Chapter 1765: How To Maim Trash Tier Divines (2)

Pell couldn’t believe his pupil.

The resplendent lightshow that erupted in front of him, catching Kiek and Mongul in its violence, made even the catfish Fiend draw back. Pell’s pupil constricted.

"No way...!"

Those fools. Were they getting owned by mortals?

He’d seen it just before the sixty or so blasts from the Stark Troops flew at the inhuman duo. Amras reinforcement alone wasn’t going to cut it. To emerge unscathed from that attack...

’Why did it have to be these two?’ Pell cried inwardly and flew into the great void towards the target of the shower of Aggrante. ’How am I supposed to secure a vessel without decent support?’

He was faster than Mongul and Kiek. When he emerged from behind the bright explosion, which didn’t wane one bit as the Stark Troops kept firing, only a few noticed him.

Gerriey had been waiting for this third enemy. She clutched the neck of the tattered, scarlet cloak over her Granted Armament, another Realm rank Treasure, and activated its Absolute Prime Property. Suddenly, the cloak knew no end. Its hem flourished and whipped out, reaching for the nearest Troops and wrapping them so completely that nothing of them could be seen.

Then, it was though they didn’t exist. With the exception of Gerriey herself, everyone the cloak wrapped around vanished from the vision of all onlookers and was shielded from physical harm.

...But Pell was a lick smarter and faster than his partners. He’d seen through the Stark Troops’ strategy.

’They knew a thing or two about a thing or two: using Treasures to counter Andori and other Treasures by maximizing their defensive, offensive, and mobile properties...’

It was cunning, but when the enemy figured out who among the enemies were nucleus of the attack...

NZIIIIIIING!

Amras swelled and gathered into a ball the size of a fingernail in front of Pell’s pupil.

...And then he fired it as a thin laser. Before he could be wrapped by the extending cloak, Ruge was decapitated by the searing throng, and when it swiped towards his arm, it blasted his Treasure – the gauntlet – away.

Timmit was done the same. His shoulder plate Treasure was sent flying after he was carved through from the torso, the laser taking extra care to sheer through his wings.

Suddenly, the Troops’ plan to split everyone with a mobility-type Treasure had backfired as it took a little longer for those specific Troops to be protected by Gerriey’s cloak.

’Dammit!’ cursed Gerriey. Though she knew Ruge and Timmit would be restored, their entire offense was thwarted. Her cloak hid and shielded, but it wouldn’t allow them to continue their attack. They could only sit still within its embrace.

The rush of Aggrante died down. More Troops were swallowed up by the cloak, but Pell lasered several others before that, sniping away their Treasures. He then closed in. His first target was Ruge’s gauntlet, which allowed him to effortlessly warp those he pointed at in any direction he wished. Pell’s spectral arms reached forth, and he nabbed the gauntlet. His pupil dilated.

’Stealing that vessel won’t be too difficult now, however powerful it is!’ he thought and then turned to Amanas while sheathing his spectral arm with the gauntlet.

...But then a scarlet cloak wrapped around Pell, completely smothering him.

"Damn you!" he cried from within its confines. It wouldn’t bind him for long.

The cloak was meant to be used for allies, thus, when it wrapped a target, it didn’t forcibly restrain them. Its length came off Pell rather easily. His spectral arms were the result of a Sage tier Andori. Using them to pull free of the cloak, he once again brandished his newly acquired gauntlet when...

"WATCH OUT!"

A warning for Pell. Battered and gouged up as she was, Kiek screamed as though her life depended on it. It just might have. After all, if Pell died, she and Mongul, who now looked like a hunk of charred straw, would stand no chance against the dozens of mortals.

...And it seemed that the great jet of energy barreling towards Pell in that moment was quite capable of incapacitating him. Alarms rang in his head. Were it easy to warp in the great void, he would have. His reflexes sharpened, and he just barely managed to chuck himself out of the Aggrante’s way.

’That blast again!’ Pell turned to its source...only to get so startled that he flew all the way to the catfish Fiend.

The last thing the eyeball had been expecting, when he turned, trying to find who had fired the beam, was to see a chubby, stubby-limbed woman flying inches from him in the great void.

Kintar scoffed at Pell’s reaction.

"Divine, my ass," she murmured.

Kiek and Mongul scurried back towards the catfish Fiend as well. The rush of Aggrantes had left them traumatized. Even when it was just another mortal they were up against, they didn’t want to take any chances.

Kintar scoffed again and turned to the Stark Troops. Those who had died had just been restored, and Gerriey was starting to unravel those she’d wrapped in her cloak. Almost immediately, they all started rallying into formation again.

’I should give them some credit, I suppose,’ she said, quelling her impulse to say something nasty. ’They’re completely unable to use their mana and skills, but even then, they fought off two Divine beings in this harsh setting.’

She flashed two inches forth and back. Easy peasy. The great void didn’t hinder her. She couldn’t warp, but she could comfortably dash around.

Despite being a mortal, Kintar had rewritten herself out of Aigas’ system. She was not a human with Mage powers. She was simply... a Mage. Her unique constitution made it tragically easy to maneuver in the great void.

Turning to the Troops, she met Gerriey’s eyes by chance. Suddenly, Muezzi’s words echoed in her head.

We’re of the same blood.

None of the old Troops or the Stars were related to Kintar by blood, but...

’Family, is it? I guess I wasn’t as strange as I thought after all. People can understand me just fine.’

She chuckled and gave Gerriey a creepy grin.

’Yeah, yeah. You did well. Leave the rest to me.’ Somehow, she said it all with that insidious smile. Gerriey shuddered.

Kintar flew forth towards the enemies.

Still, these idiots can be of use – even moreso than as punching bags. They seem awfully desperate, though. Curiously so,’ she thought.

Pell’s guard rose. Somehow, he was on edge. He hadn’t felt this way since only recently, when that...

But how and why was a mortal making his instincts scream? It didn’t make any sense.

Kintar stopped when the catfish Fiend roiled and prepared to lunge.

’Grim was right. Mustering any power that isn’t Divine in the great void is almost impossible,’ she thought, but a sinister smile was plastered on her lips. ’I got overly cautious fighting the masked man and chose not to try this then, but well, this is as good a time as any...’

The image of the symbols on Amanas’ consoles ran through Kintar’s head. She was starting to feel it – to see a path for evolving her Magecraft into a force of nature rather than simple Magecraft. She’d already surpassed the theoretical limits of the craft, after all.

Thus, she drew on the magic inside her, forcing it to stabilize, and then...

’She said you apply Barter like this, right?’
