Olivia laughed weakly at herself.
"Why...? Why do you always have to be like this around me?" She wiped the corner of her eyes. "Whenever I was sad... You’re there. When I got sick with the flu... You stayed beside me, nursing me right back to health."
"When those men kidnapped me, you came alone to rescue me without caring for your own life. And now..." She said while laughing through the stubborn tears that had refused to stop. "Now you’re the one comforting me again."
She slowly closed her beautiful siren like eyes and muttered.
"Do you really have any idea how unfair that is? You’re always there whenever I absolutely need someone the most. You make it so impossible for me to keep my distance, Alex. Sometimes you even make me forget who I’m supposed to be."
Alex looked at her quietly before walking around the couch until he stood directly in front of her. He met her green eyes with a sincere light and smiled gently.
"It’s because..." He hesitated for only a second before saying. "I’ve never really been able to see you as just Zack’s mother."
Olivia looked stunned, but Alex continued.
"To be honest, I don’t even know when exactly it started. Maybe... Maybe it was right after that day that we almost had sex, or maybe it was much earlier than that. All I know for sure is..."
He looked directly into her beautiful eyes, trying to muster up some confidence, since he had once read somewhere that when confessing to a girl make sure to maintain direct eye contact and speak with confidence.
"... Is that I like you, Olivia. I like being someone you can rely on, and I like being near you."
Olivia’s body stiffened completely and her breathing stopped once she heard the direct confession coming out of his mouth. The words she had secretly always wanted to hear even if she knew it was wrong had finally been spoken aloud.
She looked up at him through watery eyes, and then lowered them with a bitter smile on her beautiful face.
"No. This... This is wrong." She said, her voice weak as she tried to shake her head. "We can’t be together. We can’t do this. Think about the age gap between us. I am a mature woman with a fully grown son in his early twenties, and you are still so young."
"There is a massive difference in our ages, and the world... People would look down at us with scrutinizing expressions. They’d laugh and judge us. They would say I’m an old cougar eating fresh meat. Plus it would definitely affect your reputation in school. I don’t want any of that to happen."
Alex didn’t let her arguments sway him for even a second. He offered her a warm, reassuring smile and stepped even closer until he was right in front of her knees.
"I don’t care about any of that, Olivia. Haven’t you ever heard the expression, age is just a number? It doesn’t change what I feel for you. As for the whole world they can go f*ck themselves. I don’t care about their trashy opinions."
Despite herself, a tiny laugh escaped her mouth.
"... You’re impossible."
"You have no idea how many times I’ve been told that before."
Olivia opened her mouth to speak, clearly intending to find another logical reason to argue further, but Alex didn’t give her the chance to build up her walls again.
He slowly crouched down right in front of her, bringing himself down to her eye level. Before she could think of pulling back, he lifted both of his hands and gently cupped soft cheeks, his thumbs lightly wiping away a stray tear that had managed to escape her long natural lashes.
Olivia’s breath caught.
"You’ve always tried so hard to hide it, Olivia," Alex said softly, his green eyes locked onto hers with absolute certainty. "You’ve tried to pretend like there’s nothing between us, but I’ve always known the truth."
"I’ve always known that you like me just as much as I like you. Maybe even deeper than you’re willing to admit. So if we both feel the exact same way about each other, then what does it really matter what anybody else thinks?"
As Olivia looked into his intense, confident gaze, she could feel her resolve completely crumbling under the warmth of his hands against her face. She couldn’t deny it anymore. Not after everything that had happened between them.
Her eyes slowly filled with tears once again, making Alex wonder if this woman was made out of water. Barely above a whisper, she finally asked.
"... What about Zack? He’s your best friend and my son. How could we ever look him in the eye after he finds out that his best friend is together with his mom?"
Alex didn’t answer immediately because frankly he had no idea what to say. He rested his forehead lightly against hers and did whatever came to his mind first.
He leaned forward and captured her lips in a domineering, passionate kiss to silence whatever she was about to say. Olivia let out a soft gasp against his mouth, with her hands instinctively moving up to clutch at his shirt as the sudden kiss made her mind go blank.
He made sure to kiss her with so much passion, claiming her completely and erasing every single piece of doubt that had plagued her mind for who knows how long.
For a long, long time, the rest of the world ceased to exist, leaving only the beautiful woman in front of him.
When they finally broke the kiss, Alex kept his face just inches away from hers, with his warm breath fanning against her skin as he looked down at her flushed, breathless face. Looks like it worked. A small confident smirk played on his lips.
"I know it is not going to be easy. But Zack would just have to accept it," he told her softly in a voice that left no room for argument or hesitation.
Olivia’s cheeks burned red from his domineering words. How come she had never realized that he could be so shameless and domineering.
But still, the kiss and his words had made her fully realize that she could not keep running from these feelings anymore. And even though she hated to admit it, she wanted to kiss him again.
So slowly, almost timidly in front of Alex’s surprised eyes, she moved her face closer and kissed him. They were making out, like they were actually making out without the influence of the Aura Of Seduction? Just then the system chimed in his mind.
