Chapter 84: Demonic Vessel of Corruption. Part-2.

Miasma and Corruption are semi-self-conscious existences and can adapt to all kinds of situations in the universe, but pseudo-self-consciousness has its limits, and Miasma itself is fully aware of its own shortcomings.

To mitigate this shortcoming, Miasma creates its own dependents who act as its hired thugs and loyal subordinates.

This need for subordinates and hired thugs was the main reason why ’Demons’ came into existence.

Demons are a race that was created by miasma with its own powers, and as demons are creations of miasma, they are not considered the same type of organisms as the native creatures of the universe.

They are treated like parasites or cancer to the universe, and their existence is just as much of a bane to this world as miasma itself is.

As children of miasma, demons are born with miasma running through their bodies and souls from the very beginning!

From the very moment of birth, the fate of every demon is already determined.

Due to its horrific corrosion and corruption abilities, miasma is not only harmful to other normal creatures of the world; it causes severe harm to the demons too.

As a demon ages or becomes stronger, the miasma in its body continues to grow and becomes denser, similar to how mana in a person’s body becomes more and more purified and denser as they grow stronger.

But unlike the gentle and kind ’mana,’ an increase in miasma density causes tremendous chaos.

With each passing day, demons become corrupted from the inside out by their own miasma until their lifespan runs out due to miasmic corruption.

In other words, from the very beginning, demons are already carrying the source of their own demise inside their own bodies, and with each passing day, their bodies are slowly succumbing to that ultimate destiny of corrupted rot!

Nonetheless, demons are perfect disposable subordinates of miasmic corruption that are forced to do miasma’s bidding.

Even if they aren’t willing to do something, they have to do it because once they lose the favor of miasma, they would cease to exist, as the miasma inside their own body would kill them right away.

But even demons have shortcomings; they are inherently violent creatures that go insane due to miasma over time and can’t lay out intelligent plans and schemes.

To make up for this, a type of special existence was created by miasma using the already existing beings of the universe as its own pawns!

Through the process of demonification and corruption, miasma can corrupt already existing entities of the universe and turn them into its own obedient pawns that have no free will of their own and only exist to do the bidding of miasma and corruption!

These entities that end up as centers of rapidly spreading corruption are referred to as ’Demonic Vessels of Corruption’!

’Demonic Vessels’ are created from people that are already prone to degeneration and are easy to manipulate.

Once demonification is completed and miasma gains control over the creature’s body, it can use the creature’s mind, soul, and memories to create new and more sophisticated plans!

This process is like a virus entering a computer, gaining access to the entire processing capabilities of the system along with its memory core before using the processing power of the computer to make it do its own bidding!

To Miasma, every organism in the world is ’Free Computing Power’ or a free ’Resource’ that can be assimilated and used whenever the chance arises to corrupt them.

"Now you understand why I said that a new ’Demonic Vessel’ has been born in the capital city?"

"Due to my past activities of sneaking into the city, miasma reacted and came to the conclusion that it needs an intelligent vessel in this city to deal with me, who likes to frequently make trouble for it..."

"On the order of miasma, this newly born vessel is likely trying its best to lay out plans and traps to deal with me right now..."

"The presence of that Elite golem near the entrance is clear and solid proof of this."

"The vessel must have stationed one Elite Golem at all of the entrances and once you try to see through the cores of these golems, the miasma stored inside makes them self-destruct, making it impossible to see the entire plan..."

The more Xinran talked, the more worried Zephyr felt.

"Thankfully, from how clumsy these plans and how full of loops these traps are, it is easy to guess that the vessel is quite new and has only been born recently."

"It doesn’t have much experience or hasn’t fully assimilated the mind of its host body."

"Which means we still have the time and chance to sneak around in the city and even look for an opportunity to destroy it completely."

Xinran sighed as she glanced at the tattoo on Zephyr’s wrist.

"The birth of a new demonic vessel means that the density of miasma inside the city must have risen to a completely new level..."

"Last time a demon vessel was discovered, it was already fully matured and Layla almost died several times before finally managing to destroy that vessel..."

"A fully matured vessel can topple nations, shatter mountains with one finger, change weather with one thought, and create miasmic tides to drown entire cities in miasmic filth."

"We can’t let an entity like that live and mature; it will definitely cause massive-scale chaos if we let it go now."

Speaking this far, Xinran sighed deeply and lamented in an annoyed tone,

"The timing of Layla losing her status as a ’Hero’ couldn’t have been more worse than this..."

"If she were still the ’Hero,’ I could have just abandoned this mission and gone back to tell her about the birth of the new demonic vessel."

"Once she knew of it, she would have rushed straight into the core of the city like a mad dog and wouldn’t have retreated until the vessel was shattered completely..."

"Alas... now you are carrying the ’Obelisk’ with you; even if I go back now, Layla will be just as helpless as me."
