Chapter 531: Chapter 389: Transaction

Although Yara gave Dong Tianyu various reasons, Dong Tianyu was clear in his mind that those were not the main reasons. For second-generation newcomers like Yara, the main reason they were unwilling to join existing legions was that, even if they became captains or centurions, it would be very difficult to rally the soldiers under their command.

What they wanted upon joining a legion was a troop that would absolutely obey their commands, not soldiers who would only superficially obey while actually remaining beyond their control.

The newly established legion this time, however, was different from the existing ones; all its members were newcomers. Such a brand-new team would be easier to control.

Or rather, according to the new rules, it was akin to the armies of old Chiang Kai-shek during the resistance period, where the rank you were awarded depended on how many soldiers you could recruit.

The so-called challenges skipping ranks were actually not important. It is to be known that large legions are not like small micro units. The larger the army, the less individual combat prowess matters; what’s most important is how many people will obey your commands.

After Yara’s repeated invitations, Dong Tianyu thought it over and ultimately declined them.

In response to Dong Tianyu’s rejection, Yara and the others seemed to have anticipated it, so they were not upset. Upon hearing Dong Tianyu decline to join their team, they smoothly transitioned to inviting Dong Tianyu to create his own team and asked if he would like his team to join their alliance.

When faced with Yara’s renewed invitation, Dong Tianyu hesitated for a moment before declining once more, "I’m sorry, I might disappoint you, but I’m not planning to join any legion, so there’s no need to discuss forming an alliance anymore."

When Dong Tianyu refused, the three were quite surprised. After all, even though the new legion set up by Kyoto was newly established and was not intended to be entirely controlled, the treatment it offered was not at all inferior,

Although joining would come with some restrictions, for capable teams, the prospect of becoming a regular force was already very attractive, coupled with benefits and treatment similar to other legions. These conditions together made it difficult for someone to refuse to join, like Dong Tianyu did.

Therefore, the three found it particularly surprising when Dong Tianyu clearly expressed his disinterest in the newly to-be-created legion.

After confirming several times that Dong Tianyu had no interest in joining Kyoto’s newly established legion, they lost their enthusiasm to continue the conversation and stood up, ready to take their leave.

But Dong Tianyu seemed to discern their intention to leave and, before they could stand up, he said, "This is a good opportunity, I have a business matter I’d like to discuss with you. I wonder if you’re interested."

Upon hearing Dong Tianyu say this, the three immediately dismissed the idea of leaving. Yara directly asked Dong Tianyu, "Let’s hear it."

"You’ve seen the fruits, vegetables, and livestock we had at the gathering. I have channels to get a lot of things, not just fruits, vegetables, and poultry, but also tobacco, alcohol, beverages, and some daily necessities."

Hearing this, the trio’s eyes lit up. The items Dong Tianyu mentioned were not necessarily very precious, but they were goods that were easy to sell.

However, they also understood that if Dong Tianyu was offering to trade such desirable items with them, then what he wanted must be rare and hard to come by; otherwise, there would be no need for him to find them specifically—the items could be sold to others at a higher price.

With this in mind, the three’s initial excitement quickly subsided, and a calmer Yara asked Dong Tianyu, "How much can you get? If it’s not a lot, you could sell it all easily by setting up a stall somewhere.

The items you mentioned are in high demand and sell very well. In any market, as long as your price isn’t too extortionate, you would be able to sell them quite easily." After hearing Yara’s words, Dong Tianyu just smiled and did not respond.

Seeing that Dong Tianyu was unconcerned with what he had just said, Yara realized that Dong Tianyu must have a substantial amount of those daily goods, which is why his previously placated emotions flared up again.

Even though he was excited at the moment, Yara did not immediately agree; he asked Dong Tianyu with caution, "What do you want to buy? With your strength, you shouldn’t be lacking money.

If you’re not lacking money and still seek a partnership with us, that means what you want must be troublesome. Never mind, I won’t guess anymore, just tell us straight."

Hearing Yara’s lengthy analysis only to end up asking Dong Tianyu to explain anyway, Gordon and Franklin on either side of Yara couldn’t help rolling their eyes.

"Rest assured, what I want is only a bit troublesome for you and won’t feel too demanding," Dong Tianyu reassured.

Hearing Dong Tianyu’s words, not only Yara but also Gordon and Franklin’s curiosity was piqued by what Dong Tianyu had just said.

Seeing that he had successfully stirred their interest, Dong Tianyu went straight to the point, "I need some mineral deposits containing spiritual essence and the complete bodies of powerful mutant plants. Of course, I’m also interested in collectible oddities, and I’m willing to pay 10% more than the going rate."

After hearing Dong Tianyu’s requirements, the trio sighed in relief. They had initially thought Dong Tianyu would make an exorbitant demand, but after he explained his needs, it seemed instead that Dong Tianyu might be offering them a temporary concession in benefits, possibly because of his earlier consecutive refusals.
