Chapter 93: May the odds be in her favour

They did not even flinch. It felt like she was taking to walls, or worse, to herself in public. "The first task I need all of you to do is fetch water. A whole lot of it. But do not use so much strength and you will need it to farm." Mira said.

The cheetahs stared at her, their gaze narrowing. "And how do you expect us to fetch water?" One asked. This made Mira’s eyes twitch. She knew there were lakes and rivers and streams nearby. And the people had wooden bowls. That question must have been asked to annoy her. Mira took a deep breath in then steadily let out a sigh. "Head to the town and grab every big wooden bowl you can find. Preferably big ones to carry a lot of water. And bring them here." Mira responded.

"And what do you do then?" The same person questioned. Mira instantly felt a figure loom behind her. The person that spoke instantly changed tongues. "W. . . We will carry out the task."

With that, all of them dispersed. Mira let out a tired exhale. The only reason any of them paid attention to her was because of Ming Tao. None of them had any form of respect or care in the world for her. They would get rid of her if they could.

Too bad they are stuck with me! Mira attested in her mind. It was draining though, having to deal with them, she admitted in her head and turned to face her husband. "You don’t need to do that." She worded, her voice calm.

"Do what?" Ming Tao asked, he feigned ignorance.

Mira brought her hands up his face and held both his cheeks. She pinched him gently then pulled. "This. You do not have to intervene every single time they give me a hard time. I can handle it on my own."

Ming Tao raised a brow. Mira pouted at the meaning behind that look. It read as; seriously? Without my help you would be toast. She pinched his cheeks harder. Ming Tao winced. "My face is not meat."

"It is about to be if you keep staring at me that way."

Ming Tao raised his hands up to meet her fingers on his hand and eased it off his cheeks. "I won’t." He said. "I will let you be you and handle yourself on your own. But I am always here when you need me." Ming Tao added.

Mira smiled, well, right now, she needed his cock pumping inside of her but he was not giving her that. "I know." She responded to him. "But do not step in every single time. The cheetahs will only perceive it as something else. It does not look good on me."

Ming Tao let out a heavy breath. She was right, but it was difficult for him to stand there and watch his people disrespect his wife and not do anything about it. He knew the kind of hate they bore, he harboured it too and that almost cost her her life. He does not want to take the chances of letting that ever happen again. He does not even want to dream of it. "I will try." Ming Tao said.

Mira got on her tip toes and tilted her head up to place a kiss on the side of his face. This made Ming Tao’s heart beat violently in his chest. "Thank you! I love you!" Mira beamed, then turned his face to the other side and kissed his cheek there too. His face turned red. He wanted her to do it again. Mira noticed Ming Tao’s tail wiggle behind him. A smirk formed on her face at that. For someone who did not want her to touch him before, he sure got excited at her every touch.

"Skinny cat, I have a task for you too." Mira stated. Ming Tao snapped out of his head.

He put a hand to his chest and pointed at himself. "Me? Me too?" He looked surprised. He thought the perks of being her husband meant not working with the others.

Mira nodded. "Yes. You." Mira said, her face was bright and he did not want to not hear her out.

"Talk." He murmured.

"I need you to scout the area for animals."

Ming Tao’s face flattened. She sent his people to fetch water and she sent him to hunt? That barely seemed fair. "I. . ." He tried to protest.

"Like, right now." Mira interrupted him. "Go." She urged and placed her hands on his chest then nudged him forward. "The more animals you catch, preferably males and females so they can populate, the better. And ensure they are alive." Mira added.

Ming Tao had no room to question her so he gave in. "You owe me for this." He stated.

"I do not doubt that, husband. Now hurry along." Mira said. She watched him leave. Now she was alone. Finally. This land was vast. It would be massive enough for a suitable farm but they did not need to use all of it. Mira let her feet sink into the soil. It felt rich with nutrients, she was a plant owner herself back on earth so she could easily tell when a soil was rich. "System, give me a detailed description of what soil contents. I need to know which is best suitable for planting food for gazelles, impalas and hares." Mira stated. As far as her knowledge of the beast world went, she knew they hunted for those to feed. And she needed all of them to desert her so she could freely communicate with system.

[Initialising scan] System chimed. Mira watched as a hologram scan ran through the soil. The loading bar was on the screen as the scan went on.

[Scan completed!
