Chapter 103: Pr...egnant?
A head rubbed against her stomach, making her wake up. Mira’s brows furrowed as she sat up slightly to find out what the interruption of her sleep was about. This was when she saw Ming Tao. He had his hands glued to her body and his head was on her stomach. Ming Tao was still asleep. He clutched onto her like she was some soft pillows.
Mira shook her head slightly and rolled her eyes. A smile formed on her face and she rested back on the bed gently so not to disturb his sleep.
Last night was something. It was insane. Absolutely lovely and insane. She expected none of it yet it happened and she could not help but grin so widely it felt like her lips would push out her face. Mira put her fingers over her face. She covered her eyes as memories of him being all over her replayed in her mind. Every damn thing they did.
She had finally had a piece of the money cheetah and she wanted to squeal but she could not. Not right now. Times like this was when Mira wished she had a girl friend to talk to, it would be so nice to have something to geek sexual escapades with but in this world, she was all alone.
[Hey! You have me, host!] System chimed. Mira sighed. She could not even define what relationship she and system had. She did not even know what it was.
Yes, I have you, system, my daily reminder of my last days in the beast world, Mira said in her mind.
[Hehe. Always at your service host!]
Mira let out a sigh. The smile on her lips was still there and she took her hands off her face. She stared up into empty space when she realised something felt off. She could have sworn there was something missing but she could not tell what.
Ming Tao’s fingers reached for her breast. Underneath this fur coat that covered her body, she was completely naked. This cheetah took any chance he got while he was sleeping or awake to touch her. It was cute. At least last night, they finally went further past just kisses and caresses.
That was when it struck Mira. The timer. It was gone. Mira’s eyes widened and she pushed her back off the bed swiftly. The timer was gone. Her eyes searched the air for the screen but she could not see it.
Mira’s mouth fell open and she let out a scream at the realisation. This woke Ming Tao up immediately. His head fell to her thighs and he rubbed a hand on his eyes.
Mira put a hand on her stomach. She was pregnant. There was no doubt about it. She was carrying Ming Tao’s seed. Just as he said would happen last night at the dying lake. Mira’s heart raced in her chest. She was both excited yet confused.
Was all it took these beast people a night to get someone pregnant or was she just overly fertile? She could not tell but this news was messing with her mind in a good way. She wanted to voice out her excitement! Two good things would be happening in the cheetah clan in one go. First, the farming and the end of their hunger crisis and now, she was carrying a true born cheetah in her stomach. Ming Tao would be overjoyed to know he would be a father.
"Ming Tao." Mira called.
Ming Tao raised his head up from her thighs to face her. He looked like his brain was still booting from waking up from a deep sleep.
"Ming Tao, I’m p-" Mira began when a knock interrupted her words. Ming Tao’s and her attention shot to the door. It was so rude to interrupt them in their bed chambers so early in the morning and at such an important moment for Mira! Mira cursed under her breath. It seemed the pregnancy hormones were kicking in quicker this time.
"Who dares interrupt my slumber?" Ming Tao shot from the bed. His tone was angry and commanding.
"F. . Forgive me, mighty ruler but something has happened to the field the cheetahs worked on all day yesterday." Resounded from the back or the door.
Mira’s gaze carried confusion. She exchanged glances with Ming Tao before they returned their attention back to the door.
"Speak." Ming Tao ordered.
"All of our effort has been wasted! Some of the animals have been untied and all of the seeds we planted have been uprooted from the soil the farm is an utter mess, mighty ruler." The person at the other end of the door did, he sounded out of breath and terrified, like he just ran a marathon after seeing this dreadful thing.
"How could this be?" Mira asked under her breath. They had done every single thing correctly and every single adult cheetah had left the farm before Mira did. In fact, before she left to meet Ming Tao at midnight, there street was fallen into a deadly calm. People were in their homes and most already sleeping so Mira could not make sense of this no matter how much she pondered. Her brows furrowed with worry. "Are you sure of this? I hope you are aware of the consequences for passing such dire information if it turns out to be false." Mira said this time to the man at the other end of the door.
She heard his stuttering mumbling from the other end of the door. He mumbled gibberish like someone truly in distress. "I swear on my own life. May I be damned if this is untrue."
This made Mira swallow. Now was the worst timing for this to happen. She was about to break the news to her husband but now seemed like the worst time to do so. And the cheetah at the other end of the door did not seem to be telling a lie.
"How many people are aware of this terrible thing?" Ming Tao questioned.
"Everyone that was with me to take a look at the farm." The man said. "We were about six but the news must have spread like wildfire about now. The people were excited to go and visit this new thing in the cheetah clan today."
Ming Tao’s fist folded. He hated this. Every single thing about this news was daunting. He did not even have time to enjoy his wife a bit more after their first night together. He did not have time to pamper her and now duty calls.
"Steady the people and prevent a ruse as much as you can. I will be out shortly." Ming Tao stated.
"Yes, Mighty cheetah. I will have a few other men go with me to ensure there is peace." The man replied.
"You may go." Ming Tao uttered. The sound of footsteps echoed till it fainted into nothing. Ming Tao turned to look at Mira. His gaze became softer as he looked at her. She was still fresh from their night together. Her body was still covered in his love bites. He wished they could be alone.
"I. ." Ming Tao began, his voice soft.
"I know." Mira said to him. She understood the situation well and knew he needed to leave.
"I am so sorry. I will be here as soon as I oversee this problem. I want to be in your arms more than anything." Ming Tao breath. His tone was beefy and sincere. This made Mira’s lips form into a half smile. The morning may have been presented with terrible news but at east she had her man who was completely obsessed with her.
"I want to say that I will be waiting for you, but that would be me lying." Mira worded, her voice just as soft and welcoming as his, just with a touch of her feminine charm.
Ming Tao’s brow raised at her statement. Mira brought her face to his and kissed him on the mouth. Now she shifted back to her initial pose, to think before now, she was cautious of him perceiving her morning breath and now she just kissed him after waking up while they had exchanged numerous conversations with an outsider. This felt both funny and nice. "I will be coming with you, husband, is what I meant." Mira said.
Ming Tao’s face paled at the kiss. Life finally returned back to him and his cheeks reddened. He did not expect that and it made his head explode.
Mira found his reaction to her kiss so romantic. This was the same man who was inside of her last night yet here he was acting like a high school virgin who had his first kiss taken by his lifetime crush.
"No. Please stay here and let me come back and find you. Let me be the one to serve you after your first night with me, darling." Ming Tao said. His voice did not hide his excitement and shyness one bit.
"That sounds like a dream but the farm concerns me too. Let us go and then we will come back and have everything just like you said. That is, if I can walk after last night’s mating."
