, the team members all spoke up, "What are we waiting for then? Let’s get to work!"
The communications soldier carefully packed the useful parts into his bag and tossed the remaining pieces onto the ground, leaving nature to take its course.
Dong Tianyu was unaware that those mechanical beings, which were of no use to him, turned out to be of vital importance for China.
As more people discovered that the electronic devices, previously damaged by electromagnetic pulses, could have their components replaced with parts harvested from the mechanoids,
Hunting Teams that were about to dissolve found a new lease on life, with countless individuals venturing into the forests to hunt these mechanical creatures. Some teams even planned to station themselves near the portals, lying in wait for their prey.
