Chapter 1388: Chapter 719: Performance (3)
Director Li Lu looked and excitedly clapped his hands, saying, "That’s right, this is what I want."
When Li Lu had some free time, Zhou Yun seriously communicated with Li Lu about her understanding of the play and the character she was portraying.
Li Lu had clearly put a lot of effort into the script as well. He didn’t even need to hold the script, yet he could recite the dialogues precisely, no matter which part Zhou Yun mentioned, even the very detailed scenes.
Zhou Yun wondered if Li Lu had memorized the entire script.
She was profoundly impressed by Li Lu’s dedication.
After trying on costumes, Zhou Yun stayed on set, intending to observe how the filming process unfolded.
Standing aside, Zhou Yun was seen by Li Lu, who immediately asked someone to bring her a chair.
Zhou Yun maintained a distance from the shooting site, avoiding going over in order not to disrupt the people absorbed in their roles.
The scene involved a young couple performing.
They were staff members aboard a ship, dressed in uniforms.
As crucial figures, these two actors provided substantial assistance to Zhou Yun and Song Chi during the ship scenes.
This scene depicted them plotting quietly in a corner after discovering Song Chi’s true identity.
The male actor was Yu Wei, and the female actress was Song Qiqi, neither of whom was particularly well-known; Zhou Yun had never heard of them before.
Yet, upon observing, she found their dialogue delivery was indeed remarkable.
Although the show wasn’t live recording, their dialogues and performances were surprisingly polished, very unlike young actors.
Zhou Yun couldn’t help but feel curious about their backgrounds. Could they have been child stars with extensive filming experience?
She searched them online with her phone and found out that both had previously performed in theater.
No wonder.
Zhou Yun immediately felt relieved.
She had to admit, theater actors truly excel in delivering dialogues.
Zhou Yun realized she wasn’t entirely adept at controlling and crafting her speech.
She relied somewhat on her speaking habits and couldn’t transform her voice into a versatile, emotive tool that could fit any character or mood.
This was her major shortcoming.
Of course, if Zhou Yun hadn’t improved this skill, her current ability would suffice.
She could focus on roles with a strong atmospheric presence rather than those unfamiliar to her.
Still, Zhou Yun wished to further advance her abilities.
After Yu Wei and Song Qiqi wrapped up their scene, Li Lu called for a cut.
One take done.
The next scene was for Song Chi.
While changing the scene and adjusting the lighting, Song Chi emerged from the resting room.
He portrayed a cold and reticent character, keeping him silent even off-camera to immerse himself in the role.
It’s not necessarily the mark of a great actor, as each has their preferred method, and this was Song Chi’s way.
Zhou Yun didn’t approach him, not wanting to interrupt.
Sitting one side, she prepared to closely observe how Song Chi performed.
However, as she waited, Zhou Yun felt disappointed; Song Chi’s scenes ahead were merely ordinary transitional shots.
Despite this, Song Chi didn’t perform absentmindedly; it was just that this scene wasn’t intended for dramatic expression.
He wasn’t the type to showcase an elaborate performance in every scene.
Both he and Zhou Yun were similar, choosing to exert their explosive power at critical moments.
They would peel apart, spread themselves out, to captivate and move the audience.
After Song Chi finished the drinking scene, Zhou Yun went out to find him.
Before she could approach, Zhou Yun saw Song Chi heading towards Li Lu.
The two seemed to be planning something.
Zhou Yun paused her steps.
Suddenly, a voice behind her sounded, "Why are you standing here blocking the way?"
The voice carried a tone of dissatisfaction.
Instinctively, Zhou Yun said, "Sorry."
She stepped aside.
Seeing it was Zhou Yun, the previously discontented person’s expression changed.
"Ah, Sister Xiao Yun, sorry, I didn’t know it was you."
It was Song Qiqi.
Her cheeks showed signs of apology.
Zhou Yun said, "It’s okay, I was indeed in the way."
Song Qiqi awkwardly smiled, unsure of what else to say, then departed.
"Sister Xiao Yun, don’t mind her. She’s just temperamental, always thinks being a theater actor makes her better than other film actors. She doesn’t even look me in the eye," Liu Ziyin said, who had been standing next to Zhou Yun the entire time, witnessing the situation, as soon as Song Qiqi left.
"No problem," Zhou Yun smiled and shook her head, "I just watched her acting—it was impressive."
"It’s just alright," Liu Ziyin said dismissively, clearly biased against Song Qiqi, "Your dialogue delivery is much better than hers, without acting so conceited in the crew."
