Chapter 133: Tell her. . . her sister is pregnant
Mira’s feet slowed. The aim was not to confront her sister head on, but to find out where she stayed and use Hye Yang’s schemes against her.
And now that she had gotten a step of her plan done, she did not know why she had cold feet.
"Special lady!" One of the children keeping an eye on the treasure yelled out loud. The other cubs by Mira’s side immediately waved their hands out as a warning, gesturing that the cub should hush and lower his voice.
The cub did not understand why from his facial expression but he put his hands on his lips.
It seemed to Mira that all the cubs had agreed to refer to her as special lady. She did not know why they gave her this name, but her thoughts went two ways. They either called her that because they were not allowed to refer to her as a demon so chose that instead, or because she was good at cooking meat that no one else had done before in their land.
Mira just had a third thought pop on her head. It could also be because she was the only one in the beast world who could not shift.
She took a deep breath in and shook her head to get the thoughts out. If she let her mind dwell on what it may be, she may end up losing her sister.
Mira reached where th other cubs were and knelt down gently by their side. She poked her head through the leaves that they all stood behind and her breath hitched. Her sister was right there. Laid lazily on the ground by a bonfire and doing something that Mira could not see. She was not in her beast form. Only her tail and fox ears were visible .
"Great job, you all." Mira commented. The cubs seemed to like this subtle praise.
They exchanged glances and clapped their hands with one another but carefully so not to make loud noises.
"What is a job?" of the children asked.
Shoot, that was true, they did not know a lot of words Mira knew. "In this contex, a job means doing something together in order to get a reward for the task done." Mira said. Most times, people did not want to do the job, they only stayed because of the money but these children did not have to know that.
The last thing Mira wanted was them having sense by the actual meaning of a job and demand more meat as reward or bargain a worthy pay for their hard work. One thing Mira knew was these cheetah cubs were not as stupid as the lion cubs could be and they were way more mischievous.
Who on earth called a stoning a ’welcoming party’? And if an adult was not well versed in their games, the adult would believe the cubs in a heartbeat because of those innocent faces and baby voices. These cubs were clever and Mira was sure that they knew just how clever they actually were.
"Oh, okay!" The cub cheered in a whisper. He turned to the others and smiled. "We did a great job you all, we get the meat!" He announced.
Mira found it funny that the other cubs most definitely did not know the meaning of the word ’job’ yet rejoiced their success. These beast cubs were cute.
"When do we get the meat, special lady?" One of the cubs asked. It was then that the atmosphere became dead silent. All of them stopped cheering with each other and redirected their focus on Mira.
Mira swallowed. "You get it as soon as I get back to the river." Mira said to them. "Go and gather all your friends in the other team and let them know you have found the treasure. Now, tell them all to meet me at the river where your swim lessons were being held. I will be with you shortly after." Mira worded.
The cubs exchanged looks with one another like she just said the most bizarre thing before the happy looks reappeared on their faces.
"And hurry!" Mira added. "First to get there gets the biggest piece of meat!" She uttered, only to rile them up.
The children immediately got on their feet and bolted. The only one who did not move an inch was the child sleeping on her chest.
Mira could not help but click her tongue against her palette. Those cubs forgot their own team mate because of the eagerness to get meat.
Well, Mira could see this playing to her advantage.
"Hey," she called softly, pulling the cub further away from her body. The boy was in deep slumber and she did not want to wake him up. "Hey, little one, wake up. I will take you home soon so you have a proper rest but right now, you need to wake up." Mira whispered. The boy groaned on her body.
His body was evidently fighting the separation of his body from her. This cub was cute. He made Mira miss her own children. She really had to see them soon. Once Jia Hao was back from the ruling oracle, she would tell him to bring her children with him to meet with her.
But she needed to ensure that the cheetah clan was safe enough for her lion cubs to live. She had to get rid of Hye Yang before that cunning woman warmed her way into their lives without Mira’s knowledge and made Mira’s children call her auntie.
She was their aunt, but the aunt they needed to stay the heck away from.
"If you wake up now, I will let you have a big chunk of my meat." Mira whispered in the cub’s ears. It was as if his brain had an instant reboot and his eyes fluttered open.
"Meat." He breath. "I want."
Mira grinned. "You will get it, but I need you to do something for me." Mira said.
"Anything for meat." The boy’s sleepy voice echoed in her ears.
Mira brought her mouth to his ears and whispered something in. "I need you to go to that lady over there, and tell her that her sister is pregnant."
