Chapter 1013: Chapter 1012: At This Age, Still So Improper
"What kind of person are you today, being so elusive?" Madam Bo looked at him strangely, then thought for a moment and said, "I did meet someone about Zur-zur, I suppose you already know."
She placed her slender fingers on Nian Yao’s father’s heart and asked, "After all these years as a couple, do you still not trust me?"
Bo Nianyao caught her hand, "How could I not trust you?"
He pondered for a moment before recounting the story.
Madam Bo had been gentle as water, but now that the words were out, she immediately stood up and said, "Bo Nianyao, you’re talking nonsense, aren’t you? I’ve been upright and proper, yet you still doubt me?"
Her presence was overwhelming. Bo Nianyao was suddenly frightened and wanted to plead, "I was just saying it casually, don’t take it seriously. I admire your character greatly."
Madam Bo glared at him, "Where are the photos? Who’s the base person who gave them to you?"
Bo Nianyao coughed softly, "No idea who sent them."
Lin Yun sneered, "Bo Nianyao, are you playing dumb while understanding perfectly well? You’re not going to tell me it wasn’t that charming Mrs. Lu who did this?"
"My lady!" Bo Nianyao continued to beg, "Isn’t this old news already? Besides, I trust you."
Lin Yun remained angry, "You act elusive while claiming to trust me? You could have asked me directly. Also, you knew she did it, but never mentioned a word—what is this if not covering for her? I didn’t point the finger at you, yet you blame me first."
As she fumed, Bo Nianyao chuckled gently, resting his hands behind his head. His voice was soft and tender, "Look at you—so gentle last night, today suddenly like a tigress, making me quite scared."
Madam Bo leaned over and pinched him, "Enough! Do you think I don’t know what’s on your mind?"
Her move stirred Bo Nianyao’s interest. He grabbed her hand and pinned it back, causing her to fall against the sofa’s backrest. Her waist-length black hair spread out, looking beautiful.
Bo Nianyao leaned closer and whispered, "It’s because I care about you, and you know it. Yet, you use that against me, thinking I’m truly afraid of you. I just..."
He didn’t finish, but Madam Bo’s face turned red, and she shoved him away, "You’re too old for this, acting unserious."
After speaking, she went to the bedroom to apply skincare products.
Bo Nianyao laughed, then went over to hug her from behind, "Upset? Isn’t this how normal couples argue and quarrel? We’ve rarely bickered over the years; doesn’t this feel different?"
Lin Yun wanted to scold him, but he held her hand—
Afterwards, there was no time for arguments.
*
The next morning during breakfast, Gu Anxi’s eyes rolled around, watching the elders, and Madam Bo handed her a glass of milk, "Why are you staring at us like that, child? Eat your breakfast properly."
"I think Lin Mommy looks especially beautiful today." Gu Anxi smiled sweetly, then asked Bo Nianyao, "Isn’t she prettier than Mrs. Lu?"
Nian Yao’s father instantly felt a bit discomforted.
Madam Bo was pleased, laughing as she said, "See, kids are considerate. They know right from wrong."
She happily tended to Zuzer, feeling very satisfied. As a woman like herself, with a considerate husband, outstanding son, and a lovely daughter-in-law, life was naturally pleasant and fulfilling—something Mrs. Lu couldn’t compare with.
After breakfast, everyone went to work, leaving Old Master Bo alone, idly playing chess with himself. When Madam Bo came downstairs, he looked up and opened his mouth, "Going out?"
Madam Bo didn’t hide anything, "Just going to meet Nian Yao’s ex-girlfriend."
Old Master Bo suddenly felt uneasy, and after a long pause said, "Wasn’t that a long time ago?"
Madam Bo chuckled, "Yes, long ago, nevertheless, she seems quite unable to forget your son. Wouldn’t it be remiss of me not to respond?"
Old Master Bo pretended to focus on the chess game, deciding not to interfere in this matter.
He couldn’t manage it.
Madam Bo chuckled again and went out.
About an hour later, two noblewomen met in a café.
Madam Bo tossed the stack of photos in front of Lu Xueman. Lu Xueman’s heart skipped a beat as she picked them up, feigning surprise, "Is this you and Lu Ze?"
Madam Bo got straight to the point: "Stop pretending, Xueman, don’t I understand your personality? But what I don’t understand is if you suspected something was going on between me and Lu Ze, why didn’t you show the photos to your husband directly, but secretly mailed them to Nian Yao?"
Lu Xueman’s fingers trembled slightly; she was aware of Lin Yun’s character and the power behind her, yet she tried her best to remain calm, "Nian Yao said it?"
"He hasn’t said it, but I can guess." Madam Bo sneered, "You just want to know what’s between me and Lu Ze! It’s exactly what you saw that day. The Lu family proposed to the Lin family, and I turned them down."
Lu Xueman was shocked.
Lin Yun actually knew she had been eavesdropping.
Madam Bo sneered again, "No one wants to take your husband, Xueman; what you desperately want to hold onto is worthless to me, Lin Yun."
Lu Xueman felt insulted, and after a long pause, she coldly said, "Lu Ze wasn’t inferior to Bo Nianyao back then. Why did you reject him?"
"Not inferior?" Lin Yun softly laughed, "Even now, I could let Nian Yao go with you, but you wouldn’t dare let Lu Ze be with others, right? That’s the difference. Lu Xueman, I don’t look down on background, but I truly look down on you. Being a person means knowing what you can let go. Your hesitation, afraid of others yet unwilling, is really quite despicable. Also, keep an eye on your husband; if lost, don’t blame others. Over the years, women have surrounded him, but I, Lin Yun, won’t ever fancy a man like that."
After speaking, she pulled out five hundred from her wallet, pressed it under the cup, and turned to leave.
Lu Xueman sat there, her face pale as snow.
She recalled the past, remembering when she married Lu Ze, achieving what she wanted. But upon learning of Bo Nianyao and Lin Yun’s wedding, she confronted Lin Yun, saying Bo Nianyao was fond of her. Back then, Lin Yun smiled and replied—
The man Lin Yun likes will end up caring for her alone, leaving no space for anyone else in his heart.
Lu Xueman had doubted it, but today, she believed it.
Ha, her own man had lost his soul.
Lost and devastated, she returned home, dropped her things, and collapsed on the sofa, then went to drink wine, tipsy and dazed.
Lu Ze returned, but she didn’t notice.
The plush carpet dulled the sound of footsteps, until he stood before her and picked up the photos; half-sober from the alcohol, Lu Xueman panicked, "Lu Ze."
