Chapter 49: Training Dimension

Gray stayed mostly inside his private RV area. Every once in a while, he stepped out to continue preparing his deep underground space. He dug out the rooms that would soon hold his advanced AI network. The clock kept ticking, and the thirty hours of waiting passed by in a flash.

When the timer hit zero, Gray opened his system shop. He bought the Training Dimension for 3 Trillion Gold, leaving him with a remaining balance of a little over 100 Billion Gold. Wanting to be safe, Gray decided to test the dimension deep underground since he did not know if it would be a portal or if he would be transported inside instantly.

The moment he activated the ability, a glowing blue gate appeared right in front of him. Gray tested it by putting his hand inside first. Feeling nothing weird, he took a step inside, and the blue portal snapped shut behind him.

Inside, the dimension was a vast void of pure white light. Not even a minute after he stepped in, a massive wave of information flooded his mind. He realized he could change anything he wanted inside. With a single thought, he could make the space look like a forest, an island, or even a city. He could also change the internal gravity to anything he wanted.

Next, he saw a screen listing all available Teachers and Masters. The prices ranged from a few thousand Gold all the way to the trillions. With his 100 billion Gold available, Gray could afford a few good ones for his early development.

Deciding on the best foundation for his body, Gray bought Master Roshi from Dragon Ball.

Gray changed the white void into the Kame House and its small island. Instantly, the space changed. He was now standing on a small island. He felt the breeze on his face, and when he stepped into the ocean, he actually got wet. Gray looked around, feeling a massive wave of excitement. He was a Saiyan on the Kame House island, about to be trained by Master Roshi.

He chose to spawn Master Roshi. Gray watched in great detail as a human shape began to take shape until it completely transformed into the Master Roshi he knew from the show. The old man had the turtle shell on his back, his classic sunglasses, a purple cane, and a Hawaiian shirt.

It was a perfect copy. Gray thought Master Roshi would start training him right away, but he had to actually talk to the projection. Gray stepped forward, introduced himself, and asked to be trained. Master Roshi looked him up and down and gave him a nod.

Master Roshi looked Gray up and down, leaning on his purple cane. "Tell me, boy. Do you have any experience fighting, or do you know any form of martial arts?"

Since Gray wanted to learn everything from the ground up, he instantly used his system menu to sell his pre-existing CQC skills.

"No, I don’t have any experience fighting," Gray answered honestly. "But my body is naturally very strong."

Master Roshi approached and inspected Gray’s body, nodding to himself. He reached behind his back and produced a heavy metal turtle shell. "Put this on. We’ll start with the basics."

Gray put the shell on his shoulders, but thanks to his high-tier physical stats and Minecrafter Physiology, he barely felt its weight.

Seeing Gray moving around with no trouble, Master Roshi adjusted his shades. "Let’s see how you handle a little pressure." With a wave of his hand, he willed the dimension to increase its gravity settings, instantly raising the internal gravity to three times Earth’s normal level.

To Roshi’s surprise, Gray didn’t even struggle. He stood perfectly upright, completely unfazed by the sudden crushing force, and walked around the sandy beach as if the gravity hadn’t changed at all. He completely breezed through the initial check, his video game physics keeping his body perfectly adapted.

"Well, aren’t you a strange one," Roshi muttered. With a quick command, he changed the entire environment. One second they were standing on the island’s sandy shores, and the next, the tropical scenery vanished, replaced by a massive mountain range.

Roshi pointed toward a steep trail leading to the peaks above, and then down toward several glass milk bottles sitting at their feet. "Grab those milk bottles and deliver them by hand to the houses at the top of the mountain. I want to see exactly how much your body can handle before we move on to anything else."

Gray didn’t complain for a single second. "Understood," he said, gripping the crates and immediately getting to it. Even under 3x gravity and carrying the heavy shell, he sprinted up the steep stone stairs. It took him just thirty minutes to deliver every single bottle of milk to the top. When he jogged back down the mountain, Roshi immediately handed him another batch. "Again! No slacking!"

Gray continued running the mountain path a few times. Physically, he wasn’t feeling tired at all... the only thing he felt was a massive wave of hunger.

Watching Gray complete the grueling run without a single drop of sweat, Master Roshi frowned, realizing the training wasn’t actually straining the boy’s body. Gray didn’t want to sell his Minecrafter Physiology because he still needed those powers to build the city in the real world. Luckily, a timely dimension prompt popped up directly in front of his eyes.

[Would you like to temporarily seal your Minecrafter Physiology to achieve better training results?]

[Yes] [No]

Gray instantly pushed the Yes button.

The moment the seal took effect, the absolute safety of his video game physics vanished. The crushing weight of the 3x gravity and the dense metal turtle shell slammed into his core all at once. His legs began shaking violently just from trying to stand upright, and his muscles immediately started to strain under the immense pull.

Gray gripped his knees, his breath catching as he struggled to maintain his balance. Damn... he thought to himself, a grin forming despite the sudden, crushing pressure.

Roshi noticed the change instantly and smirked. "A bit heavier now, isn’t it? Back to the bottom of the mountain! Start the delivery over from the very beginning!"

