Chapter 524: Chapter 385: Coming to a Halt_2

Mekhi’s reminder quickly brought Yara back to her senses. Upon seeing the Simon brothers closing in from behind, she immediately said to the three Awakeners beside her, "Follow me."

Then, the four of them began to run forward quickly. Occasionally, they encountered some Soldier Bugs that had been lucky enough to avoid the Sword Qi. Yara, as if to vent her frustration, rushed over and killed them in just a few moves.

Seeing Yara’s actions, the three Awakeners exchanged somewhat speechless glances. In such a situation, it was far more efficient to use firearms against the one or two bugs that had slipped through the net than Yara’s venting-style attack. But since Yara was the boss, they could only silently follow behind her.

Perhaps because of Yara’s venting along the way, the four of them never caught up with Dong Tianyu, who was trailblazing ahead.

Only after Yara had fully vented her frustrations and started to encounter the scattered Soldier Bugs did she began to finish them off with the firearms in her hands.

Seeing that Yara’s mood had returned to normal, the three Awakeners also tacitly picked up their firearms and helped to finish off the remaining bugs.

In reality, those few bugs that had escaped didn’t have much impact on them, but they were worried that if the Simon brothers, who were covering the rear, ignored them, those escaped bugs might interfere with the brothers’ retreat.

As the four of them quickened their pace, they finally saw Dong Tianyu’s figure, who was clearing the path ahead.

At that moment, because of the appearance of the Flame Bug, Dong Tianyu’s previously unstoppable momentum was momentarily eased.

Watching Dong Tianyu’s footsteps gradually slow down, Yara and the three Awakeners’ faces grew somewhat ugly.

They were clear that at this moment, they were caught in a pincer attack by the Bug Race, like ancient cavalry charging into an enemy camp. As long as they maintained high-speed movement, they wouldn’t face much danger.

But once the speed of the charge slowed, and they were surrounded by the enemy, the only outcome waiting for them would be death.

Just like the cavalry charge, if Dong Tianyu at the front couldn’t quickly break through the encirclement, and the Simon brothers at the rear caught up with them, then they, caught in the encirclement, would only have one inevitable outcome.

Just when Yara was about to step forward to help Dong Tianyu, the Flame Bug finally ceased its fiery breath. Dong Tianyu leapt onto the head of the Flame Bug, and the length of the Sword Qi covering his Longsword suddenly surged.

When Dong Tianyu jumped down from the head of the Flame Bug, the slender Sword Qi drew a full circle like the arc of the moon.

As Dong Tianyu landed, the head of the Flame Bug separated from its neck and crashed heavily to the ground.

With the head of the Flame Bug falling, its limbs suddenly went limp, and then its body heavily slammed into the ground.

Watching the bug’s body fall and raise a cloud of dust, which was blocked by the invisible Qi surrounding Dong Tianyu, Yara and the three Awakeners suddenly became excited.

Dong Tianyu glanced at the four people standing not far away, made a head gesture to signal them to follow, and then continued to rush forward.

Seeing the scene of Sword Qi scattering once again ahead, Yara and the three Awakeners immediately picked up their firearms and began to finish off those Soldier Bugs that had luckily escaped injury from the Sword Qi.

With Dong Tianyu crazily clearing the path ahead, Yara and the three Awakeners followed in the middle dealing finishing blows, while the six Simon brothers fought and retreated to cover their rear. After an indeterminate amount of time, they finally saw a glimmer of light ahead. Everyone knew they were nearing the cave entrance.

When it was unmistakably clear that the exit was near, everyone’s spirits were instantly lifted. Their bodies, which had been somewhat fatigued, were suddenly filled with a burst of energy, propelling them to accelerate their pace.

As soon as Dong Tianyu emerged from the burrow and saw the surroundings, he stood stunned outside the entrance.

Seeing Dong Tianyu stop at the entrance of the cave, Yara and three other Awakeners thought he was waiting for them to come over. But when they reached the entrance and saw the scene outside, the four of them, just like Dong Tianyu, stood motionless at the border between the cave and the outside world.

The six brothers of the Simon Family, who were responsible for covering the rear, looked at the people in front clearing the way and standing unmoving at the mouth of the cave. They were initially moved, thinking they were waiting for the six brothers.

But as they approached and saw the five people still in the same spot, turned away from them, they immediately sensed something unusual.

Wanting to get closer and ask for clarity, but seeing more and more Soldier Bugs approaching from behind, the eldest of the Simon Family could only helplessly shout, "What are you doing blocking the entrance? The Soldier Bugs have caught up, hurry up and leave the entrance."

The voice of the eldest Simon brother from behind woke up the few who were frozen in place. After looking at the situation behind them, Yara decisively said, "Zachary, clear the area, then have Xzavier blockade the entrance."

Hearing Yara’s command, Dong Tianyu immediately turned and entered the cave, while Xzavier also began to gather his strength in preparation.

When Dong Tianyu passed by the Simon brothers, approaching the chasing Soldier Bugs behind them, the Simon brothers didn’t say anything. After all, they had heard what Yara had just said.

Since the young clan leader had spoken, they were certainly not going to argue. However, they still kept an eye on Dong Tianyu, ready to extend a helping hand if something unexpected occurred, as long as they could ensure their own safety.

But when they saw Dong Tianyu swinging his Longsword, releasing waves of Sword Qi, they were just as astonished as Yara had been when she first witnessed the scene.

With the ravaging Sword Qi, the Soldier Bugs chasing them were annihilated in an instant. The intimidation of the bugs behind them prevented them from daring to approach for a short time. Dong Tianyu, together with the Simon brothers, then moved toward the vicinity of the entrance.

As the rearguard approached the entrance, Xzavier had finished gathering his energy. Suddenly, an invisible wall of air blocked the passageway behind them, preventing the pursuers from getting close.

Now at the entrance, the Simon brothers were puzzled that the group wasn’t leaving but rather staying in place. Just as the eldest was about to approach Yara to ask why, he inadvertently saw the scene outside and froze where he stood.

Seeing the eldest Simon brother motionless, the second one walked up behind him, patted his shoulder, and was just about to speak, "What’s going on, why aren’t you moving?" when he too saw the scene outside and was likewise rooted to the spot.

Like dominoes, one Simon brother after the other froze in place, until eventually, everyone calmed down and sat on the ground circled up, indifferent to the Soldier Bugs that kept attacking the air wall. The atmosphere was somewhat somber.

"Can we still go back?" Mekhi inquired.

Yara sighed helplessly in response, "We should be fine. We’re not far from Kyoto, and they must be aware of the situation outside. Kyoto won’t let a threat this close linger; they will surely find a way to deal with it."

Yet, as much as Yara said this, she spoke without any real confidence.

At that moment, the fourth Simon brother suddenly spoke, somewhat undercutting the mood, "Kyoto will definitely not ignore the situation here, but I’m afraid Kyoto might not send troops to clean it up. Instead, they could send over a nuclear peacemaker."

"What the outcome will be for the outside, I can’t say, but for the few of us..." he trailed off, leaving the thought hanging.

"We take a gamble, break through," the third Simon brother said succinctly. The others were somewhat intrigued by the idea, but the thought of the scene outside immediately drained any budding courage.

The atmosphere fell silent once again, and only the sound of Soldier Bugs relentlessly attacking the air wall could be heard in the cave.

Just when everyone was becoming somewhat despondent, a series of roaring sounds suddenly entered into everyone’s ears from outside.
