Chapter 1021: Chapter 1020: Never Have I Seen Someone So Shameless 1
Qin Siling felt a flutter in her heart; although still uneasy, most of her worries were laid to rest.
At this moment, Chu Huan came over, nagging about something again. Gu Mingzhu, with her notorious temper and high status, looked down on this branch of the Chu family and remarked bluntly: "You have no standing to talk about Si Lan, considering the children you brought up yourself. Besides, you’re already divorced, so stop acting like some bigshot."
Previously, Chu Huan might have cared about what she said, but not anymore. Gu Mingzhu was merely Tang Yuan’s secret outside affair, so he cynically threw some shade at her. Gu Mingzhu instantly felt enraged with tears glittering in her eyes. At this point, Qin Siyuan approached, speaking in a steady voice: "At a time like this, you should reflect instead of quarreling with women. Chu Huan, if you can’t care for Little An, then leave him to my sister."
Chu Huan now shifted to a sneering expression, saying coldly: "Leave him to her? With what, she is just a discarded woman from our Chu family, what does she have now?"
Yet, upon considering the Qin family’s current standing, he fell silent.
Just then, Gu Anxi happened to walk over and overheard his arrogance, responding icily: "Alright then, go find a doctor yourself for the surgery, and let’s see how well you can take care!"
Chu Huan immediately seemed intimidated, "I was only joking; Little Gu wouldn’t take this seriously, right? Aren’t doctors supposed to save lives?"
"Others might, but I won’t." Gu Anxi retorted firmly and then looked at Qin Siling.
In a few short hours, she looked much more haggard, recalling the past when Qin Siling was so successful and content, yet it ended like this.
Gu Anxi wasn’t some saint; she merely disliked men bullying women, especially ones who weren’t impressive at all. She chuckled coldly and entered the operating room.
After a while, a nurse came over, smiling: "Are you Mr. Qin? Professor Bo has arranged a rest room for you. Please follow me."
Qin Siling wasn’t up for it, shaking her head. Qin Siyuan sighed softly: "There’s no use staying here; go rest a bit. We’ll be taking care of Little An tomorrow."
Gu Mingzhu quickly agreed.
The young nurse added: "I’ll notify you if anything comes up. It’s late, I’ll bring you some midnight snacks."
Her voice was sweet: "Miss Qin, no worries at all, Professor Bo and Little Gu together, everything will be alright."
Despite this reassurance, everyone knew if both were involved in surgery, it surely meant serious trouble. Qin Siling’s mind was in turmoil, yet she truly didn’t want to be near Chu Huan—the man who once brought her glory. When the Qin family fell, she saw through his heartless facade.
Thus, everyone retreated to the rest room, a place Bo Xichen rarely used, with spacious sofas and a home cinema setup.
The nurse delivered water and went off to fetch midnight snacks for them.
Once only the three of them remained, Qin Siling spoke: "Siyuan, we’ve really troubled Anxi this time. How come you ended up together at the airport?"
Qin Siyuan smiled faintly: "She happened to be in Qingcheng with Professor Bo, so they came over together."
Qin Siling wasn’t naive; after pondering for a while, she looked at Gu Mingzhu, "She came to see you, probably wanting to witness you getting married."
Gu Mingzhu was puzzled, speaking slowly: "Then why hasn’t she called me at all."
Both Qin Siyuan and Qin Siling remained silent.
So dim-witted.
Sometimes being a bit foolish isn’t such a bad thing.
Gu Mingzhu watched them, asking quietly: "What did I do wrong this time?"
Qin Siyuan reached out to pat her head: "You didn’t do anything wrong. When you see Anxi later, you can ask her personally, hear what she has to say."
She responded with an "Oh," seeming rather dull.
Qin Siyuan chuckled softly, and Qin Siling spoke up: "The sofa here’s quite big; Mingzhu, you’ll be getting married tomorrow. Siyuan, being a man, can manage, but you should lie down and rest. Otherwise, you’ll look bad in your makeup tomorrow."
Originally, she didn’t like Gu Mingzhu at all — her background and temperament were poor, worrying she couldn’t be a good match for Siyuan. Initially, she thought Siyuan was merely settling because he couldn’t have his first choice, but as time went by, she realized it wasn’t so. Siyuan, already a mature man, needed no one to run his household; merely desired a lovable girl. Gu Mingzhu and Gu Anxi were distinct entities beyond their similar appearances. Gu Mingzhu might appear silly, whereas Anxi was astonishingly sharp.
Such silliness might actually suit Siyuan better.
Indeed, Anxi was far better off with Professor Bo, who was stronger and more accommodating to her.
Qin Siling, having spent half a year in a more Buddhist mindset, had come to many realizations, now wanting only the best for Little An.
Later, the young nurse returned, bringing midnight snacks, though they didn’t eat. Gu Mingzhu lay with her head on Qin Siyuan’s lap under a small blanket infused with Gu Anxi’s scent. Sniffing it, she felt like crying but didn’t sleep. She simply leaned there, enduring until half past five in the morning.
Subsequently, a nurse called Qin Siling over as Little An required a blood transfusion.
After drawing a lot of blood, her face turned pale. Director Hao came over, instructing the nurse to administer a bottle of nutrient solution. Qin Siling refused, holding Director Hao’s arm: "How is Little An?"
Committee Hao nodded slightly: "His condition is improving; no worries, with Professor Bo here."
Qin Siling thanked him through tears.
Director Hao hastily left, the operating room’s doors opening and closing again.
Qin Siling didn’t return to the rest room, waiting outside. Nearing seven in the morning, when the door opened, she rose promptly, thinking it was a nurse: "How is Little An?"
But it wasn’t a nurse; it was Chu Huan at the doorway.
He shut the door, walking toward her: "Si Lan, I need to discuss something with you."
