Chapter 32: Naming the spirits
The spirits noticed that Aric was back to normal and no longer emitting huge amounts of spirit energy, so they rushed over to him. Aric thought they were coming to actually check on him, but he was very wrong.
"You almost killed us," one of the spirits yelled at him.
"Yeah, you said this would benefit us as well," another spirit said.
"How does you killing us benefit us?" another spirit asked. They all flew around him, scolding and complaining.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm not sure what I did that pissed you off so much, but I am sorry," Aric said.
"He doesn't even know what he did," one spirit said.
"Can you believe this guy?" another spirit said, and immediately after, Aric's attempt to apologize turned into another round of scolding and complaints. He waited quietly for the spirits to finish, and then he spoke again.

"I got my true name, and now I can give you all your true names. That way, I'll pay you guys back," he said. They all paused upon hearing that, and then after a few seconds, they agreed.
"Yes, we want the names," one said.
"Give it to us immediately," another one said.
"You know you guys don't have to do that pause thing every time you want to accept something, right?" Aric said casually, but that turned into another issue.
"Now you want to tell us how to speak? Can you imagine this guy?" one of the spirits said.
"First, you try to kill us, and now you want to tell us how to speak? You are pissing me off," another spirit said.
"I feel like burning you already," one said.
"Maybe we should drown him," another spirit said.
Aric didn't understand how everything he said or did ended with him getting a full scolding. It seemed the spirits were really, really pissed at him.
"I'm sorry, I really am. Alright, let me give you your names," he said and started thinking of how to name them. There were ten of them to name in total.
He got an idea of how to go about it—a way that would incorporate his knowledge of numbers from Earth with a little razzle-dazzle to add some spice.
He pointed at one of the spirits. "Alright, your name will be Unara," he said. The spirit glowed brightly, and then the light died down. Aric took that as a sign that the naming worked.
The name he gave Unara came from the numeric set Una, meaning one.
He pointed to the next spirit and named it. "Your name will be Duvalis." The spirit glowed as well, which meant it was named, and Duvalis came from Duo, meaning two.
He pointed to the third one as well and named the spirit. "Your name will be Treshan." Treshan came from Tres, which meant three.
The fourth spirit came forward, and he named it. "Your name will be Quadoris." Now, that name was not his best work, but he had little to work with for four.
The fifth one came, and he gave it a name. "Your name will be Pentharis." He thought, like the others, this spirit would take the name and go, but this one just had to be different.
"I don't like the name," Pentharis said.
"Huh? When did you get a choice?" Aric asked. He didn't want this spirit spoiling his flow. He didn't care if the spirit liked it or not; it was going to take the name.
"I said I don't like it. Change it for me," Pentharis said.
"I'm the one choosing the names. Nothing will make me change it, Pentharis. You have no choice here," Aric said.
"I'll make you pay for this," Pentharis said and moved. Aric could not believe this spirit actually threatened him. If not for the fact that he needed the spirits, he would have strangled that little creature.
The sixth came up for its name. Aric got back into his mojo of generating names.
"Uhm, your name will be Hexorin," he said and moved on to the seventh. "You will be Septa." His names had started getting lackluster, but he didn't really care. He just wanted to get this over with.
He moved on to the next one and gave it a name. "You will be Octo," he said without even thinking about it much. He looked at the last two and pointed. "You will be Nona and Deca."
"Now that does it for all your names. I'm tired," Aric said and started walking back to camp. He wasn't physically tired, just a little mentally drained, and he wanted to get back and get some good shut-eye.
The spirits followed behind him, all happy about their new names—well, all except for Pentharis. He still didn't like the name at all.
Aric made it back to the campground after a long walk. He walked near the house and sat down, leaning his back against it. Right now, he was far too tired to try anything new. He would let everything be until tomorrow.
The spirits all took resting places on his body since he emitted spirit energy as he slept. Slowly, his eyes closed, and he drifted into the land of dreams.
After what seemed to be a very short nap, the rays of sunlight already assaulted his eyes. Aric slowly woke up, only to find that he was under a lot of weight—a huge amount of weight.
He had slept alone last night, so what could have possibly been on him to cause this much weight? He slowly opened his eyes, only to see a group of people lying down on him and beside him.
"What the hell is happening here?!" Aric yelled, waking up everyone in the camp.
