Chapter 66: To You In The Future... Part-2.

As Zephyr closed his eyes, a massive amount of information entered his mind.

Most of the knowledge entering his mind was just gibberish that Zephyr couldn’t comprehend and couldn’t even understand, but there were some parts that he could barely ’see.’

To Zephyr, it felt as if his mind had entered a vast ocean of knowledge, and he was drifting in that vast ocean aimlessly.

Several unknown images of things that he had never even seen in his life flashed past his mind without him being able to understand what they were, but there were some that Zephyr got to get a glimpse of.

In one image, there was a vast, endless universe with endless stars and countless galaxies spread across millions of light-years of space.

In another image there was a transparent-looking oval orb floating through a dark reddish-black unknown substance.

There were weird creatures in the images that he had never seen before, and there was a broken sword drifting through the endless cosmos.

All this was bizarre, incomprehensible, and simply impossible to interpret, and Zephyr couldn’t make any sense of all these images.

Before Zephyr could even focus his mind to properly analyze these images, a horrible pain assaulted his head as more and more information was forcefully injected into his head!

Zephyr suddenly felt his body twist and turn into various shapes; he felt as if his mind were shattered into pieces and then scattered all over the world.

Before Zephyr could come to understand this strange situation, he found himself floating in the depths of a boundless ocean.

A gigantic octopus-like creature was staring at him with its dark red eyes in amusement, with a humanlike grin on its face.

Looking at that creature’s massive and unfathomably big body, Zephyr felt insignificant, and his mind couldn’t even comprehend what he was looking at.

Soon Zephyr found himself drifting into a river of lava, and then he found himself lying on a mountaintop with heavy acid rain falling on him constantly.

Just when Zephyr thought that this agony would continue endlessly, he heard a faint distant whisper from some unknown direction, and everything around him suddenly went pitch black!

{To you in the future... Collect all ’Obelisks’... and Re-??? the ???? of ????, ????...}

{No matter what happens... NEVER GAZE AT WHAT LIES BEYOND THE FINAL EDGE!}

"!?!?"

Zephyr opened his eyes abruptly and found himself standing in the same spot as before. He used the system hint as if what he just saw never happened in the first place and all that was just an illusion of his mind.

Zephyr felt like he had seen and heard too much, but he could not recall it all properly.

His mind was jumbled up like there was too much information inside of it that he could not digest and could only unconsciously sense to be existing inside of him.

’What in the actual f*ck just happened to me!?’

Ever since he got the ’Hint System,’ Zephyr has only gotten hints in the form of system text, and even then, the system usually gives those texts in very short sentences, as if the system were being stingy and lazy and wasn’t bothering to write much.

But this time everything was different.

Not only did the system not give a small sentence, it actually gave him a full-on cutscene that involved so many mysteries that Zephyr could not even comprehend most of it.

’The only thing I got from all this was the final line, which was warning me to not gaze at what lies beyond the ’Edge’...’

’But I don’t even know what this so-called ’Edge’ mentioned by the hint is... I don’t even know what ’Obelisks’ this hint is talking about...’

Zephyr knew that the name of this horror game was ’Obelisk Aperion,’ and he also knew that ’Aperion’ meant ’Infinite,’ so it wouldn’t be wrong to call this game ’Obelisk Infinite’ or ’Obelisk Infinitum.’

Until now, no player has managed to figure out why this game is called in such a way and what its main motive is.

This is the first time Zephyr has managed to find a small clue about something related to the core secrets of this horror game.

The name of the game involved obelisks, and this clue also mentioned them, so it was very likely that this hint involved the core motives of the existence of this game world.

’If I can find out more about these so called ’Obelisks’, I might be able to understand what the true mysteries of this world are and what all these strange memories that I have seen are...’

In the bizarre memories, Zephyr saw so many kinds of weird monsters that he could not even properly understand what they were, but even among all the weird monstrosities he saw, that massive octopus-like creature stood out the most.

’Was that the famous legendary Cthulhu!? No, that can’t be true, right!?’

’From what I have known through movies and comics, if someone catches even a glimpse of that kind of powerful being, the person goes insane as their mind shatters and their souls break apart into pieces!’

The odd thing was Zephyr stared into that giant creature’s eyes directly, and yet he was fine despite all that!

Just when Zephyr was feeling increasingly baffled by the strange things he had seen, he suddenly realized that there was no more pressure on his body.

His body felt light, as if all the shackles slowing him down were broken, and he was free to move as he saw fit!

With a look of doubt, Zephyr took a step forward only to realize that the pressure that was originally stopping him from moving even an inch forward was now completely gone!!

With a surprised look on his face, Zephyr walked forward, took several steps, and even tried jumping around to see if he was really free from the shackles.

"How odd... the pressure I was feeling suddenly disappeared!?"

With doubts clouding his head, Zephyr made his way to the distant hill as he contemplated about the massive amount of information in his head.

’The strange whisper started with ’To you in the future’... Does that mean whoever left this message already knew that it would reach me in the future and they recorded it specifically for me?’

’It shouldn’t be possible to do something like that, right?... but then again, this is a world of bizarre cosmic phenomena that do not follow any rules of physics and can cause bizarre things to happen in various forms and ways...’

’It won’t be surprising if there exists someone in this world that can see into the future and already knows about the existence of the players brought to this horror world from outside...’

From what Zephyr had seen and heard, Xinran was likely unaware that Zephyr was not from this continent and was actually a person from a completely different place and reality.

When he asked her about information, she shrugged off the matter of him being so clueless by assuming that he had been living in some secluded human tribe that had hidden itself from the rest of the world.

She even said the entire continent was filled with dangers and was going through many horrific changes ever since the Kingdom of Jauregia fell, and it was quite normal for weak humans to seclude themselves in hidden locations.

’What I am most confused about is how did ’Layla Jauregia,’ a person who’s supposedly only about as strong as Xinran, create this sort of trial that required knowledge of these bizarre things to pass the trial?’

’Don’t tell me that she also knows all this weird information and, in more detail, than me?’

Thinking about these questions, Zephyr was now getting more and more eager to meet this so-called ’Hero’ and ask her all the questions that were bubbling inside his head.

While thinking about various things in his head, Zephyr finally arrived at the top of the hill where the giant cauldron was located and climbed atop the metal coldron.

Standing on the metallic handle of the gigantic cauldron, Zephyr noticed that there was nothing but dense glowing particles jumping around in the bottom of the cauldron, and the rest of the cauldron was empty.

’Are these dense light elemental particles? No, maybe it’s something else... How strange, I can’t even sense them with my perception or mana detection ability...’

By now Zephyr had seen too many strange things and phenomena, so he wasn’t even surprised and didn’t even bother wasting time trying to investigate these strange things, as he knew it was futile and he had no way of knowing the truth at the moment.

’Let’s finish what I came here for first; I will think about the rest of the things later... I want to get out of this weird place as fast as possible; there’s no point lingering around here much longer...’

Glancing at the distant paradise from atop the hill, Zephyr shook his head and then threw the torch inside the cauldron.
