Chapter 86: Mystic thoughts
I deserved that, Ming Tao thought as he made his way through a lake, standing just on the land by the water, I should probably just tell how what is bothering me and how I feel but I am not doing that so not to make her worry or upset but it seemed like that was infuriating her more.
Ming Tao sat on the ground and crossed his legs. The night was chilly. The midnight breeze fanned his chest and despite his fur, he felt the effect of it. He rested both his hands behind him to support his torso and stared into the sky.
Now, Mira was here with him, tomorrow she may not be and he was not handling that well at all. Although, all he had to do to change that despite the council’s decision was say a word. He was the ruler after all, the one above any law within the clan yet they did make some sense. A lot of it actually. Just because he did not see her as he used to does not erase the vile things she did in the past.
Ming Tao let out a sigh, he could not believe he was kicked out of his own room. At this point, his wife could clam his own house and send him out and his sick self did not find anything wrong with that. Maybe that was why it was so easy for her to manipulate and hurt him in the past. With thick, woven vines laced with thorns and heat, intense heat from a fire she caused all to make him suffer.
Mira did a lot more harm to him than good and he wondered if the short time he spent with her was enough to erase all of that memory. He wondered if falling for her again was wise, and if welcoming her into his coalition was a smart thing to do much less of mating. While other things factored into him refusing to bond with his wife that way, it was hard for him to not remember the terrible things. His body still bore scars induced by her devious behaviour and his mind was torn with grief. And attraction.
Here he was, late at the break of midnight, lost in his thoughts in the cold night outside of his home by a lake. A lake that bore him traumatic memories. One he almost drowned in because of the woman in his bed.
Ming Tao swallowed. Thinking about this was not good for him. He managed to get the thought out of his mind for so long yet they forced their way back in and fought side by side his urges. Urges he did not know if he should have but could not help but bear the weight of it. Mira made him lose his mind. Something about her body pulled him to her. The way she spoke. Her feistiness. Her sharp tongue. Her simple nature. Her everything. This new change she had was attractive and he wanted to taste every bit of her. He tasted her once but that was just the tip of it and he had never felt more stupid for refusing to mate now that he thought about it.
Ming Tao let his body fall backwards till his back hit the ground. He put his hands behind his head to serve as pillows, still staring at the night sky full of stars.
"Farming." Ming Tao worded. He had never heard that word before. He also had never heard the word ’pervert’ yet Mira had used those words to him and the word ’farming’ actually had a meaning. He wondered what explanation pervert was. He wondered what other new words she had not yet said to him before that she would bring up and he wanted to learn more, mainly because he assumed she formed them all. . . yet, it amused him. He had never formed a word before. Maybe he should give it a try.
Ming Tao took a hand from under his head and raised it up to reach for the sky. "Perving." He uttered. "A mixture of farming and pervert. That is my formed word." Ming Tao smiled then laughed out loud. It felt so silly yet nice. Two compilations of the words his wife used on him to make his own word. "Farmvert." Ming Tao added. His ears wiggled with delight. "To grow food for my food with vert." He said, his own definition to his word. Well, part of his definition, he only stole the explanation Mira gave at the council meeting then added ’vert’. He would use that on her tomorrow to show that he too could make up random words. He wondered if she would take it as him relating to her deeply enough to try to be like her and wipe away what happened tonight.
Speaking of tonight. . . . Ming Tao thought. Hit brows furrowed into a frown as he remembered his encounter with Shu Hua. He knew that female since the moment she was five and now, she made a pass at him tonight. Right in front of his wife.
It seemed that the council members want to take matters into their own hands and force a concubine to him. That was foolish. A beastman only mated once and was bound to that mate for life until she died. And it would be unjust to have more than one mate for a beast man, especially with the low numbers of females populating their world. Females could have multiple husbands to keep the clans running but the same was not for the men, an exception being for the rulers. Ming Tao swallowed.
For a long time, Mira failed to do her duty and her status being alive was a great hindrance to moving to the next suitable true born in line, her sister. It was one of the reasons all of the clan leaders, including Ming Tao wanted her dead. But now, she was doing just that. And changing too. As long as Mira’s heritage and birthing goes, the bond between she and her husbands have become more complicated than before. If she died. . . it would disrupt the order of the clans’ true borns’ heritage. It would make taking the next suitable option to wife complicated too. And as far as Ming Tao was concerned, he would never accept Hye Yang as his wife, not after what she did, and this was also an issue. Other females could not bear true borns. Their body was too fragile for it. The babies either ate the mothers from the womb out then suffocated till they died themselves or the females died of a horrible disease after bearing an heir. It made no sense why but that was the reality they came to accept. It was why he found it stupid Shu Hua was sent his way. She could die. Unless there was something the council knew about her heritage that they kept hidden.
Ming Tao sat up. Being alone made his mind wander in directions it should not go, his thoughts were everywhere and it was disturbing. He forced his body up the ground and stood, taking his coat with him. He would stay up much longer then retire back inside his home, maybe then, Mira would be asleep and he would join her in bed.
He loved her scent. It was intoxicating in its own way and calming. He also enjoyed her body. Mira’s body was soft and when he hand his hands on her, he lost every reasoning that calmed his wild nature to mate. His blood pumped with a hunger that only she could satisfy. And then now, despite the long night and all the diverse thoughts that ran through his head, he could still taste her in his tongue. He could taste the fruits she had, they melted into her tongue to give a sweet flavour, one he came to love.
Ming Tao lowered his head to stare at his crotch. He was hard. Just the thought of her sent a tingle to his manhood. He wanted to put it inside her, he wanted to forget all the worries and just spent the night in her arms, something she also wanted, but he could not.
Or rather, he did not. It felt so disruptive at this time with so many things happening all at once. But he would though, soon enough. With time, with a clear head. With absolutely nothing coming their way in the slightest. In fact, he would be the one to set up a romantic evening for their first night together. He just needed her to be patient.
Ming Tao swallowed. That seemed rather hypocritical to think. He needed himself to be patient. As far as Mira went, he was the one who barely held his desire. Ming Tao began to walk. He made his way back to his home.
Tomorrow, he would introduce Mira to his clan as his wife and they would begin this thing called farming. And after then, when it does succeed, nothing will come in his way of mating with her.
