Chapter 636: Chapter 440 Two Types of Watermelon

Hearing Franklin’s words, Madeline also felt somewhat astonished. Considering her original friendship with Zachary, it wasn’t just about eating some watermelon—she could have outright asked Zachary for a few and probably wouldn’t have worn this kind of expression.

At this point, Madeline also realized that her once close relationship with Zachary had somehow become much more distant, not because Zachary’s attitude towards her had changed, but because there was a change in Madeline’s own heart.

After leaving the teahouse, Zachary took out two watermelons from the storage space, one grown in the Cave’s plantation and the other plucked from the Hundred Fruits Tree.

Because the concentration of Spirit Power in the Cave was quite high, even the watermelons harvested from the plantation were not small in size. However, the watermelons from the Hundred Fruits Tree retained their original size, which, although not small, was still a size smaller compared to those from the plantation.

Zachary didn’t cut open the watermelons but carried one in each hand directly into the teahouse.

Seeing Zachary holding a watermelon in each hand, Madeline and Franklin immediately stood up and jogged over to Zachary’s side. They then carefully took the watermelons from Zachary’s hands and gently placed them on the tea table.

Watching their cautious movements, Zachary burst out laughing, "What are you doing? It’s just watermelon in your hands, not glass balls that will shatter upon touch.

Just put them down on the table; there’s no need to be so gentle, as long as you don’t smash them, these watermelons won’t go bad. They’re not as delicate as you think."

Although they heard what Zachary said, they still carefully and gently placed the watermelons on the table, then unconsciously tapped them lightly.

Hearing the ’dong~ dong~ dong~’ sound, they suddenly came back to their senses and quickly checked the spots on the watermelons they had just tapped to see if any cracks had formed.

Standing nearby, Zachary was at a loss whether to laugh or cry at the two’s current actions. He casually took out a fruit knife, nudged Madeline aside, pushed the knife into the watermelon to create an opening, and then forcefully split the watermelon into two halves with his hands from the incision.

After Zachary had split the watermelon in two, a burst of the watermelon’s sweet aroma rushed into their nostrils, causing all three of them to salivate uncontrollably.

Then, while the other two were still intoxicated with the sweet fragrance, Zachary repeated his earlier action and split the watermelon that Franklin had placed on the table into two halves.

Seeing Zachary open another watermelon, Madeline said with some regret, "Why did you open both watermelons? These two are not small; the three of us could have just eaten one. Although we could finish both, isn’t it a bit wasteful to open two?"

Hearing what Madeline said, Zachary rolled his eyes and replied, "Didn’t I tell you earlier? You guys wanted to buy watermelons, but I have two types of watermelons here, so I brought both over for you to try and see which one you prefer."

At Zachary’s words, Madeline finally came back to her senses, recalling that she had been too excited to see watermelons after such a long time and had momentarily forgotten Zachary’s earlier words.

Seeing Madeline no longer speaking, Zachary continued to cut the watermelon. Now that the watermelons were opened, he generously cut both of them up entirely and arranged them at both ends of the tea table.

After all the watermelon was cut, Zachary wiped his hands, which were covered with watermelon juice, with the cloth used to clean the tea table. He then invited the two, "Come on, try the taste of these two kinds of watermelons."

In fact, while Zachary was cutting the watermelons, both of them were finding it hard to resist reaching out for a piece to taste, but the etiquette they had once learned continuously reminded them in their minds that such an act would be quite rude.

The instinctive desire of the body and the constraints of moral and ethical etiquettes were clashing fiercely in their minds.

As the two thoughts struggled in their minds, they suddenly heard Zachary say, "I’ve already cut the watermelons, so you should hurry up and try the taste of these two kinds."

Revived by Zachary’s invitation, both of them instantly shook off the random thoughts swirling in their minds and picked up the watermelon in front of them. They took a modest bite and savored the flavor of the watermelon.

Seeing their pecking-like eating method, Zachary immediately showed an incredulous expression on his face, then picked up a slice of watermelon from the table and stuffed it into his mouth in a few bites.

While eating, he said to them, "Now that both watermelons are cut, they can’t be kept for long, so I suggest we three just finish them all off.

Although I don’t know if you two will be able to satisfy your craving for watermelon, I think it should be enough. Let me make it clear, first come first served, no complaints about eating less or others eating more once the watermelon is finished. Eat as much as you can, just don’t waste."

Hearing Zachary speak, Franklin and Madeline were taken aback for a moment, then abandoned their pecking eating method. They began devouring the watermelon in just a few bites, rind and all, as if it were a triangular piece.