This time, Gray truly struggled. Without his infinite stamina keeping him fresh, his muscles began to burn, ache, and tire out as he pushed himself up the steep mountain steps under the heavy weight.

Once the grueling milk delivery exercise was finally finished, Master Roshi held up his hand and stopped the training. "Alright, boy. That’s enough for the first half of the day. Time to get some food in you and rest up before we get back at it."

Gray let out a heavy sigh of relief, his stomach roaring loudly. He used his system shop to order a massive mountain of food, massive plates of rice, and trays of cooked meats.

They rested together for a little bit under the shade of a mountain ledge, letting the heavy meal digest. Once the short break was over, Master Roshi stood up and tapped his cane against the ground. "Break time is over, kid! Put the turtle shell back on!"

Gray nodded, and braced himself as the heavy weight of the 3x gravity slammed into his core once again. They got straight back at it, with Roshi pushing his restricted body completely to its limits. For the remaining exercises, Master Roshi made Gray push a massive boulder across the valley, and then plow a giant farming field using nothing but his bare hands. Next, he was put to hard construction labor, spending hours using a standard shovel and pickaxe to dig out rocky trenches without any system assistance.

After that, Gray was made to jump into a deep lake and swim ten full laps while aggressive sharks actively tried to attack and tear into him. Lastly, for the day’s final exercise, Gray was tethered to a tree next to an angry beehive and forced to dodge swarming bees.

Finally, once that nightmare of a routine was done, he was allowed to unpack his gear and rest for the remainder of the day. Gray collapsed onto the grass in total exhaustion, only for Master Roshi to make him wake up and repeat the exact same brutal training schedule the very next morning.

As the weeks passed, Gray got completely used to the brutal routine. Master Roshi kept the exact same schedule for the whole month inside the dimension. Every single day, Gray had to finish the milk delivery before breakfast time. Carrying the heavy boxes around the entire island helped him gain massive strength. Crossing the lake tested his stamina, and climbing the high mountain tested his endurance. He also had to run across a field full of dangerous T-Rexes to test his speed. Finally, walking across a single log bridge tested his balance.

After the milk run, Gray had to complete the rest of the exhausting exercises. He pushed the huge boulder, plowed the giant field with his bare hands, did construction labor with his shovel and pickaxe, swam laps dodging hungry sharks, and dodged swarming bees while tied to the tree. He repeated this nightmare schedule day after day, and his Saiyan body adapted rapidly.

At one point during the month, Master Roshi decided Gray was ready. He showed Gray how to get a feel for his Ki and taught him the absolute basics of energy control. He even showed him the exact movements for the Kamehameha wave. Gray attempted to get a feeling for it, focusing his mind and trying to channel his inner energy, but he was still a long way from actually firing a blast. He could feel the warmth of Ki inside him, but it would take a lot more time to master.

Once the monthly training timer finally hit zero, the dimension forcefully pulled Gray out of the simulated world.

Looking around, he was back in the quiet, stone layers deep underground. Gray stood up, stretched his limbs, and rolled his shoulders. He felt like he had made huge leaps for himself. His body felt completely light, and he felt like he could actually move his muscles exactly how he wanted to. That was only one month with Master Roshi, and the results were already insane.

Gray smiled. He planned on keeping up his training with Roshi until he felt completely ready for the next tier. The best part was that he wasn’t only limited to Dragon Ball masters. He could eventually buy and train with legendary teachers from One Punch Man, One Piece, Naruto, or hell, even Bleach. He had so many options to choose from.

With a quick thought, Gray teleported back to the surface. He stepped out into the prison courtyard, seeing the warm light of the sun just about to dip below the trees. A single day had passed in the real world, and his seven-day cooldown was officially underway.

Since his passive system income did not generate while he was inside the Training Dimension, Gray opened his menu to find his balance sitting at 226,166,929,986 Gold. Buying Master Roshi inside the dimension had cost him exactly 20 billion Gold, but he did not really need to buy anything else right now anyway. At one point during his month of training, he had thought about using the system shop to buy better martial arts talent. He chose not to do it for now. He wanted to keep training under Master Roshi naturally. If he ever got stuck or stopped improving, he would cheat with his system, but for now, he wanted to rely on pure hard work.1

Now that he was back in the real world, his Minecrafter Physiology was fully active again. Looking out over the courtyard, he saw the survivors were actually hard at work on the apartment buildings. T-Dog and Morales could be seen running electrical wires all along the stone structure. They were not the only ones working either; they had a few more people from the Woodbury group helping them out. Gray also noticed that the guard towers had more people keeping a sharp watch over the fields. Gray decided to just leave them to it, planning to focus his future work underground rather than up here with everyone.

He walked over to his private, walled-off RV space. Instead of teleporting inside like he usually did, Gray decided to just jump over the walls. He cleared the four-block-high stone barrier fairly easily. After training under three times Earth’s gravity for a full month, his body felt extremely light in the real world.

He went inside his RV, took a shower to wash off the dirt, and sat down to continue watching his shows. Having already finished My Hero Academia, he decided to start watching all of the Marvel movies instead.

  • I forgot to say that he would not earn his passive gold while inside the dimension (Chapter 45), so I went back and fixed it. Sorry for the inconvenience
