Chapter 814: Chapter 422: I Don’t Want to Interfere in Your Business
Joshua Hughes was furious to the extreme, his entire body starting to exude a violent aura: "Get out of here immediately, or I’ll send everything that just happened to Adam Matt, let him see how low his wife can stoop." Donna screamed as he pushed her to the ground. With a cold, deep look in his eyes, he buttoned his belt and zipped his pants, urgently rushing out of the office, not forgetting to turn back and say coldly, "Disappear before I return......"
With that, he yanked open the office door and stormed out.
Just as he rushed out, he saw Avery Jane’s graceful and nimble figure slip into the elevator, her stunningly beautiful face showing what seemed like a glimmer of tears in her eyes. He hurriedly rushed forward, trying to pry open the closing elevator doors, but it was too late, as he watched the numbers descend one by one. He pressed the button for another elevator. Damn it, he punched the wall fiercely. It had been so hard to get things between them to a better place, to finally get her to lower her guard and follow him, and now something like this happened, now even jumping into the Nile River wouldn’t clear his name......
Her elevator stopped on the floor where she worked, and beads of cold sweat appeared on Joshua Hughes’s forehead. Luckily, she hadn’t left the building. The thought of her possibly escaping again and him being unable to find her made him feel a pain in his heart like angina, even to the point where his nose started to tingle, thankfully she was still here......
Everyone was eating in the employee cafeteria, and Avery Jane, carrying two lunch boxes, walked out of the elevator in a daze. Just then, she ran into a male colleague from the engineering department: "Avery Jane, eating two portions by yourself, never thought you had it in you to be such a tomboy." In their downtime, they always joked around a bit nonchalantly.
:"You take it and eat." Avery, like a wandering spirit, handed the lunch boxes to her colleague before walking into her office and sitting at her desk.
The tech guy was contemplating how to make small talk with the goddess when he saw a tall figure storming over: "Good afternoon, CEO." Just as he finished speaking, and before he could even bow, the person had vanished with the wind. Immediately after, the door to Avery’s office in front was quickly shut. He stood there bewildered, having never seen such a handsome yet cold like a godly figure appearing so disheveled and anxious. The goddess was inside, should he go in or not? The tech guy opened his lunch box and began to eat outside while pondering whether he should go in or not.
Avery sat in a daze, like a frightened quail, until the door was slammed shut, and she raised her eyes slightly. He seemed very fierce, his breath a bit chaotic, which startled her.
:"Why did you come, only to leave immediately?" Joshua Hughes was too worried, his breath still a bit unsteady. He tried to soften his tone as he spoke to her, walking determinedly to her: "Don’t be angry, let’s discuss it outside." Saying this, he reached for her hand to lead her out.
Avery felt the scene just now was too overwhelming, her emotions hadn’t recovered yet. His voice, so gentle, left her dazed: "No......" Her clear, bright eyes blinked once, recalling the sensational scene just now, she instinctively refused.
:"Avery, don’t be angry, let’s go outside, I’ll explain it to you properly." Joshua Hughes knew that what she had just seen was hard for her to accept, so he lowered himself to coax her: "Did you come looking for me for something? I think I saw you buying lunch boxes, right?"
:"No, I didn’t......" Avery denied, lowering her head. She couldn’t tell whether it was embarrassment, grievance, or anger, all kinds of emotions intertwined, making it hard for her to breathe.
:"Then I need to talk to you about something, okay?" Joshua Hughes, feeling anxious, lowered his voice, which instantly calmed her. Then, while she was still in a daze, he half-dragged, half-carried her out of the office.
The tech guy was eating his braised egg, witnessing everything with eyes wider than the egg he was biting into. What was happening here? Caught under Joshua Hughes’s warning glance, he lowered his head, trying hard to swallow the egg......
The elevator went straight down to the underground parking lot. Joshua Hughes placed the still sulking woman in his arms into the backseat, sat in himself, and held onto her trying-to-avoid body, whispering softly into her ear: "Be good, please don’t be angry, I can explain."
