Chapter 547: Chapter 397 The Attack on Kyoto

"How long are we actually going to stay in this place?"

Hearing Yara say this, Dong Tianyu, lying on the bed without raising his head and half-asleep, replied, "Can’t you take a break? What’s the use of being anxious? Just stay here honestly for these few days. You’re not lacking food, and you’re not lacking drink.

When you first mentioned reporting this incident, I had already warned you, but you still insisted on reporting it on your own, so this outcome isn’t unexpected. After all, the matter is serious. Before an investigation clears things up, it’s normal not to let us out. Just stay put."

Several days had passed since the two went to the interrogation room. When it was confirmed that the Bug Race could control humans by parasitizing their spines, White Horse made several phone calls, and then the two were brought to this hotel.

From then on, although the two weren’t completely imprisoned, their movements were confined within this hotel. Upon entering, they were ordered to keep a tight lip about the incident, prohibited from discussing it with anyone. If they were found to be spreading word, their movements would be confined to their room.

The hotel wasn’t crowded with people, and through observation, Dong Tianyu guessed that the other people in the hotel, like them, had been exposed to some time-sensitive, confidential matters and were brought here for quarantine. Once the matter requiring their silence was over, they would be able to leave the hotel.

Though they were living in a hotel, the environment was very good. The apartment they stayed in had two bedrooms and a living room, and each bedroom had its own bathroom. The living conditions were quite decent.

Moreover, the three meals provided daily, although not a mix of meat and vegetables, had a clear emphasis on finer food. To be honest, the living conditions here were even better than those of the ordinary survivors.

Although Dong Tianyu had the patience to stay, Yara’s temperament became somewhat volatile after only two days. As the days went by, Yara would make a scene in Dong Tianyu’s room every day. Initially, Dong Tianyu patiently tried to reason with him, but over time, he got used to it and stopped paying attention.

A few more days passed, and White Horse personally came to the hotel and to their room. With a smiling face, he said to them, "The matter has been resolved. I came here specifically to take you two away from here. Both of you have made a meritorious report and will receive corresponding rewards after some time."

Although White Horse said this, having been confined for such a long time, Yara naturally did not have a pleasant expression when facing him. Seeing this, Dong Tianyu had to make a few polite exchanges with White Horse.

White Horse’s so-called "personal reception" was actually just escorting them from the room and out of the hotel. After the three walked out, White Horse arranged a car to send them home.

Watching the car growing more distant, White Horse maintained his polite smile, but his eyes, fixed on the vehicle, were incessantly flickering.

Although the two had been forced to live together, after so many days, they had nothing left to talk about. After bidding farewell to each other, they went their separate ways and headed home.

Back in his own room, Dong Tianyu lay straight down on the sofa. This experience had given him a rough understanding of the situation in Kyoto.

While Dong Tianyu had obediently stayed in the hotel for quarantine, the hotel they resided in was actually very close to an Imperial Guards training camp.

So, oftentimes, even when Dong Tianyu was lying in bed, he would use Divine Sense to observe what was happening over there.

From the movements of the Imperial Guards, it seemed that things in Kyoto hadn’t been peaceful lately. It makes sense because it was discovered that many people were parasitized by the leaders of the Bug Race. The high rate of parasitism almost certainly indicated that high-level individuals were involved. Otherwise, the Bug Race’s invasion alone could not have resulted in so many parasitized individuals.

However, these issues were no longer of major concern to Dong Tianyu. If this matter had not been noticed by humans, then once the parasitized individuals reached a certain number and those controlled by the Bug Race became the majority, solving the Bug Race’s problem would not be as simple as cutting off a limb to save the body.

Lying on the couch, Dong Tianyu suddenly thought about the deal he had agreed upon with Yara before the quarantine. He wondered if it would continue, given that selling items piecemeal was easy, but offloading large quantities would likely require discounting even the good items to make a sale.

But having just come back from the hotel, it was not the right time to go and ask Yara about this issue, so Dong Tianyu decided to put it aside for now.

During the quarantine in the hotel, although Dong Tianyu and Yara lived in separate rooms, Dong Tianyu, besides his regular daily practice, didn’t spend much time in the Cave, largely staying away from that place. Now that he was back with nobody looking for him just yet, he directly entered the Cave, checking the current development within.
