Chapter 48: Chapter 48: The King of the Mist Phantoms
After saying that, Kevin picked up the case holding the RPG launcher and turned on the scan mode of the "Mechanical Sovereign."
On the deck, Stephanie was humming a song as she carefully sorted through the clutter.
Because Kevin had treated her well and given her a big breakfast, Stephanie was in a very good mood. "I wonder how Bella will feel when she sees the photos I took. Right now, she can probably only share one serving of sturgeon caviar with Joseph and his brother, haha."
In fact, at this moment, Bella not only had no sturgeon caviar to eat, she did not even have a single slice of bread.
The yacht they were on had originally been used by a travel company to host tourists on short sea trips.
The supplies on board were only enough for one day of use at full capacity.
Now it was already the fourth day since the Eldritch arrived, and the stock had long been used up.
Although Justin had just received a new reward, there were more than a dozen special forces bodyguards to feed on the yacht, so the food that ended up in Bella’s hands was pitifully little.
"Damn it! That bitch Stephanie! She must have seduced Kevin and slept with him! Slut!" Bella roared like crazy, feeling more and more bitter inside.
"No, I have to get in touch with Kevin. He won’t just watch me go hungry."
Bella gritted her teeth, grabbed a pair of scissors, and cut straight into her dress.
As a fashion designer, Bella was very good at sewing.
Soon, under her hands, a men’s vest in a torn-cloth style appeared in front of her.
Bella looked at her work and nodded with satisfaction. "Hmph, Kevin, lucky you. I’m already giving you a way out. I don’t believe you won’t make up with me."
After saying that, Bella took the lead and contacted Stephanie, then traded the men’s vest over to her.
When Stephanie saw the vest Bella had traded over, she froze on the deck at once. "A proud girl like Bella actually took the initiative to make clothes to please Kevin?"
After saying that, Stephanie grinned and said smugly, "Looks like she’s jealous of me."
As soon as her words fell, an Eldritch smile appeared on Stephanie’s face, and her pupils gave off a blood-red glow.
Then she directly contacted Keston and traded the men’s vest over to him. "Here. My sister Bella made this by hand. She’s too embarrassed to give it to you, so you take it."
When Keston received the gift, the first thing he did was rub his hands on a corpse.
Only after wiping all the blood from his hands did he accept the men’s vest. "It’s really for me?"
Stephanie replied at once, "Of course. If you don’t want it, give it back to me. I’ll give it to Kevin."
Keston jumped up right away and replied in anger, "Don’t you dare! If he dares to wear this men’s vest, I’ll break his legs!"
After saying that, Keston directly left the chat channel and casually draped the men’s vest over himself.
"Hmph, looks like I need to make Kevin and Stephanie become a happy couple as soon as possible. Only when those two go to hell together will they stop getting in the way of the good life Bella and I will have."
He picked up his "Witch’s Oath Coin (Back)," quickly sensed Stephanie’s location, then raised the sail and headed toward Kevin’s fleet.
On a white beach.
Kevin and the others docked the three sailboats by the shore and got off at the same time.
Because they had been sailing for many days, the girls were no longer very used to land, and their steps were a little unsteady.
But soon, their eyes were drawn to a few coconut trees ahead.
Nova kicked off her high heels and ran barefoot to the base of a coconut tree.
She pulled up her red dress and quickly climbed up.
Seeing this, Amelia didn’t hold back anymore. She loosened her hiking outfit and climbed up another tree.
Soon, coconuts the size of soccer balls dropped onto the sand.
Celula and her sister Monchhichi quickly stepped forward and gathered the coconuts.
Right after that, a strong wind blew, and the loud whirring of helicopter rotors came closer from the distance.
Luna guided the armed helicopter to land slowly. As soon as it touched the ground, she jumped out and ran over to Kevin. "It’s an uninhabited island. There are beaches all around, and a forest and hills in the middle."
Kevin sketched a rough map of the island in his mind. He turned to look at the black mist in the distance and frowned. "The black mist is going to swallow this island. We have at most thirty-six hours to stay here before we leave."
At that moment, Amelia and the others came back to Kevin with the coconuts.
Hearing Kevin’s words, they all frowned. The light mood quickly turned tense.
Next, Nova, Celula, and Monchhichi were put in charge of gathering coconuts and wood.
Luna, Amelia, and Stephanie had to collect fine sand.
Kevin dug up a pile of clay from the forest and gathered plenty of gravel.
Soon, a simple kiln a few meters wide stood on the beach.
