Chapter 1392: Chapter 723: She Takes Action

Zhou Yun didn’t know whether the three of them had gone out drinking; after replying to the message, she immediately turned off the light and went to sleep.

With all the traveling, she was really quite tired.

Who would have thought that night, the three of them would get into trouble.

In the middle of the night, Zhou Yun received a phone call from Zhou Lan.

"Xiao Yun, are you with He Xuran and the others?"

Feeling completely bewildered, having just been awakened from a deep sleep, Zhou Yun had no idea what had happened. She replied with a puzzled expression, "No, why? I was sleeping."

Zhou Lan breathed a long sigh of relief.

"I was scared to death."

"What’s the matter? What happened?" Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan: "He Xuran and a few others were drinking at a bar, took a photo with a man named Otis, and posted it online. As it turns out, this Otis is an extreme fascist who is anti-Semitic. Now, He Xuran and the others are being heavily criticized, both abroad and at home. The photo only shows the three of them; you’re not in it, but someone has said you’re the one who took the photo. Everyone knows you were supposed to be with them. I guessed you wouldn’t join them for drinks, but I wanted to call to confirm just in case."

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yun was shocked.

She asked, "So what are they going to do now?"

Zhou Lan: "I don’t know yet. I just saw the news and wanted to confirm immediately whether you were there or not. Anyway, no matter how things go with the three of them, you should stay out of this, got it?"

Zhou Yun responded affirmatively.

The sleepiness had completely left her.

Zhou Lan clicked her tongue twice, evidently relieved now, and prepared to start teasing those three.

She said, "Imagine them daring to casually take photos with people abroad."

"Sigh, they probably didn’t know who this Otis was when posing for the photo," Zhou Yun said.

"It’s precisely because you don’t know that you shouldn’t casually take photos," Zhou Lan said. "Of course, I admit, before taking a photo, we can’t delve deep into every person’s background, but three young celebrity artists going to a bar abroad, taking a photo with someone like this at the bar, and then posting it on social media... honestly, while it’s hard to say it’s entirely their fault, facing such public opinion, they deserved it. They should just apologize and admit their mistake."

Zhou Yun: "What time is it now? It’s still dark here, and there’s a screening event tomorrow afternoon."

Zhou Lan said: "It’s okay, go back to sleep. As long as this has nothing to do with you, it’s fine. I was just worried it might be connected to you and become a convoluted mess."

Zhou Yun hung up the phone, closed her eyes, yet found she couldn’t sleep, worrying over this matter.

She picked up her phone and searched for He Xuran and their names.

Sure enough, all discussions were about this incident.

The internet was in an uproar over it.

The opinions basically split into two camps: one that said He Xuran and the others couldn’t have known who this person was, so there’s no need to overreact and criticize them; the other said even if they didn’t know this person’s identity, they should take responsibility for their actions. As public figures, they should act cautiously and responsibly, and taking a photo with such a person should result in bearing the consequences.

It’s always like this.

The internet is perpetually noisy, with all sorts of opinions.

If we were to judge the facts based solely on these online discussions, then nothing could ever be definitively determined.

Zhou Yun checked their four-person group chat. There was no activity, the last message still stopping at He Xuran’s statement, "I’m in the lobby downstairs waiting for you."

Presumably, they met up afterward.

Zhou Yun hesitated for a moment, then actively posted a message in the group: Where are you now?

No one responded in the group.

Zhou Yun thought, they certainly haven’t slept; they’re likely discussing with their management teams how to handle this situation.

Yet, tomorrow they still have to walk the red carpet.

Tomorrow is extremely important for them, as it’s their first time appearing on the red carpet of such a top international film festival. And tonight, they’ve managed to stir up such a mess. Just thinking about it is frustrating enough.

After a while, He Xuran replied in the group: The three of us are together, in my agent’s room, and our agents are having a meeting with people back home.

Zhou Yun thought for a moment and said: Let your team deal with this situation, you guys should get some rest. No matter what, there’s the premiere of our film tomorrow; don’t let yourselves look too worn out.
