Chapter 640: Chapter 442: Aerial Vehicles

Despite his opposition, Dong Tianyu ultimately deferred to his parents’ wishes. He had the capability to force his parents to move to Kyoto, but doing so would have been less convenient than just sending them into the Cave.

In the end, Dong Tianyu only left a portable inflatable kayak at home, which was the size of a suitcase when compressed. To use it, one simply had to activate the switch, and it would inflate automatically without the need for mouth-blowing.

Dong Tianyu didn’t leave much in the way of food supplies because the skeletons in Pengcheng had been swallowed by the giant tree within the city. As a result, the plantations in the suburbs of Pengcheng and Saxon County remained intact.

Because of this, Pengcheng and Saxon County didn’t face the food shortages that other cities were experiencing.

Still, Pengville Port and Saxon County Camp began to lay bricks, as nobody knew whether they would have the chance to farm again after the next natural disaster struck.

After much persuasion and seeing that his parents remained firm in their stance, Dong Tianyu eventually gave up and reluctantly boarded the return flight.

Sitting on the plane, Dong Tianyu thought about himself again; he had suitable vehicles for land and water, but he lacked one for the air. It was time to get a flying vehicle.

For Dong Tianyu, there were two directions for aircraft. One was to build a modern plane, ensuring that it could refuel from inside the cabin.

What Dong Tianyu didn’t know was that airplanes used specialized aviation fuel, not the gasoline or diesel stored at gas stations. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

Although Dong Tianyu had plenty of fuel inside the Cave, it couldn’t be used directly in the plane’s gas tank. So if he chose a modern airplane, he might find himself without usable fuel.

It’s worth noting that the fuel Dong Tianyu obtained from gas stations and storage depots consisted of various types of gasoline and diesel used in regular stations.

The crude oil he inadvertently obtained from Pengville Port was buried in the earth’s veins. To Dong Tianyu’s surprise, this crude oil was also considered a type of mineral by the veins, so it grew annually along with other minerals and its quality improved.

Even if the fuel issue was resolved, the problems of piloting and maintenance awaited Dong Tianyu, so he abandoned the idea of a modern plane.

In the end, Dong Tianyu could only forge Magic Artifacts or Magical Weapons that looked similar to the Black Car and Wave Rider.

Of course, it was unrealistic for Dong Tianyu to forge from scratch. The most practical method was to bring a plane into the Cave, spend Survival Points to modify it, turning it into a Magic Artifact, and finally inscribing the necessary Formations himself.

Actually, this method was somewhat troublesome. The simplest way was to inscribe a Levitation Formation on the Wave Rider, granting it the ability to fly directly.

In the Cultivation world, this would have been fine, but on Blue Star, that era had not yet arrived. After all, Dong Tianyu still had to live in the city, and being too conspicuous could lead to unnecessary troubles.

Of all vehicles, Dong Tianyu least liked airplanes because, unlike cars and boats that can simply park somewhere when not powered, planes require constant vigilance from the pilot once in the air to prevent unpredictable issues.

Yet, even though Dong Tianyu disliked them, he could not deny the convenience of flying vehicles. After much consideration, he decided not to make a ’big guy’ capable of housing people like the land and sea vehicles, but instead, to make a flying vehicle designed for speed, with passenger accommodation being secondary.

Sitting on the return flight, Dong Tianyu took the opportunity to list the requirements for forging a flying vehicle.

1. It must have the ability to take off and land vertically.

2. It needs extreme flight speed.

3. The hull must have strong defensive capabilities.

4. A passenger capacity of about ten people would suffice.

5. Having invisibility capability would be ideal.

While there were other various requirements, Dong Tianyu listed them from most to least necessary according to what he needed the most.

Aside from helicopters, most aircraft usually require a long runway to take off, but during times of disaster, suitable locations in the wild are rare outside of dedicated airports.

Therefore, the ability to take off vertically will determine the practicality of the flying vehicle. If choosing the technological route, vertical takeoff is a difficult feat, except for helicopters.

On the mystical side, solving the vertical takeoff issue was very simple and didn’t need special consideration, as activating a Levitation Formation or a counter-gravity Array would result in the plane rising or descending vertically.

Next, there was no need to worry much about flight speed; acceleration Arrays such as the Breaking Sky or Shifting Array were plentiful in complexity and variety.

The issue of aircraft durability didn’t need mention, as this was a common concern for all vehicles, one that Dong Tianyu had already addressed.

The capacity was not really a limitation for Dong Tianyu. Whether it was for five people, ten, or even dozens to hundreds, it wasn’t too difficult for him; it was just a matter of choosing the size of the plane to modify.