Once everything was set, Kevin told Amelia and Luna to mix iron ingots, aluminum ingots, and fine sand in the right ratio, and put them in the center of the kiln.
The fire quickly caught. Luna and Amelia stood by, fanning the flames with large coconut leaves to make the kiln heat up faster.
At that time, the three girls tried several times to help, but Kevin shut them down right away. "Two people can handle this. Don’t waste time here. Go prepare the food instead."
Obviously, if someone else helped, the final silicon blocks might not count as made by Luna and Amelia. If Kevin didn’t get his rewards back, he would lose out big time.
So, Kevin sat on a beach sailboat, scanning the [Vessel Anchoring Mooring System] with one hand, while directing the girls to work on the coconuts with the other.
Over the past few days, Kevin and Luna had crafted a lot of Holy Springs. They used all the extra empty bottles to store coconut water.
The rest of the coconut meat was scraped out by the girls and spread on the deck to dry.
Kevin watched the white coconut pieces dry in the sun, slowly giving off a faint coconut scent. He let out a quiet sigh in his heart.
He needed to make all these girls his [Covenant-Bearers] as soon as possible.
Since Nova, Celula, and Monchhichi weren’t [Covenant-Bearers], Kevin would get no reward back for the coconut water and dried meat they gathered.
But there was nothing he could do. Right now, his top priority was to craft the drone swarm as fast as possible.
He had to put food aside for now and focus on raw materials.
The reason was simple. As long as they didn’t pick at their food, Kevin was one hundred percent sure he and his crew wouldn’t starve in this harsh sea.
But rare materials like silicon blocks were different. With bad luck, it was normal to go ten days or even half a month without finding a single one.
Kevin had made that exact mistake in his past life.
His [Iron Heart] talent stalled for months because he couldn’t find purple quartz ore.
If he hadn’t been stuck, he wouldn’t have gotten hurt. And Bella and Joseph those two bitches wouldn’t have been able to kill him so easily.
At this thought, Kevin’s gaze grew sharper.
Suddenly, the screams of several girls rang in Kevin’s ears.
He turned toward the sound and saw an old, worn-out sailing ship on the horizon, moving fast toward them.
Nova, Celula, and Monchhichi stopped what they were doing and grabbed binoculars to check the deck and bridge of the approaching ship.
But up above the deck, even on the lookout tower, there was not a single person in sight.
Nova and the rest lowered their binoculars and turned to Kevin. "Is that just an empty ship drifting here on the current?"
Kevin shook his head right away. "No. With the current and wind right now, that ship wouldn’t be heading this way."
Kevin stood up and jumped into the armed helicopter.
As the rotors spun, the chopper shot into the air and flew straight for the ship.
Kevin circled the ship for a while but saw zero sign of life.
Puzzled, he pulled out his [Wraith Revolver] and fired a shot into the air.
A moment later, a three-meter Fish Fiend leaped out of the water and hopped onto the deck.
"Go below deck and bring me whatever’s alive," Kevin ordered.
The Fish Fiend ripped open a hatch and dove below deck.
About ten minutes later, the Fish Fiend climbed back up the stairs and stepped onto the deck.
On its shoulders, it carried piles of skeletons wearing pirate clothes.
Unlike the Eldritch skeletons they had seen before, these bones looked ancient and rotted through.
The Fish Fiend had to be careful not to crush them, or they would just turn to dust.
Seeing this, Kevin’s brows furrowed. "Damn. This wasn’t a ship meant for us Survivors."
Kevin was about to order the creature to kill itself.
But before he could, a ball of red mist shot out from the skeletons and wrapped around the Fish Fiend.
In a flash, the three-meter monster was consumed by the red mist.
Then the mist split in two. One half took the shape of a skeletal Mist Phantom, while the other reshaped into the Fish Fiend.
Kevin yanked the controls and shot the chopper away as fast as he could.
But the two Mist Phantoms weren’t going to let him off the hook.
The Fish Fiend version grabbed its skeletal twin and hurled it at the chopper like a cannonball.
"You really think I’m scared?" Kevin sneered and hit the switch for his heavy gun.
A storm of bullets ripped the skeleton apart.
But the skeleton didn’t die. Instead, it turned into thin trails of red smoke and quickly reformed into a new body on the deck.
Then a monster stepped out of the cabin. Its skin was deep red, and its head was covered in tentacles.
It waved at the two Mist Phantoms on the deck, and they instantly sank right into its body.
Kevin’s eyes went wide. "Damn it! It’s a Command-level Eldritch! The King of the Mist Phantoms!"
