Chapter 23: Building the wall Part 1
Aric knew that there was no point in worrying about it for now. He would just have to give it his best tonight; it's not like he had any other option.
But still, he wanted to have faith and be hopeful, so he decided to go through with the wall that he was building.
Now that he had the goblins, he should have been able to do it easily, but now Ariel was watching the human lady that was lying there unconscious.

"(Sigh) I guess the goblins will have to do for now," Aric said and walked out. He opened the system and immediately bought more tools for all the goblins.
He got all the hoes he would need for three thousand. He only needed about ten because the rest of the goblins would be carrying the logs and planting them in the ground while Aric would be the one carving out the wood.
The first thing, though, was that he needed to mark the area where he would make the wall. So he got the strings. He spoke to five of the goblins, asking them to carry the sticks and follow him.
They did as he said and grabbed the sticks. Aric took out a tape he bought, placed it on the ground, and then placed a large rock on it. He started pulling the tape in one direction.
His target was two hundred and fifty feet. He kept going with the goblins following close behind. Luckily, he and Ariel had cleared most of the land already, and only a bit of the two hundred and fifty entered the uncleared part of the forest in that direction.
There was no way he would be able to continue if he didn't cut down the trees that blocked the path. He placed the tape on the ground and a stone on it.
"Head back and get the axe," he said to one of the goblins. He sent the goblin a mental image of what the axe looked like.
"Yes, master," the goblin said and started running back. It took a few minutes, but it came running back, pulling the axe behind it.
The goblin was breathing heavily as it returned. Aric felt that the goblin deserved something, so as he collected the axe, he decided to get something for them—water, maybe.
He placed the axe to the side and opened the system interface. He searched for water and saw a barrel of water going for just 50 gold. He decided to buy two.
He bought some wooden cups. Each one went for five gold, and for five, it cost him 25 gold. He bought them, and the two barrels along with the stacks of cups appeared.
The goblins were confused. They looked at the items, trying to figure out what they were. Aric took a cup, popped the top of one of the barrels, and scooped a full cup of water. He handed the water to the goblin that brought the axe.
"Here, take it and drink," Aric said. The goblin eagerly collected it and started drinking. He looked at the other goblins and spoke, "Each of you take a cup and fetch the water from the barrels.
"But you all have to keep in line. I don't want any ruckus, or I'll take the water away," Aric said. He made sure they all got the mental image of what he was talking about.
The goblins got up and tried to follow what he said. They struggled at the beginning, with each one wanting to be ahead of another—typical human behavior.
"It's enough for everyone, so get in line. If you keep pushing, I'll take it away, and no one gets any," Aric yelled, and they immediately stopped. Wherever they stood in the line, they stood there—no longer pushing.
They all started getting their cups and heading to the barrel. After he made sure that they were moving as he wanted, Aric picked up the axe and headed to the tree that had blocked them.
He started swinging, hitting the tree very low, near the stump. He swung at full force, and in a few minutes, he had already cut it down. The tree fell and startled the goblins and some birds in the tree.
Aric didn't pay heed to them, though. He immediately walked to his next tree and started cutting it down. There were a few trees he would need to get through before he could continue what he was doing.
Tree after tree after tree, he kept cutting them down until he felt that it was enough. He cut close to twenty trees in total.
He walked back to where he had left the tape and saw all the goblins seated on the ground, resting. The two barrels were open and empty.
He knew that they would drink it all, but still, seeing it was shocking, as they were only five of them. As he returned, he picked up the tape and gave them instructions. "Let's go."
He had already wasted a lot of time today, and this wall had to come up today. He would have to carve the wood, make the foundation, remove tree stumps, and more, but he was going to finish it today no matter what.
He marked the spot at the two hundred and fifty mark and planted the first stick before using the string to start making the straight line.
He used the stick and line until they made it back to camp. Immediately upon reaching camp, he spoke to the goblins.
"Get your hoes, dig the hole three feet deep," he said and raised the tape. They might have low intelligence, but it didn't mean they were dumb. He showed them the tape and showed them three feet. With his mental image added, they couldn't make a mistake.
"Ron, Gunam, Lucas, you three are in charge," Aric said. The three of them bowed. They picked their hoes, and the rest followed. Ron collected the tape, and they all headed to go dig the foundation.
